Before there was Katy Perry and Justin Bieber, there was a pre-Nipple Gate Janet Jackson and Shaggy. Yes folks, we’ll be taking you back to the good ol’ days of 2001.
Warning: the music you are about to hear is not exactly my favourite nor is it possibly yours, but they were all the shit at one point of another. Let’s face it: we probably all own the CDs and the songs will probably be stuck in your head all week. SorryNotSorry.
“It Wasn’t Me” By Shaggy
Not only was this song impossible to get out of your head, it’s about cheating and trying to lie your way out of it! Not cool, Shaggy! It stayed at number 1 for two weeks.
“Ms. Jackson” by OutKast
Actually, this is one song from 2001 that should have a permanent place in your favourite iTunes playlist.
Butterfly by CrazyTown
This song was huge and I’m guilty I liked it. Listening to it now makes me hate it. Does that ever happen to you?
Ryan Lochte has been getting a lot of attention for his new reality show What Would Ryan Lochte Do? and the response – especially of the news media – has not been all that favourable…which is understandable since he says things like “If you’re a man at night, you have to be a man in the morning.”
The confusing one liners of the Olympic gold-medalist landed him on Anderson Coopers “The Ridiculist” after an internet genius mashed up his catch phrase with Usher’s smash hit “Yeah.”
I think this video is proof enough that Ryan Lochte needs to stay in the pool and off the television – and keep his mouth shut as often as possible.
Figuring out the top 10 hottest guys of the 90s was a lot harder than I thought. I mean, I remember all the posters I had in my room and who was on them, but I needed some help from my friends to rank them. So here it is, the product of my hard research: the top 10 heartthrobs from the 1990s.
10. Chris Klein
I’m pretty sure this was one of the only reasons girls wanted to watch American Pie movies, after all, those movies were made for guys. Every girl I knew watched them, and we all had a poster of Chris in our rooms (Thank you J14 magazine). If you saw the latest installment, American Pie:Reunion, he might have a slightly different hairline, but the 34-year-old seems to have aged well. I mean, how could that jaw-line not age well?
9. Nick Carter
Being one of the biggest boy bands in the 90s, it’s only natural the Backstreet Boys’ resident heartthrob made this list. Nick Carter was the blonde babe that all the girls liked. Much like the Bieber’s haircut, Carter’s trademark ‘do was donned by every guy. Still not sure why we loved his style, but that’s the 90s for you. He is now 33.
8. Freddie Prinze Jr.
This hunk got his start in I Knew What You Did Last Summer but we all took notice when he starred in She’s All That and Summer Catch. It’s only fitting he marry an equally gorgeous 90s bombshell Sarah Michelle Gellar, making them the best 90s couple around. He’s still hot at 37.
7. Usher
Okay, I personally would have him as my number 1, but according to my highly “scientific” survey, he belongs in the number seven spot. Does anyone remember the song, “Nice and Slow”? I basically fell in love with him watching that video. Usher is pure sex, ladies.
6. JTT aka Jonathan Taylor Thomas
“Go Missin’” – Usher and Diplo
Usher and producer Diplo are at it again, after their first collaboration “Climax” brought Usher back to relevancy. The two make a great team as Usher’s new single “Go Missin’” combines the best of Diplo’s electro dub beats with Usher’s smooth R&B croons. The track starts off with a great synth line and hard beat and just gets better from there.
“Heart Attack” – Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato breaks it down in her new single “Heart Attack.” The usually demure songstress makes full use of synthesizers and vocal effects to bring us this club banger, and boy does it work. Demi sings about being afraid to fall in love but we all know the girl has nothing to worry about with talent like hers. Demi’s new album is scheduled to be released later this year.

Smooth-talking, sure-footed Usher has been charming us with his upbeat dance tracks since the release of his first album Usher in 1994 all the way to 2012’s Looking 4 Myself. It’s no wonder the Biebs’ mentor also got his start at a young age. We dug up these cute pics and clips of the “Scream” singer to track his transformation into an R&B megastar.
His name sounds like royalty
Usher Raymond IV was born on Oct. 14, 1978 in Dallas, Texas. He was named after his father and kept the tradition going by naming his own son Usher Raymond V. Man, it must be tough to keep track of who’s calling who in their household.
His family believed in him
Usher was just nine when he joined his first singing group in 1987, a local church choir. His grandmother was so amazed by his voice that she convinced the rest of his fam to move to Atlanta, Georgia to help Usher get discovered.
He was in a boy band before 1D

When he was 11, Usher (the cute kid in white) got into an Atlanta boy band called NuBeginnings in 1990. It was a new beginning for Usher too — he made his very first record with the R&B group in 1991.

