			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Posted on <a href="http://www.andpop.com">andPOP</a>:</p><p>Psych-rock group The Mars Volta is returning with a new album in August, only a year-and-a-half after the release of their last effort, &#8220;Frances the Mute.&#8221;</p>
<p>Billboard reports that the album, titled &#8220;Amputechture,&#8221; should hit streets August 22 on Universal.</p>
<p>Keeping with the band&#8217;s catalogue of expansive songs, the eight-track record runs for more than 76 minutes, with one song (&#8220;Tetragrammaton&#8221;) taking up 17 minutes all by itself.</p>
<p>The album also features contributions from Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante.</p>
<p>Both Frusciante and The Mars Volta can be caught on tour starting in August, when the bands play venues across North America together.</p>
