No, it’s not déjà vu you’re experiencing. Rachel McAdams is indeed in another time-traveling movie.
Going back to a similar route of 2009′s The Time Traveler’s Wife, McAdams stars in About Time with Domhnall Gleeson, a story about a family secret that gives Gleeson’s character the ability to relive the past and try things differently until he gets them perfectly right.
You can guess what happens here. Gleeson’s character uses his special gift to win the heart of a woman named Mary (McAdams). But because things are never perfect, he finds that true love is hard to perfect even with multiple chances.
It’s a wonder why a talented actress like McAdams will go down a similar route once again. But considering the fact that she gets to work with Oscar-nominated director Richard Curtis (the mastermind behind movies Notting Hill, Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral), there’s a good chance she jumped at the opportunity just for him.
But unlike the cheesiness that was The Time Traveler’s Wife, this movie actually looks pretty good. Who can really pass off a bond between Domhnall Gleeson and Bill Nighy? If anyone’s keeping track, that’s Bill Weasley AND Rufus Scrimgeour from the Harry Potter movies!
Maybe school got cancelled, maybe you’re sick, or maybe you really just didn’t want to get out of bed. In any case, you’re now sitting cozily in your bed with a mug of hot chocolate in your hand, cocooned by warm blankets as the snow falls outside. It’s the perfect time for a winter-y movie, but alas, you know of none and your heart sinks as you desperately Google “Winter movies.” And that’s why you’re here.
Fear not. All the work has been done for you with out handy list of five snow day flicks.
Just Friends
When he was an overweight teenager, Chris Brander (Ryan Reynolds) was in love with his best friend, Jamie Palamino. But when it came time to confess his love for her in a letter at a party, a stereotypical jock stole his letter and read it in front of all the cool kids. Years later, he’s a hot record producer who wants nothing to do with his town or Jamie, but is forced to return after a plane with him and a popstar (Anna Faris) has to make an emergency landing near his hometown.
Happy Feet
In the world of Happy Feet, the Emperor penguins find their soulmates through song; if a male penguin’s song matched a female’s “heartsong,” they would get together and have babies. Unfortunately, the main character, Mumble, cannot sing at all. But he can tap dance amazingly and tries to use that to win the affections of the most talented female penguin singer, Gloria. It’s a really cute story and who can argue with covers of popular songs done by penguins?

For fans who just can’t wait for the Tuesday release of Iron Man 3′s official trailer, you’re in luck. With the release of a 17 second teaser for the film, fanatics now have something to salivate over. But make sure you keep your eyes open at all times. If you blink, you might just miss some crucial details.
Who’s pumped?!
I’m not entirely sure why they’re remaking Stephen King’s famous novel Carrie for a third time. But considering the fact that it launched Sissy Spacek’s Hollywood career when she filmed the original, the story and role must be too good to pass off for an actress such as Chloë Moretz.
After premiering at the New York Comic Con, a teaser trailer for the 2013 film is now spreading across the web. Featuring a night skyline and buildings on fire, we catch a sight of Carrie covered in blood…looking extra sinister.
While I can’t say that I’m particularly excited (because 1. I hate horror films, and 2. why remake something again?), but I am interested to see how Moretz does. Having played an awesome Hit-Girl in the super-hero comedy “Kick Ass”, she has proven herself to be a great young actress.
Carrie, is expected to hit theatres March 15.
While Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo won’t be writing a ‘Bridesmaids 2′ , perhaps the upcoming film ‘Bachelorette’ may provide us with the same raunchy humour as ‘Bridesmaids’ did last year.
Based on writer/director Leslye Headland’s Off-Broadway play, ‘Bachelorette’ is about three mean girls (played by Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan) invited to the wedding of the overweight friend (Rebel Wilson) they tormented in high school. Following a night of drugs and alcohol, the three ladies tear the bride’s wedding gown while making fun of her. And in a rush, the trio try to get the gown fixed before anyone finds out.
Making its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January, ‘Bachelorette’ also stars James Marsden, Kyle Bornheimer and Adam Scott. While the film has been met with some negative criticism, we’ll have to judge for ourselves when it comes out on September 7.
But, I just have one question. How did that wedding gown rip so easily? It sounded like it was made out of paper!
In the new trailer for Breaking Dawn Part 2, we finally get a better look at the plot. Bella is now a newly turned vampire and mother to Renesmee but her entire family is in danger when the Volturi hear about her new child.
For non-Twilight fans: child vampires are strictly forbidden because they can’t control their emotions and can be manipulated to kill muchos humans.
I’m pretty dayam excited about the film, but I imagined Bella would have gone through a more drastic transformation. Admittedly that’s the main reason we were all so angry when the last film ended. They were all like, PSYCH suckers, gotta see the next film to get a glimpse of Bella as a vampire.
The film is in theatres on Nov. 16, so we still have a while to wait. In the meantime Kristen Stewart is certainly raking in the cash. It was just revealed that she’s the highest earning actress in Hollywood right now. The girl pulled in $34.5 million in a year. Chunk change.