Usher stopped by “The Ellen Degeneres” show to perform and join the host in a dance battle for the new game Dance Central 3.
While we all love Ellen for her dancing, it’s pretty obvious that Usher is the better dancer here. But seeing that he starting screwing up in the middle of the competition, it’s quite clear that he was just being a gentleman for letting the host win the battle!!
And to make things even better, all the audience members left the show with an Xbox and a copy of the game.
(Seriously, one day…I will be in that audience and bask in the same glory as those lucky people.)
Uh oh! If you ever screw over Green Day’s set time, then you’ll be messing with a very angry Billie Joe Armstrong.
Scheduled to play a 45 minute show at the iHeartRadio festival, their set was cut to 30 minutes to make more room for Rihanna and Usher (who went 25 minutes longer than he was meant to).
Clearly annoyed at the one minute warning on the clock, Armstrong stopped mid-song while playing “Basket Case” to give an angry rant.
“F— this sh–. Gimme a f—ing break. One minute left. One minute f—ing left. You’re going to give me one minute.”
Justin Bieber, who wasn’t even at the show, also got caught in the wrath of Armstrong. “I’m not f—ing Justin Bieber, you mother—-ers. You’ve got to be f—ing joking. I got one minute. One minute left. Now I got nothing left.”
And as he threw his microphone down, the lead singer started to trash his expensive looking guitar and stuck the middle finger out to the crowd.
Yikes! I can see how Armstrong may have overreacted. But to be fair, it wasn’t very considerate for the other artists to take over another musician’s set time.
WARNING: This video is not safe for work.
I hope that when I’m a grandma I can dance to whatever new fangled music craze the kids are into. Unfortunately for me, that means it will probably be a difficult robot dance from the year 2050.
Kile Glover, stepson of Usher and biological child of ex-wife Tameka Foster, passed away Saturday morning from injuries caused by a jet ski accident in Georgia earlier this month.
Declared brain dead two days after the accident on July 6, the family struggled to remove the boy from life support hoping that he would recover. When it was determined that the injuries were too severe to overcome, doctors removed the 11-year-old from life support.
“We know God’s in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time,” the family told CNN in a statement weeks ago. “We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it’s the best way we can all support him now.”
Glover and a second victim, a 15 year-old girl, were struck by a Jet Ski while floating on an inner tube in Atlanta’s Lake Lanier. While the girl is reported to have suffered from a cut on the head and a broken arm, Glover suffered serious trauma to his head.
While the man driving the jet ski has been identified as family friend Jeffrey S. Hubbard, the police have determined that no drugs were involved and no charges are being pressed. (SOURCE)
Usher’s 11-year-old stepson Kyle Glover was declared brain dead on Sunday night, July 8. He was struck by a jet ski on Friday while inner tubing on Lake Lanier in Georgia. He was with a 15-year-old female who was seriously injured and air-lifted to the hospital.
According to TMZ, there’s an investigation underway to determine what exactly happened, though alcohol has apparently been ruled out.
Glover’s mother is Usher’s estranged wife Tameka Foster, with whom he has two children — four-year-old Usher Raymond V and three-year-old Naviv. He reportedly hired a plane to fly Foster out to be with her son. The boy is currently in critical condition at Children’s Healthcare at Egelston Hospital in Atlanta.
Foster, who is a mother of five, said on Facebook: “Kyle, You are strong … You’ll be saved I know it. I love you my baby. I need all #Prayers for my son! thanks you everybody! (sic)”
Poor Usher.
While he is in the middle of a tough custody battle with his ex-wife Tameka Foster for his two sons, the singer now has to deal with a crazy woman claiming to be married to him.
Usher recently got a restraining order against Darshelle Jones-Rakestraw, a 26-year-old woman who is convinced that she’s his wife. According to court documents, the woman showed up at Usher’s home in Georgia and harassed him and his family by knocking loudly on the door and demanding to be let in. Soon after, the cops were called and the woman was told to stay away.
But the next day, she returned once again claiming that not only was she Usher’s wife…she also just misplaced her keys.
Obviously not buying the story, the cops took her under arrest.
So like anybody looking for fame, Jones-Rakestraw took to YouTube to explain “her story”. In the video, she says that the singer has been sending her money for months and claims that “she’s not a stalker.”
Sure she isn’t. From the looks of the video, she sounds completely delusional.
But hey, since she showed the restraining order on camera, maybe she just wanted his autograph.

