Nicollette Sheridan Suing ‘Desparate Housewives’ Creator Marc Cherry

Actor Nicollette Sheridan, known for her role on “Desperate Housewives,” is suing the show’s creator, Marc Cherry.

According to TMZ, Sheridan is claiming that Cherry struck her across the head and face on set of the show, after she complained about him firing her. She is suing for assault and battery, gender violence and wrongful termination. She wants over $20 million.

In the lawsuit, Sheridan says that Cherry had created an unfriendly workplace from the beginning, “behaving in an extremely abusive and aggressive manner toward the individuals who work on the show.”

On September 24, 2008, Cherry allegedly physically assaulted Sheridan after she asked him about something in the script. According to the suit, “Cherry took her aside and forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head.” The lawsuit then goes on to say that after the supposed incident, Cherry went to Sheridan’s trailer to “beg forgiveness.”

Sheridan claims she reported the experience to ABC immediately, but the network did not take action and Cherry’s aggressive behaviour only got worse.

To add a nice little cherry on an already undesirable cake, the suit also alleges that when Cherry found out that “Housewives” actor Teri Hatcher went above him to complain about him, he said, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.”

‘Desperate Housewives’ Apologize Over Philippines Slur

ABC has responded to an online petition spread through the American Filipino community, many of them medical professionals.

The apology was sent to ABS-CBN, a Philippine broadcaster.

“The producers of the show and ABC studios offer our sincere apology for any offence caused by the brief reference in the season premier,” the statement said.

“There was no intent to disparage the integrity of any aspect of the medical community in the Philippines,” it said.

In the season premier of Desperate Housewives, Teri Hatcher’s character Susan Mayer asked her doctor if she could see “those diplomas because I want to make sure that they’re not from some med school in the Philippines.”

In Manila, Eduardo Ermita, Arroyo’s chief aide, responded to the quote by saying, “On the face, we can look at it as a racial slur.”

“We are looked down upon too much, considering the number of our medical professionals in the US,” he added.

Teri Hatcher Takes Film Role

Teri Hatcher is ready to try her hand at films once again.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Hatcher has signed on for the role of a TV executive in the drama “Resurrecting the Camp.”

This marks Hatcher’s first role in film since “Desperate Housewives” rejuvenated her career nearly three years ago.

The film will follow the story of a reporter (Josh Hartnett) who meets a homeless man who thinks he is a famous boxer (Samuel L. Jackson), but turns out not to be. Rod Lurie is set to direct the film.
