Though it may clock in at just under a minute, we’re still waiting on bated breath for Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring to be released.
The Bling Ring is based on the group of Southern California teens who stole from the likes of Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton and Rachel Bilson. The teens made off with almost $3 million dollars worth of goods, most of it from Paris Hilton herself.
The Bling Ring stars none-other-than one of our favourite actresses ever, the gorgeous Emma Watson. We’ve seen her go from girl witch in the Harry Potter series to the manic pixie dream girl of Logan Lerman’s dreams in The Perks of Being A Wallflower, so it’ll be nice to see her in yet another incredibly different role.

Why do movie studios spend so much money on trailers for big, blockbusters when they can just make low budget teasers in a neighbour’s backyard? Okay, so the result of using a shaky camera phone and action figures instead of real actors is pretty shitty but then our expectations would be set so low that the movie would be AMAZING in comparison. The new official trailer for Man of Steel showcases a darker, gloomier version of your kind-hearted hero Superman, as he grapples with the possibility that the world might reject his unique alien powers. Henry Cavill (that hottie from The Tudors) stars as Clark Kent while Amy Adams is Louis Lane.
The trailer features flashbacks from Clark’s youth, including when his school bus crashed into water. He saves the nearly drowning students, however, his father disapproves of his actions and encourages him to hide his secret, even at the risk of others. Later, a fully cloaked and grown up Clark remembers haunting advice from his father: ”My father believed that if the world found out who I really was, they would reject me. He was convinced that the world wasn’t ready.”
Today Superman is seen as morally sound and idealistic with a strong sense of justice, however, he was actually rougher and more aggressive in the original comics by Siegel and Shuster.
I’m crossing my fingers the film will redeem the wreck that was 2006′s Superman Returns. Another thing working in its favour is that The Dark Knight’s Christopher Nolan is a producer.
The movie will be on screens starting June 14. Will you see it?

Trekkies can rejoice today as they finally got a glimpse of the long-awaited movie Star Trek Into Darkness, the sequel to JJ Abram’s 2009 film. Just like The Dark Knight Rises and Iron Man 3, the film seems to focus on terrorism, specifically the so-called “one-man weapon of mass destruction.”
The villain is played by Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch. “You think your world is safe,” he says in the teaser. “It is an illusion . . . A comforting lie, told to protect you . . . Enjoy these final moments of peace . . . For I have returned . . .to have – MY VENGEANCE!”
The trailer is full of epic explosions and fighting, as Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to capture the ruthless but complicated villain. The film comes out on May 17. Will you see it?

Unfortunately, if Iron Man was a low budget B-film, I don’t think many people would see it for the special effects. The once sleek and technologically savvy Iron Man suit would be limited in construction to cardboard.
Maybe the unintentionally bad acting and horrible action scenes would boost the film to a black comedy, but I’m suspecting even the underground theatres wouldn’t hop on board. YouTube duo DumbDrum created this hilarious low budget trailer for the Marvel film and uploaded it to their account Bryan Harley. In the past they’ve made low budget trailer for The Avengers and Dark Knight Rises.
Considering the second Iron Man pulled in a domestic total gross of $312,433,331, I don’t think we have to worry about them cutting back on special effects anytime soon.

In World War Z, Brad Pitt stars as a UN employee racing against time and fate as he travels the world trying to stop the outbreak of the zombie pandemic. The movie based off the hugely popular post-apocalyptic book by Max Brooks.
While I haven’t read the book, a cursory synopsis online reveals a completely different structure than the movie. Rather than an overview or narrative, World War Z is a collection of individual accounts in the form of first-person anecdotes. I understand why the movie version would focus on one person but I personally would have found it more interesting if they featured several, diverse accounts of the outbreak.
The other thing that seems to confuse online commenters is the “zombie” part. In the trailer, it looks like the zombies are fast which goes against the grain of Brooks’ book, which sought to make the outbreak as realistic as possible. In Brooks book, zombies are slow-moving undead humans, devoid of intelligence — rotting corpses.
Terraxos wrote on YouTube: “Way to screw up an adaptation. The book was interesting because it did something new. This looks like an utterly generic disaster movie; replace the zombies with anything else and you would have pretty much the same trailer.”
Based on what I’m reading I’m disappointed at the direction, however, the grand scale of the Marc Forster-directed movie certainly looks visually appealing. Have you read the book? What are your thoughts on the trailer?

