Rapper THE GAME is to stand trial for threatening a man with a gun during a
basketball game earlier this year (07).
The Dreams star – real name Jayceon Taylor – appeared at Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (04Sep07) for a preliminary hearing in relation to the felony charges dating back to the February incident, in which he allegedly hit a basketball player on the opposing team before threatening to shoot him.
The hip-hop star is also facing charges of possession of a firearm in a
school zone and exhibiting the gun in the presence of a police officer, and
could be sentenced to five years behind bars if he is convicted on all counts.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Taylor is due back in court on 25 September (07) – just five days after he is
due to appear in court to face separate charges of impersonating a police
officer last November (06). (MT/WNWCAG/JC)

Rapper THE GAME was forced to cancel a gig in New Zealand because of a mystery illness, according to reports.
The Dreams star was due to perform as part of the Roc Tha Block Tour
alongside Akon, Naughty By Nature and Sisqo at Auckland’s Vector Arena on Saturday (01Sep07), but pulled out of the gig without explanation.
Sources at the venue insist concert-goers were informed of The Game’s
impending no-show prior to the event, after he missed tour dates in the
Australian cities of Adelaide and Sydney earlier that week (30&31Aug07)
suffering from an ‘mystery illness’.
A source tells AllHipHop.com, “Venue officials notified concert-goers that
the rapper was feeling unwell and would not be performing.
“Audiences were offered full ticket refunds at the door. I would assume that the reason for The Game’s absence at the Auckland stopover was because he had not recovered from whatever illness he was suffering from on the previous two dates.” (JC/WNWCAH/ES)

Hip-hop stars THE GAME and TIMBALAND are being sued by an Indian music and film company, who allege the pair sampled one of their songs without permission.
Saregama India Ltd has filed a copyright infringement suit against Interscope, Universal Music Group, Aftermath Entertainment, G-Unit Records, Czar Entertainment, Timbaland’s Virginia Beach Music and The Game’s Black Wall Street in Manhattan Federal Court, New York, according to AllHipHop.com.
The company claims one of its songs was used in The Game’s track Put You On The Game – which was produced by Timbaland – from his 2005 album The Documentary.
Saregama India own almost 50 per cent of all the music recorded in the Asian country and in 2002 filed a lawsuit against Dr. Dre for illegally sampling Indian artist Lata Mangeshkar’s voice on Truth Hurts’ hit song Addictive.

Rapper THE GAME has hinted his third album might be his last, insisting he has achieved all of his musical goals.
The Dreams star – real name Jayceon Taylor – rose to fame in 2005 following the success of his debut album, The Documentary, and has received two Grammy nominations.
His second album, Doctor’s Advocate, also shot straight to number one on both the United World Chart and the Billboard 200.
Despite his huge success however, the hip-hop star suggests it could soon be time to quit.
He tells AllHipHop.com, “I think three classic albums are good for me, you know?
“I got my point across. I was a prominent figure on the West Coast and a bigger figure in hip-hop as a whole. I think I made my impact enough for my name to be said and remembered.
“Right now I’m taking a break from Hip-Hop and enjoying time with my family and my friends.”

Rapper THE GAME yesterday pleaded not guilty to charges of impersonating a police officer.
The DREAMS star – born JAYCEON TAYLOR – was arrested on November 15 after allegedly telling a taxi driver he was an undercover cop and persuading him to run a series of red lights in downtown New York, following an appearance on DAVID LETTERMAN’s US chat show.
Authorities claim the car was then pulled over after being spotted driving erratically.
The Game later denied all accusations, accusing the New York Police Department of setting him up.
His lawyer, JEFFREY LICHTMAN, says, “The police are harassing him. They don’t even have a witness – no supporting deposition.
“It will be a slam-dunk acquittal or dismissal, it’s up to the D.A. (District Attorney). They offered us time served today and I didn’t even lift my head to respond. It’s an embarrassment for them.
“The cops follow him from the moment he lands to the moment he leaves. A limo driver freaked out, that’s it. They are harassing him, but there will be some harassment going the other way at the trial.”

Rapper THE GAME has postponed his forthcoming Canadian tour after a warrant was issued for his arrest in New York City on Tuesday.
The hip-hop star was due to perform in London, Ontario last night, but he failed to appear in court in New York this week for a hearing relating to his arrest last November for impersonating a police officer – so a warrant was issued.
A spokesperson for the star claims he will hand himself in to officials and reschedule the tour dates.

The Game sure gets creative when he wants something.
The New York police department reports that the rapper convinced a cabbie to run a series of red lights by telling him he was an undercover police officer. Police arrested the Game, real name Jayceon Taylor, Thursday night, when the cab was pulled over after Taylor’s appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman.” The cabbie had driven about 13 blocks, said police.
Taylor has been charged with impersonating a police officer.
Now, a member of the rapper’s camp says that the NYPD is specifically targeting hip-hoppers.
“This harassment of The Game and other hip-hop artists by the NYPD has got to stop — and a painful loss at trial may be just the solution,” attorney Jeffrey Lichtman told the New York Post.
Lichtman suggested that the cabbie lied to get out of trouble and that police had been after Taylor all night.
Taylor is expected to appear in court at a later date.
The Game was arrested in California over the weekend for possession of a deadly weapon.
MTV reports that the Compton rapper, born Jayceon Taylor, had his car searched after being pulled over for a traffic violation on Saturday. Police found a pair of brass knuckles in Taylor’s car.
He was released on $20,000 US bail and is expected to appear in court in about a month.
An arrest warrant was issued for The Game last month after he missed a court date in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was faces October 2005 charges related to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The Game may have taken his Halloween spirit a little too far at a mall in North Carolina this Friday. The rapper was arrested at the Four Seasons Town Centre in Greensboro, N.C., accused of causing a scene and refusing to remove a Halloween mask.
“I got arrested for signing autographs,” the Game told WFMY-TV after he was released on $500 bail. “Signing a little girl’s autograph got me arrested.”
But police said The Game, real name Jayceon Taylor, and a group of companions were behaving disruptively. Mall security officers said the rapper was wearing a full-face Halloween mask and cursing loudly, and refused to leave when asked. When police arrived, his companions surrounded officers in a threatening manner, police said, and had to be sprayed with pepper spray. Taylor was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The Game feels wronged and expressed feelings of injustice on WFMY. “They thought I was Rodney King, man. It was a case of mistaken identity,” he said. “It’s unfair, man. Their behavior’s unfair.”
