Considered by many as one of the greatest live rock albums of all time, it was recorded during a late November show at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Available on Amazon.com for less than $50, the box-set includes: three vinyl LP’s with album art (a remastered version of Get Yer Ya-Yas Out!, a set of unreleased Stone’s tracks, and 12 never-before-released tracks by Ike and Turner and B.B. King), three CD’s with identical content to the vinyl’s, a collector’s book, replica’69 tour poster and a DVD containing footage from the two-night concert with additional backstage and other live footage.

All together the set includes 27 re-mastered tracks and five live performances. The collector’s book includes photos, fan remembrances and an album review by legendary music journalist Lester Bangs from Rolling Stone Magazine.

It’s hard to imagine that the Stones are still active in the music scene after nearly a half century. Their most recent album was released in 2005, and they continue to hold up their reputation as one of the greatest bands of all time.

Posted on andPOP:

Jack White has been a very busy, very lucky man lately.

Along with his film It Might Get Loud featuring U2′s The Edge and Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, White has entered the studio with the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, according to Pitchfork.

This isn’t White’s first brush with the Stones – he performed “Loving Cup” alongside Jagger in Martin Scorcese’s concert documentary Shine A Light. Now Richards says the two have been recording together, but wouldn’t confirm rumours that White is lined up to produce the next Stones album.

Details for the album are still vague, and Richards says he is still just trying to rally his band to get writing although they are working together to compile bonus tracks for a re-release of Exile on Main Street next year.

“I’m trying to gather the boys together,” Richards told Rolling Stone. “One way or another, I’ll get them back in line.”

Besides entering the studio with Richards, White spent this year hob-nobbing with Page and The Edge as they filmed It Might Get Loud with Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth). In between his brush with the moguls, White continued to forge his own legend touring with his thus far well-received new project, The Dead Weather, bringing them to every major music festival around the world.

If the rumours are true and White teams up with the Stones, 2010 will be just as White a year as this one.

Posted on andPOP:

The Rolling Stones finished their final US concert by thanking the surgeon who saved Keith Richards’ life.

The legendary guitarist, who suffered a blood clot after falling out of a tree in Fiji earlier this year, expressed his gratitude to the medical team who looked after him.

Singer Sir Mick Jagger, 63, also thanked fans at the Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium for their patience after the show was postponed for four days when doctors told him to rest his voice.

A source said: “They weren’t the most rock ‘n’ roll of announcements. But now the band can settle down to a well-earned rest.”

The Stones’ ‘A Bigger Bang’ tour has been beset with problems since it began last August. Several dates were rescheduled when Richards underwent brain surgery, while further delays occurred when Jagger experienced throat problems and then returned to the UK to visit his sick father, Joe, who died of pneumonia earlier this month.

Despite the difficulties, the tour is the highest-grossing in history after generating £226 million so far – overtaking U2′s ‘Vertigo’ tour, which
grossed £195 million – according to figures compiled by Billboard magazine.

The band has performed 110 shows in front of 3.5 million fans since the run of shows began last year.

Posted on andPOP:

The Rolling Stones will stay on schedule with their current tour even though guitarist Ronnie Wood checked into a rehab centre this week for alcoholism.

The band’s publicist has confirmed that the ‘A Bigger Band’ tour will restart on July 11 in Milan as planned, reported the CBC. The tour had already been delayed by Keith Richards’ head injury in Fiji.

“[Wood] needs some rest, but he will definitely be fit for the first night of the European tour,” said publicist Fran Curtis.

Wood, 59, has struggled with alcohol abuse in the past. He was also in rehab last year.

The upcoming leg of the tour will take the Rolling Stones to 21 venues in 11 countries, including Germany, Norway, Spain and Portugal.

Posted on andPOP:

China?s censors are sure to be keeping a close eye on The Rolling Stones when the band makes its mainland debut this April.

The Shanghai concert on April 8 will be part of the long-running British group?s A Bigger Bang tour.

In the late 1970s, the Stones held high-level talks about touring China but the plans fell through. The band then had two shows in China canceled in spring 2003 because of the SARS epidemic.

Even before the cancellation, the Chinese Ministry of Culture told the band it could not perform four songs ? “Let’s Spend the Night Together,” “Brown Sugar,” “Honky Tonk Women” and “Beast of Burden.” No reasons were given, but the songs are among the Stones? more sexually explicit hits.

“This time, they also probably will not play those songs,” a company employee surnamed Gu said, according to Reuters. “They know there are differences between Chinese and Western cultures. They don’t want to do anything against the Chinese government.”

The Stones, now entering their fifth decade, are touring the world in support of “A Bigger Bang,” their first studio album since 1997′s “Bridges to Babylon.” It was the top-moneymaking tour last year, hauling in a record-setting $162 million in ticket sales, according to concert trade Pollstar.