TLC has topped itself once again on the douche-0-metre with their new show Extreme Cougar Wives. Yes TLC, of Breaking Amish, Honey Boo Boo and Virgin Diaries. The new show follows “extreme cougars” who are sleeping with men a third their age.
Part of me is interested in hearing about these quirky couples who break the social norm but another part of me hates that TLC aka “The Learning Channel” is thriving off these reality shows that enable you to gawk at people who are different than you — rather just learn about and appreciate them. It’s not exactly the topics TLC covers that bothers me, it’s how they edit it all together in their glitzy package.
In the teaser, 76-year-old Hattie says: “My lifestyle is extreme.” Then she sits on the lap of a 25-year-old and later licks a popsicle and tells her date she enjoys being naked. While I appreciate their attempt at showcasing different relationships they always do it in such a cringe-worthy way.

After the infuriating teaser trailer for May’s Iron Man 3, most people were dying for the longer, more substantial trailer that was promised in today’s feature. Sidenote: When did it become okay to release a teaser FOR THE TEASER? That’s just pure evil.
In Marvel’s new two minute trailer, we see our hero Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) pitted against a masked enemy who has a personal vendetta against Stark. ”Some people call me a terrorist, I consider myself a teacher,” the villain creepily says in the trailer. ”Lesson number one: heroes, there is no such thing.”
Admittedly, the villain’s voice (though higher pitched) and the comparisons to terrorism kind of remind me of The Dark Knight Rises’ Bane. It also seems much darker than the first two films.
With nearly nothing left, Stark is left to answer the question of whether the man makes the suit or the suit makes the man. The Shank Black-directed film looks like it will offer plenty of explosions, though I hope Stark’s existential crisis doesn’t destroy his infamous wit.
Just when you thought you got THAT SONG out of your heads, Carly Rae Jepsen is about to release a music video for yet ANOTHER hauntingly catchy single.
Titled “This Kiss”, the teaser for the song features the singer partying with her friends while she chases a really hot guy. And at the end of it all, it appears that they’ll FINALLY share a kiss while swimming in a pool.
From the looks of it, this track is very much a bubble gum pop song. But I don’t even care. I think I just found my next guilty pleasure jam.
We all knew attention-whore Rachel would end up lost when she started studying at NYC’s Nyada. That’s what happens to big fish in little ponds — once they move to the ocean there’s way more competition. I was expecting the Fame-esque storyline from Glee and the promo confirms they’re going in this direction, but the new season looks 10 times better than I thought it would be because Kate freaking Hudson plays a witch of a Dance 101 instructor at the academy.
While the freshman dance in leotards around her, she confidently struts across the classroom pointing out their flaws and encouraging them to embrace body dysmorphia. It looks like she’s not a fan of her students, especially Rachel, who she insists has a stuck up attitude.
It’s true though! Rachel is pretty stuck up and if there’s one thing I want from her this season, it’s to be torn apart and built back up again as a less annoying prototype of herself.

Taylor Swift and B.o.B’s new video for “Both of Us” captures them in a sweaty, southern paradise, portraying all aspects of humanity.
“This is bigger than just B.o.B and Taylor Swift, this is about all walks of life,” says B.o.B.
While the video certainly looks airy and romantic Swift and B.o.B describe how sweltering the set actually is and how they basically save each other’s LIVES when monstrous fuzzy spiders and mosquitoes attack (shudder).
Meanwhile, Taylor pretty much captivates the entire crew as they film her playing with cute dogs, while a grown man softly blows dandelion seeds into the wind. I’m loving her style in this video which is a mesh of breezy country skirts with vintage tops.
The video is premiering on MTV on June 27 but Access Hollywood got the behind the scenes look to tide us over. [Source]

I argued with the male (obvs) co-workers in my office that the amount of vengeful misfortune that befalls this one man is highly unlikely. But in the end, who cares if it’s unrealistic because now we get the second instalment of Taken, the franchise that scares the bejuice out of parents everywhere and makes them disuade their offspring from EVER travelling alone.
Anyway, retired CIA operative Bryan Mills travels to Istanbul, where the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter seeks revenge. The bedraggled father goes after Mills’ wife and precious daughter, who seems incredibly chipper considering she was recently coerced into a prostitution ring.
When it comes down to it you just don’t mess with Bryan Mills, or really any character played by Liam Neeson. The film, which also stars Maggie Grace and Rade Sherbedgia opens on Oct. 5.

