What’s better than one Katy Perry song? Well, a whole bunch of them mashed together equals one epic track. “Tommie Sunshine’s Megasix Smash-Up” encapsulates Perry’s cupcake-bra-wearing, blue hair, braceface, extra-terrestrial, GI Jane aura.
The DJ took all her hits from the past 18 months and mixed them together in seven minutes. Included is: “Teenage Dream,” “California Gurls,” “Firework,” “The One That Got Away,” “Last Friday Night (TGIF),” and “E.T.”
The track will be included on Perry’s album Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, which comes out today. [Source]

Katy Perry’s new track “Wide Awake” from her new album Teenage Dream has a slower tempo and a more introspective feel than some of the songs we’ve heard in the past. Perhaps this is apt considering her recent breakup with husband Russell Brand.
While still being optimistic, Perry talks about what she’s learned from her mistakes: “Thunder rumbling/ Castles crumbling/ I am trying to hold on/ God knows that I tried/ Seeing the bright side/ But I’m not blind anymore/ I’m wide awake.”
Although the song was written with Bonnie McKee before her breakup the lyrics are still relevant to her life. The song is about dealing with the emotions that go along with a split and finding a newfound sense of empowerment.
The full album Teenage Dream will be out on March 27 and tonight we’ll see Perry’s music video premiere for “Part of Me.”
Listen to it here:

Now that Katy’s got her personal life back on track, she’s about to have an even busier professional life with the release of her upcoming “Teenage Dream” deluxe edition album.
MTV writes ”Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” will package a ton of remixes and three new bonus tracks.
Prior to its February 21 release date, Katy’s releasing “Part of Me” as her new single. We’ll be hearing a lot of it on the radio in the next few days. Here’s a sneak peek of the uplifting pop song:
Katy Perry is now in the history books with Michael Jackson. Perry has landed a fifth #1 hit of her platinum selling album, “Teenage Dream.” She is the only person to do this besides Michael Jackson.
“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” just climbed to #1 on the Pop Songs Billboard Charts, following “California Gurls,” featuring Snoop Dogg, “Teenage Dream”, “Firework” and “E.T.,” featuring Kanye West.
So Perry is officially a music record holder, and unquestionably pop culture royalty. Love her or hate her – you need to respect her.
Katy Perry has released a video teaser for her upcoming single ‘Last Friday Night.’
Along with a new song, Perry is also sporting a rather new look. Geek chic? Let’s just say it’s far from her fashion-forward Elle cover.
This marks Perry’s fourth single off her latest album ‘Teenage Dream.’ The video drops June 14th.
Also, thanks to a savvy YouTube commenter, I believe one can spot Rebecca Black (Friday, Friday, Gettin’ Down On Friday) at exactly 0:15 seconds. I wonder what her part will be in this!
Check it out the craziness below!
You know you’re pretty great when you beat records previously broken by yourself.
Last week, pop singer Katy Perry broke the record for most plays of a pop song in a single tracking week. Her hit ‘E.T.,’ featuring Kanye West, logged 12,330 plays on all 131 Pop Songs reporters, besting the previous record of 12,159 plays set by ‘California Gurls’ last summer.
But that’s not all. In fact, Perry holds the top four spots with all of her last four singles. Check out the numbers:
12,330, “E.T.,” Katy Perry featuring Kanye West, May 14, 2011
12,159, “California Gurls,” Katy Perry feat. Snoop Dogg, July 17, 2010
11,857, “Firework,” Katy Perry, Jan. 22, 2011
11,841, “Teenage Dream,” Katy Perry, Oct. 16, 2010
I know that every time I get into my car the XM radio is always playing a Katy Perry song of some sort, so it’s hard to disagree with this news. Must feel pretty great to be at the top – enjoy it while it lasts, and here’s to hoping for more great singles to come.
Katy Perry’s new sci-fi inspired video for “E.T.” has landed.
The fourth Number 1 single off her album Teenage Dream is directed by Floria Sigismondi (Christina Aguilera, Marilyn Manson) and stars the pop-star looking like Queen Amidala trading verses with Kanye West.
Although it may be inspired after the beloved Steven Spielberg classic starring the adorable space alien, the video has a darker Avatar-vibe feel. It’s definitely a step forward for Perry and her typical sexual silliness such as “California Gurls” or “Teenage Dream”. West is in his comfort zone and doesn’t quite steal the out-of-this-word love ballad from Perry, in fact her alien princess presence somewhat overshadows his egocentric versings.
