Weekly Scoop magazine, owned by Torstar Corp., has folded after only eight months on the newsstands.

“This was a difficult decision to make and it is in no way a reflection on the strength of the Weekly Scoop team or the quality of their work,” said Greg Loewen, vice-president marketing and new ventures, in a news release.

The last issue was distributed on June 9. Weekly Scoop officials said their circulation was 111,000, but Canada.com claims that the circulation was significantly less than that ? roughly 38,000.

In other Canadian magazine news, Rogers is planning on launching a Canadian version of the U.K. magazine Hello! later this year.
