Lupe Fiasco Calls Obama A “Terrorist”

Posted by Christian Allaire on June 13th, 2011

Rapper Lupe Fiasco has called President Obama a “terrorist” during a television appearance, reports Rolling Stone.

Blasting the U.S. president during an appearance on CBC’s ‘What’s Trending,’ the rapper attacked the president’s foreign policy and declared him to be a “terrorist.”

“To me, the biggest terrorist is Obama in the United States of America,” Fiasco said. “I’m trying to fight the terrorism that’s causing the other forms of terrorism. You know the root cause of terrorists is the stuff the U.S. government allows to happen. The foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists.”

Fiasco went on to say that has no desire to vote in the 2012 presidential election.

“I don’t get involved in politics,” he said. “It’s meaningless. If I’m going to say I stand behind this person and write on a piece of paper that says, ‘Yeah, I stand for this person,’ then I have to take responsibility for everything he does cause that’s just who I am as a human being. So politicians aren’t going to do that because I don’t want you to bomb some village in the middle of nowhere.”

Although the statement is a little extreme, I see where he is coming from. I’m very often discouraged from voting as I don’t ever fully agree with the runners and their plans. But I think a vote is better than no vote. You should have a little say in who runs your country.

M.I.A. Moving To Montreal?

Posted by andPOP Staff on May 27th, 2008

Rapper M.I.A. may be moving to Montreal when her American visa expires in June.

Because her father was once a soldier in the Sri Lankan terrorist organization Tamil Tigers, she doesn’t expect her visa to be renewed.

“Basically at the moment I can choose between Montreal and London,” she told Baby Baby Baby magzine. “My mum’s like, ‘I want you here!’ I haven’t seen her in, like, forever, so I have to choose between my mum and Montreal.”

She said that she’s been making the most of her final U.S. concerts, and that Kanye West has offered to marry her to keep her in the country.

She was previously barred entrance to the States in 2006.

‘I Am Not Afraid’ to Show the World Toronto is Safe

Posted by andPOP Staff on June 13th, 2006

First it was SARSstock and this year it will be Terrorstock?

Canadian Press is reporting that Senator Jerry Grafstein, former Liberal MP Dennis Mills and political consultant Warren Kinsella – the men behind the 2003 benefit concert in Downsview Park to show the world Toronto was safe from SARS – are planning a day to show that Torontonians are not afraid of terrorist attacks.

The event will be held June 25 and is called “I Am Not Afraid.” Little is known about the planned day, except a baseball game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets, which may have some celebrities in attendance.

The event comes after 17 men were arrested in the greater Toronto Area for allegedly planning a terrorist attack on Canada. Reported targets included Parliament Hill, Bay Street in Toronto and the CBC.

More details will be released next week.