Perry’s latest single recently shattered records on Billboard, as it became the first album to produce four No. 1 songs on the Hot 100 in six years. Teenage Dream is also the ninth album to produce four No. 1′s in the 52-year history of the Hot 100. The new single even put an end to Gaga’s reign with “Born This Way” that has dropped to number four on the Hot 100.
The video will make its television debut tonight at 7:53 p.m. on MTV, according to People.
Now this is some well-deserved respect for Mrs. Brand!
Billboard announced today that Katy Perry’s album, “Teenage Dream,” has become the first album to hold four No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 in six years, with the singles “E.T.,” “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” and “Firework.” Not only that, but “Teenage Dream” is also the ninth album ever to produce four No. 1s in the Hot 100′s 52-year history. Congrats, Katy!
“I am so thrilled that ‘E.T.’ has landed at No. 1,” Perry told Billboard.com. “I want to thank all the fans who contributed to this amazing feat and radio, which has been an essential part of my continued existence. I truly appreciate all the support of my creative twists and turns.”
The highly anticipated music video for her hit single, “E.T.” featuring Kanye West, is set to premier at noon tomorrow on MTV.com, VH1.com, and LogoTV.com, followed by its first TV appearance on MTV at 7:53, says MTV.
Leading up to the video release, Perry has been tweeting pictures of fans after having been “abducted” by aliens. The alien invasion has also taken over Perry’s website and Facebook page by more pictures of fans adorned in all different types of face paint and glitter, as well as alien-encrypted posts.
“Can’t wait to share the video with you tomorrow,” Perry told Billboard. And we can’t wait to see it!
Perezhilton.com has learned that teenage dream Katy Perry has decided to take the last name of her new husband, Russell Brand.
Katy revealed on the Ellen DeGeneres show that she would officially be known to the world as Katy Brand, and moreover, she loves the new name.
“Like if I’m at an event or something like that, and they want special attention, they go, ‘Mrs. Brand!’ And I go shwoosh [looks back].”
While I believe Katy in that she wants to take her husband’s name legally, I am skeptical as to how this translates professionally. Is her next album really going to say “Katy Brand” on the cover? Because with her tight jean-shorts, candy-land bras and wigs, and California-girl attitude, the archetype of a happily-married woman does not seem to fit Katy’s style, or brand, if you will.
Regardless of what her last name ends up being, the more significant thing to realize is how the star is clearly gushing about her new marriage and will take any chance to talk about it. Russell thinks she’s pretty without any makeup on, and thinks she’s funny when she tells the punchline wrong. Cuuttteeee.
People, what do we think???
Katy Perry has performed at many award shows in the past. She has rocked the MTV awards show and the VMA’s, with a mind-boggling version of Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” Then, Perry got engaged to VMA host Russell Brand.
And According to MTV News, Perry is not stopping there. She is set to perform at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards on June 6. Perry will play the first single, “California Gurls,” off of her new upcoming album, Teenage Dream.
“I’m proud to represent the West Coast at the MTV Movie Awards in the magical glow of the Hollywood sign with my new single ‘California Gurls,’” Perry said. “I hope it will be the theme song to a lot of summer loving; I know it will in my house!”
Perry is also joining previously announced performer Christina Aguilera at the show next month.
The award show airs live on Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET and is hosted by Aziz Ansari. Fans can vote for their favourite films and actors at MovieAwards.MTV.com. “The Hangover” is leading the way with six nominations, followed by “New Moon” and “Avatar” both with five.
Silly Beach House, didn’t your mamas ever tell you that imitation is the highest form of flattery? They did and you’re still angry? Fair enough.
Here’s the sitch. Alternative pop duo Beach House released an album called “Teen Dream” in November, 2009. And it’s just been found out that pop singer Katy Perry is set to release a new album this August. What’s it called, you ask? “Teenage Dream.”
Granted Beach House does not technically own the name “Teen Dream,” but come on. This is a little much.
Yesterday (May 10) Beach House Tweeted (@BeachHouse2010): “Can’t believe this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Dream, and not in a good way, guess we have to write a song called ‘i kiss a girl,’” referring to Perry’s scandal-smash song “I Kissed A Girl.”
The Wikipedia page they link to is one that describes Perry’s new album in all its copy-cat glory.
We’re not telling you whose side to be on, but we will say that Beach House’s “Teen Dream” was absolute musical magic and that they are awesome. But no really, it’s up to you.
