Black Eyed Peas Ditch Michael Jackson Tribute Concert

The Black Eyed Peas have pulled out of the Michael Jackson Tribute concert for Saturday. The promoter says the group is suddenly “unable to perform.”

The promoters released a statement saying, “Due to unavoidable circumstances, the Black Eyed Peas will be unable to perform at this Saturday’s Michael Forever event.”

However, Cee-Lo Green and Christina Aguilera are still on the roster for the concert.

Lady Gaga Joins 9/11 Tribute

Lady Gaga, Pauly D, Nas and other celebrities have joined up for a 9/11 tribute video.

The video showcases the participants talking about where they were when 9/11 occurred, and encourages all people to pay tribute to those lost in the attacks.

Below is a first among many other videos that are scheduled to appear throughout the week.

Kanye West Paying Tribute To Amy Winehouse

Kanye West is paying tribute to Amy Winehouse by recording a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” reports the Daily Mirror. A source says Kanye is working on the track now, and hopes to debut it in London next month.

“It’s pretty emotive,” the source said. “It’s Kanye singing from the heart — with synthesisers.”

West paid tribute to Winehouse, who died in July, by playing her songs “Tears Dry on Their Own” and “Back to Black” at the Big Chill festival.

It’s an all star lineup joining to pay tribute to Britney Spears at the MTV VMAs.

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, Demi Lovato and Janet Jackson are just some of the female artists who have signed up. The performance will showcase many of Britney’s hits.

Lady Gaga will reportedly sing ‘Circus’, Katy Perry is lined up for ‘Oops I Did It Again’, while Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj will collaborate on ‘Gimme More’.

M.I.A. Releases Track In Memory of Amy Winehouse

While many celebrities Tweet away their condolences for the terrible loss of talented singer Amy Winehouse, M.I.A. has taking paying homage to the next level.

The singer/songwriter has announced that she has released her unfinished track, “27,” to honour the late 27-year-old. The song, which she named after the “27 Club,” references all the talented musicians who have died at age 27, such as Kimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrision, Brian Jones, and Janis Joplin.

According to Perez Hilton, many have mixed reviews as to whether the release is premature, or if it is touching and thoughtful. Regardless, we think it is a very nice thing that M.I.A. is doing and we commend her greatly.

Johnny Knoxville Blogs his Tribute to Ryan Dunn

Overcome with emotion and unable to show his feelings while speaking at Ryan Dunn’s memorial service last Wednesday, Johnny Knoxville wrote a blog post to his late friend and “Jackass” co-star, who died in a car crash last week.

In the post, Knoxville spoke of Dunn’s “enormous capacity to love” his friends and family as well as his fun personality.

“I felt 34-percent funnier when I was with Ryan, but I guess everyone did. He had such a hair trigger laugh reflex,” he wrote. “He lived his life wanting to laugh and wanting you to laugh with him. He would cackle really f*cking loud, too, and it wasn’t uncommon that he would fall over from it. Sometimes I would fall with him because his spirit was very contagious.”

But while Dunn was capable of making everyone laugh with him, Knoxville also spoke out on his friend’s serious side.

“Ryan was a great listener. If you were having troubles, he was always someone you could go sit down and talk to. Granted, most of our sitting down was actually standing up playing pool together, but he was always there if you were sad about something. That’s why all this is even harder because right now I really need to talk to him but I can’t.”

Chris Brown broke down crying during a Michael Jackson tribute last night at the BET Awards.

Brown was performing a MJ inspired dance at the BET Awards when he was overcome with emotion. Nevertheless, if you like Chris Brown or not, it was still an awesome routine. He starts crying around 4:30 in the video below, in case you’re interested.

Our Last Interview with Paul Gray from Slipknot

We are embarrassed by this however we never posted our interview with Paul Gray from Slipknot. Given the recent events, we felt it was appropriate to share our amazing time with Paul. We learned from this interview that Paul was a really humble and articulate guy. We also learned that he loved playing for Slipknot, loved his family, but sometimes got tired of wearing his mask on stage!

To celebrate the life of the pop icon, MuchMusic is hosting a live broadcast from MuchMusic HQ allowing Canadian fans to pay tribute to the self proclaimed “King of Pop”. The live broadcast will continue to at least 11 p.m. EST, and guests include Danny Fernandes, Stereos, Traci Melchor, Jully Black, Protest The Hero, K-OS and Natalie Thomas of Us Weekly.

Artists celebrate life of Jeff Healy

International music stars celebrated the life of Jeff Healey Saturday, May 3 in the first of two weekend tributes to the blind guitar hero—who died in March 2008 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 41.

Some of the artists who took the stage were rocker Randy Bachman, guitarist David Wilcox, bluesman Colin James and singer Alannah Myles. The show also featured ‘Deep Purple’s’ Ian Gillan—who played with Healey several times.

“We worked with each other a lot and I had a great deal of respect for him…. He always used to get up and jam with us when we came into town,” said Gillian.
Healy rose to fame as the leader of the Jeff Healey Band. As a child, Healey was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer— retinoblastoma—resulting in his loss of sight.

Proceeds from this weekend’s sold-out concerts will go to Daisy’s Eye Cancer Fund and the Healey Family Trust.

Johnny Knoxville Nearly Castrated

Johnny Knoxville has incurred a bevy of painful injuries while performing “Jackass” stunts, but his newest accident takes the cake: he nearly castrated himself while riding a motorcycle.

Knoxville was filming a tribute to Evel Knievel in Oklahoma early in February when he had his painful accident.

Updating his blog, Knoxville wrote, “let’s just say before letting Travis Pastrana teach me how to do a backflip on a motorcycle I should have had him teach me to ride one first. Heh-heh…bad for me, good for our viewing audience at home. Have to go now. Have to empty the piss bag on my leg that I have to wear for the next two weeks until my torn urethra heals.”

The tribute will air on MTV on Feb. 23, and Knoxville promised that there will “lots of great stuff in the Evel Knievel tribute besides my trip to the hospital—lots!”
