Tumblr rapper Kitty Pryde actually made the internet explode this week with her nerd-culture track “Okay Cupid.” The suburban teen’s sleepy sounding song is all about drunk dials, planning dream weddings, getting messed up and  everything else teen girls think about.

She’s already been hailed as the self-aware, suburban high school version of Kreayshawn, to which Pryde responded: “I don’t think I’m following in her footsteps or anything, but the same kind of thing is happening, like ‘Oh she’s cute, this makes me laugh. It’s not good, but it’s funny.’ You send the link to your friends, and then it’s a big joke. Which is good, that’s what I wanted. But I want people to laugh with me, not laugh at me.”

Pryde raps about some of the youthful crap teens are into, like doodling your crush’s name in a binder and sexting, but she does it with self-awareness that is beyond her age and also with a sense of humour. She’s getting a mixed reaction on YouTube but received positive reviews from The New York Times and Vice.
