Justin Bieber and Cameron Diaz To Host Oil Spill Telethon with Larry King

Larry King will be hosting a two hour telethon on CNN Monday night to raise funds for victims of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, reports Associated Press. The telethon will air 8pm to 10pm EST on a special edition of “Larry King Live.”

Many A-list stars are helping out on the telethon including: Justin Bieber Cameron Diaz, Lenny Kravitz, Randy Jackson, Ted Danson, Jenny McCarthy, Tim McGraw, Alyssa Milano, Robert Redford, Ian Somerhalder, Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump, Victoria Principal and Pete Wentz. Sting will perform as well. The guests will participate in person or via satellite.

Taylor Swift Donates $500,000 to Flood Relief

During Flood Relief With Vince Gill and Friends, a telethon held Thursday night to raise money for flood relief organizations, Taylor Swift made an appearance to show her support, repots E! Online.

On Wednesday she expressed how sad she was to see the state that Nashville is in. Swift tweeted, “Please keep Nashville in your heart. Seeing a picture of the Grande Ole Opry halfway underwater was a kind of heartbreak I can’t describe.”

E! Online has confirmed that the country music star’s contribution stretches beyond words of concern, Swift has reportedly donated $500,000 to flood relief organizations.

However, Swift’s donation is just a margin of what recovery efforts will cost. Reports say that estimated clean-up costs for the areas affected by the flooding could reach upward of $1 billion.

Alexisonfire Jumps on Haiti Bandwagon

Wade McNeil, guitarist/vocalist of Alexisonfire, stated that his band will be taking an extra step to help those in need in Haiti.

The statement is as follows:

“In light of the recent tragedy in Haiti, we [Alexisonfire] have been thinking about how to help. With a disaster of this magnitude, we feel the easiest way for us to get involved is by donating money.

This will help get clean water, sanitation and medical supplies, food, and temporary shelter to the people who need it the most in Jacmel and Port-au-Prince. We will be donating all the proceeds from our online store for the month of January to the relief effort.”

‘Hope For Haiti Now’ Announces Lineup

“Hope For Haiti Now: A Global Benefit For Earthquake Relief” has announced a stellar series of concerts with all proceeds going to Haitian relief.

A superstar lineup of Wyclef Jean, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, and Sting will Appear in New York City.

Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, ?Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Kid Rock, and Sheryl Crow will take to the stage in Los Angeles.

And finally, Coldplay, Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z, and Rihanna will perform in London.

More than one hundred of the biggest names in film, television, and music will appear on “Hope for Haiti Now,” including Wyclef Jean, George Clooney, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

“Hope for Haiti Now” will be the most widely distributed telethon in history, both internationally and across all media platforms. The two-hour telethon will air on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, The CW, HBO, MTV, VH1, and CMT on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT and 7:00 p.m. CT.

“Hope for Haiti Now” will also air on newly added networks including PBS, TNT, Showtime, COMEDY CENTRAL, Bravo, E! Entertainment, National Geographic Channel, Oxygen, G4, CENTRIC, Current TV, Fuse, MLB Network, EPIX, Palladia, SoapNet, Style, Discovery Health, Planet Green, and Canadian networks including CBC Television, CTV, Global Television, and MuchMusic.

The event will be live streamed online globally across sites including YouTube, Hulu, MySpace, Fancast, AOL, MSN.com, Yahoo, Bing.com, BET.com, CNN.com, MTV.com, VH1.com, and Rhapsody.

It will also be available on mobile via Alltel, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and FloTV.

George Clooney Wants Twilight Stars for Telethon

George Clooney is holding a telethon Jan. 22 to raise disaster relief funds for those affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti, reports E! News. Sources say organizers are planning to ask Twilightstars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner to participate.

“She’d jump at the chance to do something to help,” said a source close to Stewart. However, the star is scheduled to be traveling to the Sundance Film Festival to promote Welcome to the Rileys and The Runaways during the telethon.

The telethon was initially slated to air only on MTV, but ABC, NBC, HBO and CNN have all said they will show it as well.

Big Names Join Forces for Hurricane-Relief Telethons

Much like the aftermath of Sept. 11 just four years ago, celebrities, musicians, and actors are banning together to raise money for victims of another U.S. disaster. This time, the cause is Katrina, the Category 5 hurricane that has left the Mississippi gulf and the city of New Orleans in ruins.

?A Concert for Hurricane Relief,? to be broadcast on NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC this Friday at 8 p.m. EST, will include performances by Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr., and Tim McGraw. Celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio are also scheduled to participate in the hour-long special, which will be hosted by Matt Lauer in New York. Viewers will be encouraged to donate to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

But the special which will likely draw the biggest crowd is a three-city MTV extravaganza that will feature performances by Usher, Green Day, Ludacris, and Alicia Keys. It will air live on Sept. 10 on MTV, VH1, and CMT from New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville.

“In the face of a tragedy of this scope, we simply have to do everything in our power to offer support, comfort and hope to all the people directly impacted by the hurricane,” said Judy McGrath, chair and CEO of MTV Networks, who announced the concerts yesterday. “Our goal is to join forces on every medium to get involved, to volunteer, to contribute in any way we can.”

Other artists currently on board for the event are Gretchen Wilson, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews Band, Rob Thomas, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, and David Banner. Additional performers are expected to be added to the line-up as the show draws closer. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross.
