Val Kilmer Is King Of Bacchus

Val Kilmer has a new starring role: He is this year’s celebrity king for the Krewe of Bacchus parade in New Orleans.

The annual parade will take place on Feb. 22, two days before Mardi Gras.

As reigning Bacchus, Kilmer will don royal apparel for his ride through the city on a float and will also visit Children’s Hospital, a tradition of every parade king for the past three decades.

A doubloon bearing the actor’s likeness will also be thrown to parade spectators.

Kilmer, whose screen credits include “The Doors,” “Batman Forever” and “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,” is no stranger to New Orleans. His 2006 film “Deja Vu,” also starring Denzel Washington, was filmed in the city.

Wrestler and reality TV star Hulk Hogan was last year’s reigning Bacchus. Past kings include William Shatner, Billy Crystal, James Gandolfini, Bob Hope and Ron Howard.

Val Kilmer Is New Voice Of KITT

Val Kilmer will replace Will Arnett as the voice of KITT the crime-fighting car in NBC’s upcoming TV movie remake of “Knight Rider.”

Arnett had finished voicing KITT for the revival of the ’80s series, but was asked by General Motors to step aside because he has also done voice-over work for GMC Trucks.

KITT is a Ford Mustang, and the TV movie is sponsored by Ford.

“I was very excited at the prospect of playing the part of KITT in the new Knight Rider movie,” Arnett told Variety.

“However, because of a long relationship with General Motors as the voice of GMC Trucks, I had to respectfully withdraw from the project.”

The “Knight Rider” TV movie will air Feb. 17.

Arnett, who was born and raised in Toronto, is best known for his roles in “Arrested Development” and “Blades of Glory.”