Ah, to be in university again. The days of studying rowdy roommates, midnight pranks and rocking out with a broom guitar and lampshade hat.
Pixar released the new trailer for the Monsters Inc. prequel, Monsters University, where the gang go back to college. Mike and Sulley are diligent students at the University of Fear but don’t really get along.
We can’t wait to see the animated film, which stars Billy Crystal, John Goodman and Steve Buscemi, but it’s not out until 2013!!
Way to make us wait.

We’re all anticipating tonight’s release of Justin Bieber’s feature film music video for “Boyfriend,” not only so we can see the thing but also so we won’t be subjected to any more cheap 20 second teasers.
Bieber took a cue from Rihanna in this behind the scenes video of Boyfriend, describing a bit of the concept while simultaneously giving us no information at all.
“The video is just a cool video,” says Justin. Well thanks for that. “The concept is really cool, it’s basically lifestyle, you know, me, a bunch of cars, doing donuts in the parking lot.”
After seeing the behind the scenes video I’m more confused than ever. The first trailer featured girls rubbing their hands all over him so I thought it would be a darker version of Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs.” Trailer two featured fire and water so I figured it would be a deep exploration of the elements. Trailer three was some ode to Michael Jackson and E.T. But now, this behind the scenes video makes it look like he’s preparing for a Grease Lightning drag race.
I’m going to stop fretting over this because the full video, directed by Director X, is premiering tonight (finally).

After a week of teasing the teaser, the Looper trailer is finally out.
Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt, the futuristic sci-fi film revolves around an assassin (Gordon-Levitt) who jumps back in time to kill his targets. Things get complicated when he’s assigned to kill his future self (Willis).
Gordon-Levitt as a badass and time traveling? Smells like a winning combination to me.

Just when the song is starting to become catchy to me, Justin Bieber’s music video teaser for his new single “Boyfriend” seems to be making me like the song even more.
In the 20-second video, Bieber is shown standing in the shadows while several hands suddenly appear out of the darkness to stroke the singer’s face and upper body.
I can just hear all the girls squealing now.

BELIEBERS!!! Hold you breath.
In anticipation of Justin Bieber’s single “Boyfriend”, the pop star released a 47 second teaser for fans.
“Boyfriend”, the new single off the Biebs’ upcoming album Believe, will come out on Monday.
From the sounds of it, it sounds very Bieber-like…and quite catchy! But of course, not much is revealed.
Who’s excited?! Only two days left!!!!

I’m getting pretty sick of Madonna lately because it seems like every time I go online there’s a new “sneak peek” or teaser for one of her songs or videos. One teaser is enough Madonna! I don’t need to hear 30 seconds of every song you’re going to release because there’s not much I can do with those 30 seconds.
Anyway, she finally released the full video for her previously teased song “Girl Gone Wild.” A leather-clad and sometimes chained Madonna dances around smoking men wearing spikes and heels. The black and white video is pretty tepid but I like it because it reminds me of classic erotic Madonna.

The new sneak peek for Breaking Dawn Part 2 is here and it’s… 15 seconds? I feel so jipped.
It’s clear they wanted to preserve some of the mystery shrouding the newly turned Bella and what she’ll look like as a fang-toothed vampire, but they could have given us a little bit more.
The preview features a quick glimpse of Bella running through the forest, then one line reactions from her two favourite men, both semi-positive of course. Jacob says he didn’t expect her to seem so human while Edward is happy that they’re the same temperature now. Yea, it’s always a bonus when you can emerge from the dead with the vitals of a vampire but the heart of a human.
The full trailer for the Nov. 16 movie will be released next Monday so hold tight!

Taylor Swift released a teaser commercial for her perfume “Wunderstruck.”
In the video, Taylor is walking through a mansion in a stunning layered gown as she says in a voiceover: “It’s a spark, a connection, a rush of something new. Once you’ve been struck, you’ll never be the same again.”
The fragrance is supposed to come out this month.
