Holy shit. MGK is the KING.
We’re giving him an honorary gold crown (with an official ANDPOP engraving of course) for giving one of the most chilled out, honest interviews we’ve ever had. ANDPOP’s Casey Jones sat down with the Cleveland rapper and knew it would be a good interview as soon as he started rolling a joint, completely casual. Read more…
You can only be so popular in high school when you play a trombone. Despite her band camp tendancies, Nelly Furtado says she was actually pretty popular and involved in high school activities when she was 16.
“It’s horrible, I was popular!” she said. “We were the cool girls. We were also really involved in school activities. I was the head of the graduation committee, organizing all the grad events.”
Needless to say, host Jordan Bortolotti was disappointed his 16-year-old self probably wouldn’t have a chance with Nelly Furtado’s 16-year-old self.
“You never know!” said Nelly.
In this episode of Way Back When, the singer talks about playing the trombone, being obsessed with TLC and what her teen self would think of her current pop-stardom.

Long before Danny was the lead singer of The Script, he had his first french kiss with a schoolgirl back in Dublin. Unfortunately their young love only lasted two weeks because she turned out to be a chain smoker. Thankfully, he still showed us his unique kissing technique we’ve since dubbed the “round and round.”
“It had been built up for a good week, There was preparations going on, I was having chats with the older guys in the yard. Like ‘What do you do?’ I remember them saying just move your tongue round and around and round and round. I remember kissing the girl and going ‘this is weird!’”
In this episode of Way Back When, Danny, Glen and Mark talk to ANDPOP’s Jordan Bortolotti about young love, useless talents and their favourite retro video games… Duck Hunt anyone?

The first album Wiz Khalifa ever bought with his own money was DMX’s single “Get At Me Dog,” which is pretty trippy considering the Pittsburgh rapper has since toured with X for Rock the Bells and his fiance Amber Rose has a soft spot for the guy.
Wiz was growing up in Pittsburgh and had to save up for the album, which included the clean, regular and instrumental versions as well as “Stop Being Greedy” on the B-side.
“I was doing chores at the time,” Wiz told ANDPOP. “I was in second or third grade probably and had $10. There was this place called Edgewood Towne Centre right up the street from where I lived on the East side of town so I had to walk all the way up the street, all the way up the hill. I got the the Towne Centre, looked at everything and for some reason DMX stood out so I was like ‘I’ll get that one,’ and I loved it.”
Wiz also opened up about getting crazy sh*t stuck up his nose and first learning about doggy-style as a “crazy little man” for an episode of “Way Back When.” Naturally, this resulted in obligatory talk about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, because (duh) Wiz is OBSESSED with the art of ninjutsu.
One of the best ways to really get to know someone is to ask about their experiences growing up. You can learn a lot about a person when you investigate what everyday normal things they used to like as a teenager. In this series we achieve maximum nostalgia with Ellie Goulding. It was like vintage shopping for memories. It’s not surprising that Ellie was popular in high school but we never knew she had a nerdy side. In this episode of ‘Way Back When,’ she tells us about Teenage Mutant “Hero” Turtles, Dream Phone and her obsession with Scottish history. Do you remember Dream Phone? That game was so good even guys wanted to buy it.
Rita Ora’s such a fashionista, we just can’t imagine her wearing hideous matching tracksuits at 13 to get attention from her first love (who ended up being a total dud). She sat down with @Jordans_Life to talk about her first beer and the craziest party she ever went to. At 16, she ended up throwing a flat party at her family home and sh*t went CRAY. Well, you can’t blame her considering her dad owned a wicked pub and had surround sound speakers.
Far East Movement were pretty balling in high school, swimming and learning backstroke (if you get our sexual innuendo). They sat down with andPOP after the MMVAs and described their first kiss with tongue which was way back in elementary school. WHA? They also talk about partying Project X style with dogs on the trampoline and everything.
B.o.B remembers his first kiss, and he’s pretty sure it had tongue. We’re not going to tell you how young he was (watch the clip for that) but he must have been a playground heartbreaker. In andPOP’s second episode of Way Back When, B.o.B also recalls the craziest house party he’s ever been to and even has a clip to show us. It involves a roof and a pool.

In our very first episode of our new show called “Way Back When,” Hoodie Allen tells Jordan (@Jordans_life) about his experiences at Jewish sleep away camp. Apparently he did pretty well with the ladies during his teenage years. He also gives us some insight into the first time he got drunk and the best prank he pulled in high school. Tell us about your first kiss in the comments section below!
