Simon Cowell did One Direction fans a total solid by telling Demi Lovato to keep her hands of Niall Horan, because 1) he’s “pure” and 2) he’s obviously OURS. I mean, the two would be adorable together but we’re still holding out for our chance with the Irish member of One Direction because it will happen, right? RIGHT?
While Demi assures him in this X-Factor promo that she’s not dating anyone for an entire year, Simon doesn’t seem to believe her.
Niall and Demi reignited rumors that they’re romantically involved, when they were spotted after this year’s VMAs at Harry Morton’s Pink Taco in Century City. Just before the awards show he told Access Hollywood that Lovato is his celebrity crush. This is the second time the pair have had to dodge rumors since they were rumored to be involved at the beginning of summer.
While we’d hate to see Niall go off the market, Demi and him see like a good match!

I hate to say it, but last night was one of the most boring red carpets I’ve seen in a while. I always look forward to the VMAs because the younger generation of celebs either go all out in unconventional styles (it’s where Lady Gaga wore her smelly meat dress) or theyat leastkeep it fun and simple. It’s a lot more down to Earth than the more snobby arenas.
Last night we saw a lot of white and black gowns and while everyone looked okay, nobody really stood out in that “ZOMG I can’t believe she wore that” or “get my pocketbook Jinx I’m buying that dress now” sort of way. Nicki Minaj (above) wore a lace cat suit with sequin detailing that was way out there in a WTF-way, but other than that it was pretty tame.

Emma Watson picked up a lot of slack for her contrasting Peter Pilotto orange top and graphic skirt, however, it was one of my fave looks of the night. She looked youthful and fun, especially next to all the boring black and white most of the other celebs wore on the carpet. While some people claimed she looked half her age, you have to remember, she’s only 22!! She can still go there…
Taylor Swift
I’m absolutely in love with Taylor Swift’s white J. Mendel silk crepe suit . Menswear-inspired looks are right on trend but she mixed it up by adding a bold red lip. While I would have loved to see her in something more youthful, the well-cut suit is very chic and a Diane Keaton-way.

When you’re nominated for a major award, it’s always good to be prepared for how you’ll react if you win or lose. If you win, you want to make sure you thank the right people and show your graciousness. If you lose, you want to make sure your expression shows you’re disappointed but still happy for the winner.

There are a few things I can tell you after watching the One Direction promo for the VMAs. Most notable, is that it’s pretty darn cheesy, but cheesy in a good way. For one thing, a good portion of the ad is shot in slow motion, which allows your lingering gaze to settle on Harry’s messy-chic hair or consider Niall’s generally playful nature (jumping on Liam’s back, mock-punching Louis).
Then we get individual shots of each of them looking dashing enough to distract your eyes from the random, animated background behind them. The script isn’t all that engaging, but we’re like “kay whatever” because we’re not really watching for the script right?
One Direction will perform at the 2012 MTV VMAs on Sept. 6.

Kid Cudi was busted for smoking in the venue at the MTV VMAs last night. Cudi could be seen live on TV lighting up as Lady Gaga went on stage to accept the award for Best Female Video.
Reps at the Nokia Theater quickly approached Cudi and asked him to put out the cigarette. He complied as a rep told TMZ, ”He was asked to put it out and he complied.”
Cudi didn’t get the memo that you can’t smoke in public and enclosed spaces. Nevertheless, it’s still badass….
Katy Perry has performed at many award shows in the past. She has rocked the MTV awards show and the VMA’s, with a mind-boggling version of Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” Then, Perry got engaged to VMA host Russell Brand.
And According to MTV News, Perry is not stopping there. She is set to perform at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards on June 6. Perry will play the first single, “California Gurls,” off of her new upcoming album, Teenage Dream.
“I’m proud to represent the West Coast at the MTV Movie Awards in the magical glow of the Hollywood sign with my new single ‘California Gurls,’” Perry said. “I hope it will be the theme song to a lot of summer loving; I know it will in my house!”
Perry is also joining previously announced performer Christina Aguilera at the show next month.
The award show airs live on Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET and is hosted by Aziz Ansari. Fans can vote for their favourite films and actors at MovieAwards.MTV.com. “The Hangover” is leading the way with six nominations, followed by “New Moon” and “Avatar” both with five.
More performers have been added to the lineup for next month’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Rihanna, Paramore, Pink and T.I. are now confirmed to take the stage during the Sept. 7 ceremony in Los Angeles, joining a roster that previously included Kid Rock, Lil Wayne and the Jonas Brothers.
Rihanna, who is nominated for Best Female Video, will perform her new single “Disturbia,” while Paramore, up for Best Art Direction in a Video and Best Rock Video, will deliver a rendition of “Misery Business.”
Meanwhile, Pink is slated to sing “So What” and T.I. will perform a track from his forthcoming album “Paper Trail.”
More performers as well as a list of presenters are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The 2008 MTV VMAs, hosted by British comedian Russell Brand, will air live on MuchMusic starting at 9 p.m. ET.
Missy Elliott took home two awards including Best Video at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, but the news that will be making the water cooler conversations concerns the open-mouthed kisses that Madonna planted on Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
The awards started with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera performing Madonna’s “Like A Virgin,” dressed in white wedding dresses, similar to what the Material Girl wore at the awards 20 years ago. Madonna then joined the girls to perform her new song, “Hollywood.” Right before Elliott performed her verses in the song, Madonna gave a “lesbian kiss” to Spears, and then to Aguilera.
Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, and Beyonce Knowles each won three awards, but there was no clear-cut big winner.
Chris Rock hosted the show, and his jokes were controversial at times. “(American Idol judge) Paula Abdul judging singers is like Christopher Reeve judging a dance contest. That ain’t right,” he said, receiving a mixed reaction of laughter and shock.
He poked fun at R. Kelly, who is being charged with sexual relations with an underage girl. Rock suggested they separate the teenaged Olsen Twins and Kelly as far as they can go. And when introducing basketball rookie LeBron James and Ashanti, he joked about Kobe Bryant, who has been charged with rape. “He’s tying not to be the next Kobe and she’s trying not be the next victim.”