Remember that movie bomb that was Battleship? Oh yea, you probably do because it just came out last weekend. It was a pretty tall order to convert a plotless board game into a feature length film.
If Battleship can get its own movie, why not Tetris?
Here’s how it’s described on YouTube: “The invasion is beginning. It is inevitable. You created them, you can destroy them! I did not create Tetris, I was but the messenger. Tell me how to stop them. This is an extinction level event. No, don’t go! Let her go!”
So that’s pretty much the most nondescript, cliche movie synopsis ever, and that’s the whole point. This parody trailer was created by Warialasky, who say if enough people watch it, they’ll make a movie out of it. I wouldn’t mind that… it looks like it has better effects than Battleship.

Just when you thought the whole “The Hunger Games” craze would have died down three weeks after the movie’s release, fans can now see hipsters fight to the death in a new parody movie trailer called “The Hipster Games.”
With hipsters from five districts: Portland, Austin, Brooklyn, Oakland and Silverlake, these tributes must save their districts…while sporting bangs, beards and oversized glasses.
While I think this video is quite funny, I do find it quite ironic that there’s a parody about hipsters based off a mainstream mega-franchise.

Selena Gomez plays Mavis in the new animated film Hotel Transylvania. The movie follows Dracula (played by Adam Sandler) who operates a high-end resort, far away from the human world. But the overprotective vampire loses it when a boy discovers the resort and falls for his teenage daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez).
It’s hard to tell whether animated films — let alone Adam Sandler films — will be funny or not just from the trailer. This particular teaser doesn’t present strong dialogue and we don’t even get a glimpse of what the film is really about.
On the bright side, it shows a lot of spooky and imaginative animation. I’m also routing for it because it has such a strong cast, including Andy Samberg and Steve Buscemi. The film comes out on November 1, strangely AFTER Halloween.

In my second year of university I went through an obsession with Mad Men, watching every episode back-to-back to the detriment of my school work. Then the Mad Men hiatus came, and like the couple in Portlandia’s Battlestar Galactica episode I went ballistic without my daily fill.
The newly released trailers are teasing me, but at least I can take comfort that the new season starts on March 25. The three promos from AMC are called “Don Is Back,” “Roger Is Back,” and “Mad Men Is Back.”
It looks like there’s tons of style, debauchery, deception and adultery to look forward to. I can’t wait to see how Don deals with his shotgun wedding to French-Canadian Jessica Paré. I actually like his new wife (though I’m a biased Canadian) but I feel the relationship is doomed. What do you think?
The new promos for this season are actually pretty sweet.
And this one too:
“Grindhouse” may have bombed at the box office, but it has had a lasting impression.
According to SlashFilm.com, the new Ben Stiller movie, “Tropic Thunder” will feature fake trailers. The idea is taken from the Tarantino-Rodriguez collaboration.
According to the site’s source, one of the trailers is for a faux film called “Satan’s Alley” and featured Robert Downey, Jr. (who stars in “Tropic Thunder”) and Tobey Maguire.
The fake “Grindhouse” trailers were so popular that one of them, “Machete,” is actually being made into a full-length film.
