Today e-retailer Newegg.com announced the launch of its Canadian website, www.newegg.ca. Newegg is currently a well-established e-retail service in the United States and China, according to a press release from the company.
Newegg’s award-winning site allows shoppers to search and compare a wide selection of high-tech products and also includes detailed product information, peer reviews and comments from experts in the field of technology.

Newegg is also able to ship over 99 per cent of its orders within 24 hours of purchasing a product, said a press release from he company. The company has won numerous award since its start in 2001, including the Computer Shopper’s Choice Award for the fifth consecutive year.

Newegg.ca is currently offering the majority of its core products, such as an extensive inventory of computer components/accessories, gaming and computer electronics, said the press release.

The press release also noted that the launch of this new e-retail website coincides with research that shows there is a difference in the growth of e-retail between Canada and the United States.

“The research often shows that Canadians are looking for and expecting more than what is currently offered by many online retailers in this country,” said Andrea Hadley of eMetrics Canada, an industry forum for web analytics and marketing optimization in the press release from NewEgg. “Retailers such as Newegg can hope to capitalize on that gap by raising the bar for Canadian consumers and in the process earning their loyalty as customers.”

Well I may not have been the first person he emailed when he got the news like I had asked in our interview, but the news is here nonetheless.

Breaking the steadfast uncertainty on his blog this afternoon, Leo Laporte, known to his die-hard listeners as “The Tech Guy,” has officially announced that his KFI radio show is going national.

“I’m pleased to announce that Premiere Radio Networks – the biggest radio syndicator in the U.S. – has picked up my KFI radio show for syndication. We’re signing up affiliates now, so ask your local talk radio station to give Premiere a call. KFI listeners: the show will continue exactly as always. There just will be a few more people listening in,” he wrote in his blog posting.

A “few more people” listening in? He’s clearly a modest man. This syndication deal puts Leo’s show national and helps him continue to grow his tech-media dominance. In our interview last week, Leo expressed his hope to go national, saying he “felt confident it would happen.”