“Touch’n You” — Rick Ross ft. Usher
Rick Ross shows off his softer side with Usher by his side in the music video for “Touch’n You,” the first single off the upcoming album God Forgives I Don’t. It’s a little weird seeing Rozay doing something other than rapping about guns and drugs, but he wines and dines his lady convincingly enough, playing chess and lounging by the pool together. Meanwhile, Usher whispers and croons sweet nothings causing women everywhere to get weak in the knees. God Forgives I Don’t drops on July 31.
“Good Girls (Don’t Grow on Trees)” — Cris Cab ft. Big Sean
Nineteen-year-old Cris Cab is probably the world’s happiest up and coming artist right now. Not only did Pharell co-write his first single “Good Girls (Don’t Grow on Trees)” and Big Sean lend his talent to the single, but Wyclef Jean also produced this great reggae-inspired track. That’s three hip-hop powerhouses putting faith in a kid from Miami whose claim to fame is quirky covers of hip hop songs and the result is wonderful. Cab sings about treating his woman right, since good girls are special and hard to find. It’s nice to see a young man brought up so well…I wonder if he’s single…

Well this is a pretty unexpected cover. Usher performed Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” on BBC Radio 1 as part of his “Live Lounge Special.”
I was expecting him to change the arrangement a bit — put some sort of soulful spin on it — but he sticks pretty well to the originally vibe. He even pulled out an electric guitar and denim vest to tap into his inner rock child. He’s getting a bit of flack for it but I love when artists cross genres. What do you think of it?

Here I was thinking Usher’s new video for “Scream” would feature tons of ladies screaming their heads off in intense pleasure but alas, relying on the most literal approach when envisioning music videos isn’t always the best way to go (unless you’re Jessie J and the video is “Laserlight” or Maroon 5 and the video is “Payphone“).
Anyway, Usher’s new video does feature a few screaming fans at the end of the video (he’s basically orchestrating their cheers) but mostly it features shots of him running, dancing in a white suit and getting saucy with a sultry lady.
The BBGun-directed video also features footage from his off-broadway show Fuerza Bruta, performed this past April. The footage taken from the show includes a female cast member floating above him, suspended in a watery bubble.

Usher broke down in tears yesterday in an Atlanta courtroom, following allegations of being a bad dad to his sons, Usher Raymond V and Navyd Ely Raymond.
According to TMZ, Usher was on the witness stand for hours and a lot of the questions were about his partying — that’s when he reached for the box of tissues.
The “Scream” singer wants increased custody of his sons, but ex Tameka Foster and her lawyer say his head isn’t in the right place. The lawyer brought up Usher’s alleged marijuana and ecstasy use.
Earlier that day, Usher testified that Foster, who has three children by two other men from prior relationships, allegedly hit Usher, threatened his new girlfriend, spit in her face and flung a plate of food at their car.

Is Usher really so popular that he just HAD to text someone during Saturday Night Live? Here he stands, among Will Ferrell and Liam Neeson, and all that’s going through his mind is: “Nah, I’ve got better things to do.” Usher performed “Scream” and “Climax” to the audience last Saturday and also made an appearance in one of the skits to celebrate 100 digital shorts on SNL. Is this a douchebag move or are people reading too much into it?

In celebration of having done 100 digital shorts, Saturday Night Live pulled out the big guns and called on Justin Bieber. Well not only Justin Bieber. The short also featured Justin Timberlake, Michael Bolton, Usher, Jon Hamm, Will Ferrell and Natalie Portman. Yea, just a few big names. Character cameos included Shy Ronnie, Jack Sparrow and Sergio the Sax Man.
The video starts with Bieber playing the part of Lonely Islander Akiva Schaffer, with Jorma Taccone and Andy Samberg. After a whole lot of shenanigans, that include Natalie Portman rapping obscenities and Timberlake presenting his goods in a box, we learn Bieber was tricked into the whole thing. ”I was tricked into doing this. I don’t endorse this song. No, no, no, no,” he says as Hamm air humps him.
Saturday’s episode was hosted by Will Ferrell with Usher as the musical guest. Next week’s finale will be hosted by Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger.

Once upon a time there was a Canadian boy named Justin Bieber who was mega talented and posted impressive covers on Twitter. Usher fell madly in love and signed Biebs to his joint label with Scooter Braun. Years later, they’re still doing (and looking) fine, posing for the cover of Billboard Magazine. The special issue is in celebration of the upcoming 2012 Billboard Music Awards.
And yes, the two are at the top of the game. JB’s making girls swoon with “Boyfriend” (taking a cue from his mentor) and Usher’s is making us gaga with ”Lemme See“ and “Scream.” Usher’s Looking 4 Myself and Bieber’s Believe will be out this summer.
