The Tragically HipThe Tragically Hip are making the jump from the stage to the big screen.

The Kingston, Ont., band will present “The Tragically Hip – Live and Intimate from The Bathouse Studios” on more than 80 Cineplex movie screen across Canada on April 6.

The special event, hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos of CBC’s “The Hour,” will include exclusive footage of the band’s studio, interviews with Stroumboulopoulos and live performances. The band will play songs off their upcoming album, “We Are The Same,” as well as old favourites.

Tragically Hip To Headline London Festival

The Tragically Hip are among the artists who will rock the stage when the Rock The Park festival returns to London, Ont., this summer.

The event’s sixth installment, to take place at Harris Park, will feature the Kingston band as the headlining act on July 23.

Big & Rich will top the bill the following night with guests Cowboy Troy, Aaron Pritchett and Shane Yellowbird.

The Doobie Brothers will headline the show on July 25, with guests Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

More performers will be announced shortly; check out the festival’s website here for updates.

Tickets go on sale today (Saturday) through the website, London’s Centennial Hall box office and by phone.

The festival raises money for the Bethanys Hope Foundation, a London-based organization which funds research for metachromatic leukodystrophy, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that has no cure.

Rock The Park 2008 featured such performers as Sammy Hagar, Joan Jett, and Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings of legendary Canadian group The Guess Who.


Tragically Hip Book Club Dates

Can-rock heroes The Tragically Hip have announced a Canadian tour for this fall, but don’t expect to find the boys in any stadiums or arenas.

According to JAM!, the band will play a number of multi-night stints at smaller, more intimate clubs.

The tour will kick off in Toronto with four nights at the Phoenix Concert Theatre — October 22-23 and 25-26. From there, the band will move on to residencies at clubs in Calgary and Vancouver, with a single show set for Montreal.

Tickets for all shows are running expensively at $59.50 a piece. Fans signed up with thehip.com can purchase pre-sale tickets starting September 26 at 10 a.m.

Tragically Hip Unveil Album Details

The Tragically Hip has finally laid out a title and release date for their newest album.

Jam! Music reports that the follow-up to 2004’s “In Between Evolution” will be called “World Container.”

The disc’s first single, “The View,” will hit airwaves at the end of August, while the entire album is due out October 17.

The record was produced by legendary knob-turner Bob Rock, who has worked with the likes of Metallica, Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams.

A full tour is expected in support of the album. Details should be announced in the coming weeks, along with a finalized track list for the LP.
