Timbaland Possibly Suicidal

Proof that money doesn’t buy you everything, it just buys you bigger problems. TMZ reports that a huge search effort was placed on Timbaland yesterday after his family believed he maybe suicidal.

Apparently a $2 Million piece of jewelry was stolen from the music producer. Timbaland called his brother in law yesterday to discuss the robbery which took place at his house, and was deeply upset as he believed it was orchestrated by someone close. His family believed he may be suicidal, and called the police.

A massive search effort was put in place to look for Timbaland’s Escalade, and he was eventually spotted and pulled over by police. Officers spoke with him and took him back home. After an examination by paramedics, it was concluded he is not a threat to himself or anybody else.

Timbaland’s ‘Shock Value II’ Promises Big Collaborations

Timbaland has always been known for big-star collaborations, and his upcoming studio album Studio Value II is no exception. The roster features an abundance of guests, with the biggest surprise being Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.

According to chartattack.com, Kroeger, Drake, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Chris Daughtry, Brandy, The Fay and Keri Hilson make guest appearances on Timbaland’s radio platform-spanning follow-up to 2007′s Shock Value, which is out Nov. 23 through Universal Music.

Furtado guests on the album’s first single, “Morning After Dark,” which will be available to buy on iTunes beginning this coming Tuesday (Oct. 27). Furtado previously guested on Shock Value, as did Timberlake and Hilson.

“I’m so fortunate and blessed to be able to create a Shock Value II,” Timbaland says. “I’m really proud of the calibre of artists on this album and all the work they put into making it a success. I can promise that no one has ever heard Katy Perry, The Fray or Brandy sound like this before.

“It’s exciting because not only am I giving fans the best of me on each track, I’m giving them a glimpse of their favorite artist in a completely different light. This is an album that can be listened to from start to finish every single time because each song is so unique and the range of artists is so diverse. I can’t wait for my fans to hear the collaborations.”

Dr. Dre Collaborates with HP

Dr. Dre has carried his meticulous musical knowledge and expertise into the creation of The HP Envy 15 Beats limited-edition laptop, billboard.com reports.

Dre, alongside acclaimed producer Jimmy Iovine, helped unveil his latest project at Interscope’s Thom Thom club in California on Friday. Iovine noted that contributions were also made by production specialists like Pharrell, Kanye West, Timbaland and will.i.am.

Retailing at $2,299, the laptop will launch in the U.S. on October 22nd, and will be sold at major retailers and through HP direct. The purchase will also include a pair of “Beats by Dr. Dre” headphones, and mixing software from Native Instruments’ Traktor LE.

The laptop will introduce the pinnacle in sound technology, enabling consumers to listen to music at its best.

“What’s out there is not representative of what you hear in the recording studio. As we went on this journey, we found that computers were in the way. Artists and producers want their sound repaired in digital audio. Computer companies charge $1,000 for computers but only spend 50 cents for speakers. With HP, we found a partner willing to take the step to improve the overall sound in the PC. This is for anyone who plays music,” said Iovine at the press conference.

If the Envy 15’s attention to detail is at all reminiscent of Dre’s, whose Detox album is nearly a decade in the making, music fans and specialists have a lot to look forward to.

Timbaland–Good Enough for Jay-Z?

Timbaland might not be good enough for Jay-Z.

The hip hop star’s upcoming record was previously reported to be produced by Timbaland, but Jay-Z tells Rolling Stone magazine that plans are not set in stone.

“You know, I love Timbaland–he is like a brother to me–but until the music is done, it’s premature.”

On top of recording sessions with Timbaland, Jay-Z revealed he will also work with Kanye West–making the sessions a “musical competition” between the two superproducers.

“I’m a person that works off music. If Timbaland makes 10 great tracks then he produces the album. If Kanye West makes 10 great tracks, then he produces the album. If he makes three, I’ll take three. I let the music dictate the direction.”

Jay-Z was in Canada last weekend to play the first annual Pemberton Music Festival.

Timbaland To Debut Cell Phone Album

Dominating billboard charts and taking over radio play with his all-star pop collaborations just doesn’t seem to be enough for Timbaland.

The superstar producer has now decided to take over the mobile world and team up with Verizon Wireless to create a straight-to-mobile-phone album.

Timbaland will release one track at a time each month over the next year exclusively to V Cast subscribers, MTV News reports. The five-time Grammy nominee will do what he does best and call upon different artists to assist on each song. And he’ll do all this while touring the country on the Verizon Mobile Recording Studio Bus. Fans will be able to catch all the action on a Timbaland channel for V Cast members.

The songs will hit the Verizon airwaves for mass download just days after production in full-length form, ringtone and ringback versions.

But if you aren’t a V Cast subscriber, don’t worry; Verizon plans to release a compilation album at the end of the year.

Jay-Z And Timbaland Sued Over Big Pimpin’

Rap moguls JAY-Z and TIMBALAND are being sued by an Egyptian music firm, who claim the stars illegally copied a melody from a 1957 song.

Osama Admed Fahmy, who owns the copyright to the song Khosara, Khosara, has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Federal Court, accusing Jay-Z of using the track’s melody in his 2000 single Big Pimpin’, which appeared on his 1999 album Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter.

This latest lawsuit follows an August (07) decision by a California judge to
dismiss another lawsuit by Ahab Joseph Nafal, who claimed Big Pimpin’ infringed the copyright of Khosara, Khorasa.

Lawyers for EMI Records argued the 50-year-old track was governed by the 1909 Copyright Act, AllHipHop.com reports. (ES/WNWCAH)

Timbaland to Quit Music?

Music producer TIMBALAND is on the verge of quitting the music industry, because he is bored of being the best and most innovative.

The hip hop star, who has never won a Grammy, is looking for a protege to pass on his rap empire to.

He says, “I don’t need to do anything for money. I’m just glad to have a job. But music is boring right now. I’m too innovative for the world. I’ve been doing it so long, I’m about to throw in the towel.

“I’m about to de-crown myself and pass it over to one of the up-and-coming producers under me. They won’t be able to be me – there’s only one Timbaland – but there’s a certain sound that I try to teach.”

Timbaland Hosts Clinton Fundraiser

Hip-hop producer/rapper TIMBALAND is to host a campaign fundraiser for presidential hopeful HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON in Miami, Florida later this month.

The music mogul, who has produced for JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, NELLY FURTADO, MADONNA and SIR ELTON JOHN, is organizing a $1,000-a-head fundraiser, in which Clinton’s husband, former US President BILL CLINTON will also attend, the New York Post reports.

Hillary is competing alongside BARACK OBAMA for the US presidency in the 2008 elections.

Timberlake to Work with Duran Duran

Pop star Justin Timberlake has confirmed that he’ll lend a hand writing and producing the new album by aging pop stars Duran Duran.

It’s a positive development for the band after they lost founding guitarist Andy Taylor, who left the group in October.

“We’ve got some good stuff happening here,” Duran Druan front-man Simon LeBon told the CBC of their collaboration with Timberlake. “We are in a very good space.”

Also working with the band on their new album is producer Timbaland.

“We’ve done three tracks with Timbaland,” said LeBon. “We’ve collaborated in a writing and production manner on one of those tracks with Justin Timberlake.”

No release date has been set for the record, which will be the band’s first studio LP since 2004′s “Astronaut.”
