Depressing ?celebrity? and American Idol failure William Hung has been honoured by the small town of Castroville, CA. The ?artichoke capital of the world? crowned Hung ?Artichoke King,? striking fear in the hearts of artichokes the world over.

As part of his royal duties, Hung will ride in a parade Sunday and perform new versions of the Beach Boys? ?Surfin? USA? and Billy Ray Cyrus? ?Achy Breaky Heart.?

The 23-year-old singer, who found novelty-fueled fame after performing a spirited rendition of Ricky Martin?s ?She Bangs? on the Fox talent show, is the latest in a long lineage of Artichoke royalty. In 1947, Marilyn Monroe was crowned the first ?Artichoke Queen.?
