If you dislike Soulja Boy, perhaps you just don’t fully understand him. Well, you are in luck! There is a new Soulja Boy documentary coming out which should clear up misconceptions about the rapper.

Soulja Boy – The Movie will take an in-depth look at the artist, and discuss his power of social media and his musical talent. The film is directed by Peter Spirer, who has made films about Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G. and the Beefseries.

Spirer says, “Soulja Boy is undoubtedly one of the most creative, entrepreneurial hip-hop artists I have ever dealt with. His ability to monetize the internet and his grasp of social media is unparalleled. I think sometimes the press, the public and his peers dismiss him due to lack of understanding or jealousy, and that’s where I hope my film comes in — a straight forward intimate look at a talented young man.”

Soulja Boy Buys $55 Million Private Jet

Soulja Boy has just bought a $55 Million customized jet for his 21st Birthday, reports TMZ.

This is no ordinary jet either. The base price for the G5 is $35 Million, but then there were a bunch of add ons worth $20 Million. Real necessities like:

- 12 custom Italian leather chairs

- Flat screen TVs

- 4 liquor bars

- Brazilian hardwood cabinets

- Customized bathroom

- Custom paint job including his logo

And if that’s not enough, Soulja is also throwing himself a $300,000 birthday party tonight in Miami.

We trust many girls will be Supermanned tonight. However, it is really amazing that this amount of money can be amassed just from this dance/song (and a couple other songs, but mostly this song/dance).

Actor Jackie Cooper Dies at 88

People.com reports that Jackie Cooper, former actor, died at 88 on Tuesday night in a hospital in Beverly Hills due to a brief illness. No other details have been leaked.

Cooper got his start acting as a child. He was the first child to ever be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1931 for his role in Skipper. Cooper was only nine-years-old at the time.

Cooper continued acting and played the staunch editor of the Daily Planet Newspaper in four Superman movies. He was also a television actor with minor roles on Murder, She Wrote and St. Elsewhere. Cooper was very multifaceted, he also was an Emmy-winning TV director.

Superman renounces American citizenship

After 899 issues of the legendary DC comic, the title hero renounced his American citizenship in issue #900.

According to ComicsAlliance, the nine-hundredth issue follows Superman as he flies to Tehran, Iran, to help protestors demonstrating against the Iranian regime. It isn’t long though, before the security advisor to the U.S. president becomes upset with him, when the Iranian government assumes Superman was sent there by America as an action of war.

When he realizes the consequence of his actions, Superman decides he will renounce his American citizenship at the United Nations, so that he may fight crime from a more global perspective.

Despite being an illegal alien himself, literally, the Krypton-born superhero says, “‘Truth, justice and the American way,’ – it’s just not enough anymore.”

Perhaps his statement is startling for many loyal readers, who have always identified the Smallville-raised farm boy as a born-and-bred American. Superman though, explains in the issue that he “can’t help but see the bigger picture” and that the world is “too small, too connected” for him to identify himself as being only an American.

In a statement to CNN, DC Comics co-publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio said, “Superman is a visitor from a distant planet who has long embraced American values. As a character and an icon, he embodies the best of the American Way,” they said.

“Superman announces his intention to put a global focus on his never ending battle, but he remains, as always, committed to his adopted home and his roots as a Kansas farm boy from Smallville.”

Justice League Movie will be a Stand Alone

A sudden wave of new superhero films has just emerged in the film industry. Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer) is rebooting the Spider-Man series, Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch) is rebooting the Superman series, and news broke out yesterday that the Justice League film is back in action as it has been placed back on Warner Brother’s schedule.

Comingsoon.net reports that the Justice League film will not be related to Zack Snyder’s Superman project nor to the forthcoming Dark Night Rises. The ensemble film, featuring Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and others, will be a stand alone story.

HeyUguys.co.uk spoke with Snyder on the red carpet for the premiere of Sucker Punch about the Justice League film, Snyder said, ”Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I’m doing with ‘Superman’, what they’ll do with ‘Justice League’ will be it’s own thing with its own Batman and own Superman. We’ll be over here with our movie and they’ll kinda get to do it twice, which is kind of cool.”

Hopefully Warner Bros. will sign on a well known director to front the project and cast some strong leads. The film will have to compete with all the other superhero films being so they have to create a strong narrative. We don’t want to see another flop like The Avengers.

Amy Adams is the new Lois Lane

Looks like Superman has finally found the Lois Lane to his Clark Kent.

