LISTEN: Marcus Collins Covers The White Stripes ‘Seven Nation Army’

You may not have heard of Marcus Collins yet, since he’s only appeared on The X Factor UK late last year.

But the talent show contestant is making headlines with his pop version of the 2003 White Stripes jam “Seven Nation Army”. The track leaked today but it wont officially be released until March. Style Bistro says his self-titled album will be out March 12.

Marcus has written a number of tracks for the album, while it also features three covers, including Janelle Monae’s hit “Tightrope”.

His rendition of “Seven Nation Army” is pretty respectful. Marcus makes this song his own with the added horn section. Have a listen below.

Jack White And Karen Elson Divorce On Anniversary, Throw Party

‘The White Stripes’ frontman Jack White and his wife, Karen Elson, have divorced on their anniversary and are throwing a divorce party, reports E Online.

The divorce comes after six years of marriage and two kids. But instead of a nasty court battle, the couple is sending invitations to close family and friends for a divorce party, to be thrown tonight.

“We remain dear and trusted friends and coparents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee,” the couple says in a joint statement. “We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow.”

“In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party, an evening together in Nashville to reaffirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.”

The couple, who got married on June 1, 2005, will celebrate tonight in Music City.

“Karen Elson and Jack White kindly request the presence…at a party to celebrate their 6th anniversary, and their upcoming divorce with a positive swing bang hum dinger,” the invite reads. “The party will include dancing, photos, memories and drinks with alcohol in them. This is only for close personal friends and family so please no plus ones or dead beats.”

Well, this is an odd twist. I like that the two can still be amicable, though, it’s how it should be. White seems like an interesting character so it somewhat doesn’t surprise me that he is throwing a “divorce party.”

White Stripes, Radiohead Coming To Movie Theatres

Canadians will be able to catch some of the hottest names in music on the big screen this fall.

The White Stripes, Radiohead and Beck are among the artists featured in a concert series that will run from Oct. 1 to Nov. 19 at participating Cineplex Entertainment theatres across the country.

“Watching the great line-up of bands and artists perform on the big screen in HD and digital surround sound will be an experience like no other,” Cineplex’s Pat Marshall said in a statement released Tuesday.

In total, the concert series will features 21 artists over five nights. The first three concerts in the series are dubbed “From The Basement” and showcase 17 different bands performing in a private setting without an audience.

The last two concerts, “inDef Sessions,” each feature two one-hour concerts from two different Canadian artists and bands: Great Lake Swimmers and Joel Plaskett Emergency on Nov. 5, and Alex Cuba and Royal Wood on Nov. 19.

Tickets for individual shows are priced at $10.95 plus tax for general admission. They can be purchased in advance on the Cineplex website and at participating theatre box offices starting Friday.

Concert ticket packages, bundled as any three shows or all five, must be purchased in person at participating theatres.

New Jack White Albums In The Works

Jack White has revealed he is working on three projects while the White Stripes take a break from touring.

“Half of me was glad because I have three other records I’m working on, and I didn’t have any time to work on them,” he told the Seattle Times.

“I was really getting worried that I might have to not do these things I wanted to do because of the touring.”

While White didn’t specify the new projects, he denied they wouldn’t be a new Raconteurs album or a solo album.

The White Stripes have cancelled the rest of their 2007 gigs while Meg White deals with acute anxiety.

While White said the cancelled dates didn’t mean the end of the band, he added that “[i]f it came to a point where Meg said, ‘I don’t want to be in this band anymore, it doesn’t fulfill me in any way,’ then it would be a different story. But she’s not saying that.”

White Stripes Celebrate 10 Years By Playing All 50 Us States

THE WHITE STRIPES will celebrate their 10th anniversary as a band by completing a dream of performing in all 50 US states.

The duo has finalised plans for a North American summer tour and will include a handful of bizarre venue stops – just so they can boast they’ve played a show in every state.

Frontman Jack White says, “For the 10th anniversary of this band, we’re going to play the 16 states we’ve never played before.

“We’re also going to play every province and territory in Canada – I don’t know if it’s ever been done. We’re going to play all the places we haven’t been, and that’s really appealing to us.”

The dates get underway with a show in Portland, Maine in July and will include a two-night stint at New York’s fabled Madison Square Garden.

THE WHITE STRIPES frontman JACK WHITE is to play ELVIS PRESLEY in a new movie.

The BLUE ORCHID star will appear as the late rock ‘n’ roll icon in WALK HARD, a film about a fictional rock star.

The role isn’t the first time White has stepped in front of the cameras – he had a part in COLD MOUNTAIN and played himself in COFFEE AND CIGARETTES opposite his bandmate MEG WHITE.

Jack White’s Mansion Up for Sale

A 90-year-old, Detroit mansion — currently owned by White Stripes and Raconteurs front-man Jack White — could be all yours. It’s up for sale, with an asking price of $930,000 U.S.

The house, built in 1914, still retains many of its original amenities, including a walk-in safe, Pewabic tile, and a Humphrey Radiantfire heater.

It was designed by world-famous architect C. Howard Crane, and has been previously occupied by Ralph Phelps, a prominent lawyer in the early 20th century, and Oscar-nominated actress Ann Harding.

In 2005, White renovated the mansion’s basement, having a laundry room and bathroom restored in his signature colours of black, red and white.

He’s even used the house as a studio, with The White Stripes’ “Get Behind Me Satan” being recorded in the main staircase and foyer (dubbed Third Man Studios).

White Stripes Lawsuit Underway

A lawsuit brought against the White Stripes by a former producer went to trial in Detroit on Monday.

Jim Diamond, who worked on the band’s first two albums, claims he played a vital role in creating the Stripes’ signature sound and wants a share of the substantial royalties, according to the Associated Press.

Diamond is listed as the co-producer on the band’s self-titled debut, and was the sound mixer on the follow-up, “De Stijl.”

The White Stripes deny that Diamond had any involvement in creating their sound. They said in court documents that he was paid $35 US per hour for time at Diamond’s Ghetto Recorders studio.

Jury selection, the first step in the trial, is expected to last about a week.

White Stripes Singer Marries Model in Canoe

Jack White has followed in the footsteps of his ex-girlfriend, Renee Zellweger, and went through with a surprise wedding.

White, 29, frontman of the White Stripes, married model Karen Elson Wednesday. They wed in front of a Shaman priest on a canoe in the Amazon River in Brazil.

Elson, 25, has modeled for Prada and Banana Republic.

She was also featured in the “Blue Orchid” White Stripes music video.

They later were blessed by a Catholic priest in a Manaus, Brazil, row boat, err, I mean a cathedral.

Fellow White Stripes member Meg White was the maid of honor. The duo has said that they are brother and sister, though court documents have shown that they were married for four years before their band took off.

Zellweger, White’s love interest for about a year, married Kenny Chesney last month.

The honeymoon will have to be brief. The White Stripes have an extensive tour planned and a new album out next week.
