Gatsby is always a great style inspiration, so is Leo DiCaprio.
Prom season is coming up and most likely there are some guys out there who still haven’t even given a thought to what they will be wearing that night. No worries. It’s usually thought that guy’s have it easier than girls when deciding what to wear for prom, which is partly true. But don’t discount the importance of a guy’s sartorial choice for prom night. Some guy’s might feel boxed in when picking a prom look when they feel the need to match their prom date’s outfit, or they might get roped into wearing their dad’s/brother’s/some distant relative’s hand-me-downs because it’s cheap and easy. But don’t fret as there are a variety of men’s looks to choose from.
The famously glitzy Cannes Film Festival in France, which is currently taking place, is a good place to start when deciding on prom looks.
Leonardo DiCaprio & Tobey Maguire
You can’t go wrong with the traditional simple black tuxedo. When in doubt get a tux. The classic look stands alone and will pair nicely with whatever your prom date is wearing. When choosing the traditional black tuxedo little touches can go a long way as seen in Leo’s look, he’s wearing a three-piece suit with black satin lining which helps set himself apart from The Great Gatsby co-star Tobey. Another important thing to remember is fit! Maguire’s tux is tailored fit to his body, the fit is perfection. So if you think of busting out your dad’s ol’ tux make sure you get it tailored, otherwise you’ll look like a kid trying to play dress up.

You can’t judge a movie by the trailer — especially one by Baz Luhrmann — but from what I’ve seen of his forthcoming film The Great Gatsby I’m pretty excited. The second trailer was released today (we saw the first one back in May) and it captures the glitz and glamour of the 1920s.
Leonardo DiCaprio steals the spotlight as Jay Gatsby telling Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire): “I will tell you God’s truth. God’s truth about myself. I am the son of some very wealthy people, sadly they’re all dead now.” He goes on about his extravagant lifestyle and riches. As we’re given a glimpse into the very Moulin Rouge!-esque parties that Jay hosts, Carraway says eerily: ”He had an extraordinary sense of hope. But I had the uneasy feeling that he was guarding secrets.”
The film looks visually stunning and the soundtrack, while not period specific, includes Kanye West and Florence + the Machine. It’s set to hit theatres on May 10. Are you going to see it?

This is my OMG moment of the day —nay week — because I’ve honestly been waiting for any shred of visuals to give me an idea of what Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby will look like. And it looks dayam good.
The trailer opens with a sweet track that’s so not 1922 but I’ll live with it because it makes Leonardo DiCaprio seem even more badass. The shots of NYC are totally Baz and are infused with the beautiful cinematography we saw in Moulin Rouge! and the mildly disappointing Australia.
The tempo seems a little faster than it is in the book but this isn’t just The Great Gatsby, this is Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby (there’s a difference).
The movie stars Carey Mulligan as the fashionable Daisy Buchanan, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway and DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby. If your grade 10 English class isn’t rushing back to you, Carraway heads to Long Island where he’s fascinated by his mysterious yet glitzy neighbour Gatsby [start Twilight theme].
I don’t want to get too excited or else I’m bound to be disappointed, but from what I see I’m predicting a sweet though historically inaccurate wardrobe and soundtrack. We’ll have to wait until Dec. 25, 2012 to see if it’s what we expect.

Looks like there will be more Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in upcoming episodes of the award-winning sitcom Modern Family.
According to Deadline, Sofia Vergara who was announced to be part of the cast of the Lee Daniels’ directed drama The Paperboy, has just dropped out of the film.
When the start date of the movie got pushed back a week, the schedule conflicted with her day job on Modern Family, whose third season will shooting by then.
“Modern Family is her first priority, so once she was made aware of the change in schedule, she had no choice but to pull,” said an insider in her camp.
Vergara, will however be a part of The Three Stooges, a film adaptation of the television series directed by the Farrelly brothers.
The Paperboy, which stars Matthew McConaughey, Tobey Maguire and Zac Efron, is based on the Pete Dexter novel about a newspaper reporter who returns home to FLorida to investigate the possible unlawful imprisonment of a death-row inmate.
So what do you think of Vergara’s dropping out?
Personally, I don’t mind at all because her character on Modern Family is my favourite. I’m sure other films will be coming her way in the future!
Mad-scientist director Baz Luhrmann is hard at work on his new film adaptation of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby.
The film is already featuring huge names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan, and is also set to be shot in 3D (because nothing says 3D like early 20th century American literature).
Oh yah, and now Ben Affleck is getting in on the fun also.
Apparently Affleck, who now directs (Gone Baby Gone, The Town), is busy helming his 3rd directorial project, Argo. However if he can coordinate his schedule, the actor would play Tom Buchanan, the materialistic husband of Carey Mulligan’s Daisy.
Luhrmann must not have too much in store for the character of Buchanan, as Affleck’s acting has been parodied for being extremely one-dimensional and bland. (His directing ability is another story entirely.)
In the words of Bobb’e J. Thompson in Role Models, “You white? You Ben Affleck.”
There’s one main reason to see Jim Sheridan’s latest drama “Brothers:” its talented cast. The adaptation of the award-winning Danish film about post-traumatic stress is gripping to say the least. However, its main fault is being predictable, but if audiences can get past that, they’re in for an emotional battle.
“Brothers” takes place in a small Minnesota military town and tells the story of Marine captain Sam Cahill (played by Tobey Maguire). Unlike many other war films, however, this one focuses on the family.
All is well in the Cahill household until Sam is called up for a return trip to Afghanistan, forcing him to leave behind his beautiful wife Grace (Natalie Portman) and two young daughters. Tension rises among the family when Sam’s younger brother Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal) is released from prison. The two brothers share a rapport, unlike the rest of his family (mainly their father), who doesn’t understand the ex-con and deems Sam as the “good” son.
It’s no surprise that the family dynamics start to change as soon as Sam is pronounced dead in Afghanistan. Following the absence of his brother, Tommy finds purpose in taking care of Grace and his nieces — giving him a newfound sense of responsibility. However, Sam’s survival is never in question for the audience, no spoilers here — in fact, it’s in the trailer.
“Grindhouse” may have bombed at the box office, but it has had a lasting impression.
According to SlashFilm.com, the new Ben Stiller movie, “Tropic Thunder” will feature fake trailers. The idea is taken from the Tarantino-Rodriguez collaboration.
According to the site’s source, one of the trailers is for a faux film called “Satan’s Alley” and featured Robert Downey, Jr. (who stars in “Tropic Thunder”) and Tobey Maguire.
The fake “Grindhouse” trailers were so popular that one of them, “Machete,” is actually being made into a full-length film.