E! Online confirmed today, that Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have announced that 36-year-old Amy Adams has been cast as Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman remake, directed by Sucker Punch director, Zack Snyder. The actress will take on the fast-talking, no-nonsense reporter who nabs the heart of the adorably awkward Clark Kent. The role has previously been portrayed by actresses like Kate Bosworth in Superman Returns, Erica Durance in the television drama Smallville, and of course — the original Lois — Margot Kidder.

Snyder has already tapped Diane Lane and Kevin Costner to play Clark’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Kent, and 27-year-old Henry Cavill to play the legendary DC superhero himself.

Nearly a 10 year difference, huh? Looks like Clark Kent has got himself a sugar-mama.

In a statement, Snyder said that “Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about. So we are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful.”

Almost a decade older or not, I think Adams will fit the role quite well. Her wonderful sense of humour and comedic timing alone puts her ahead of previous Lane incarnation, Kate Bosworth. Bosworth attempted the role in the 2006 film, Superman Returns, alongisde one-time Man of Steel, Brandon Routh. The film, which also starred Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, was a box office hit, but Bosworth’s portrayal of Lane and the seemingly flat romance between she and Routh, recieved mixed reviews.

Roger Ebert went as far as to say that, “Lois Lane has lost her dash and pizzaz,” and compared the chemistry between original Superman and Lois Lane duo, Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder, observing that the new pair seem “tongue-tied” and “awkward.”

Ouch.

Though some may be skeptical of the age-gap in casting and its resulting effect on the main couple’s chemistry, I’m confident after watching Adams in films like Enchanted and The Fighter, that she has the range to be the perfect Lois Lane. She is, after all, just coming off of an Oscar nomination for The Fighter.

Look up in the sky Zach, ”It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s –” your next cinematic hit.

Just don’t make another Sucker Punch. Please.

Diane Lane to Play Martha Kent in Superman

Warner Brothers has just announced that Diane Lane (Unfaithful) will play Martha Kent in director, Zack Snyder’s reboot of “Superman”.

EW.com reports that Warner Brothers is thrilled to have Lane taking on the role of the adoptive mother of Kal-El/Superman/Clark Kent (Henry Cavill).

As reported before, Christopher Nolan is producing the film so it is sure to have a series of complex characters and a dramatic story line, not to mention a gloomy cityscape. Henry Cavill and Diane Lane are the only actors of the film to be officially announced. There is no word as to which Hollywood beauty will be playing Lois Lane, but be sure that they are all vying for the coveted role.

Michael Rosenbaum Returns to Smallville

In some very exciting news for fans of the Superman spinoff Smallville, past star Michael Rosenbaum will return to the show for the season finale, of course reprising his role as Lex Luthor. The episode will air May 13th and will be 2 hours long. EEEEEEEEE.

Perez Hilton is reporting that after a year of speculation, Rosenbaum and producers were finally able to come to an agreement to get him back for the finale.

“I’m delighted to return for the series finale. I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made Smallville the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness, and even their threats,” Rosenbaum said. “I can’t wait to hug the old crew back in Vancouver one last time and see all of my old friends once again. Oh, and for Lex to become the bad-ass he’s destined to be.”

The execs behind the show also appear delighted to have Rosenbaum back, knowing he was a fan favourite.

“”It feels like the stars are aligning, literally. We couldn’t be more excited. And as far as the way he returns… there’ll be no doubt about how Lex becomes the great rival in Clark Kent’s life. He is the villain of the story,” said executive producer Brian Peterson.

Five for Fighting – The Anthem of a Nation

John Ondrasik from Five for Fighting is a man who initially had trouble breaking through to find his audience. In 2000 he released an album called “America Town,” which initially was mediocre from a sales standpoint. However on that album was a song called “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” which became the anthem for America after the September 11 attacks. Since then Five for Fighting has been a constant hit machine. John is trying to keep that rhythm going with his latest album “Slice.”

Superman to Fly Again in 2009?

Despite Superman’s dismal performance at the North American box office, Brian Singer aims to have its sequel out in 2009.

Reuters reports that the “Superman Returns” director announced at Comic Con last week that he did have plans for a sequel, however, things are not written in stone for the sequel quite yet.

“I plan to get all ‘Wrath of Khan’ on it,” Singer said, referencing the Star Trek film which gave new life to the franchise in 1982.

“We haven’t concluded a deal. That’s always iffy. The intention is to do it for 2009,” he said.

Superman And Other Heroes Make Their Stamp Debut

In his latest turn, Superman will definitely not be moving as fast as a speeding bullet.

Superman, along with other DC Comic heroes like Batman and Wonder Woman, will appear on new U.S. stamps being released today, the Associated Press reports.

They will make their debut at a San Diego comic book festival, then will be released nationwide tomorrow.

The stamps will be sold in books of 20, some of just the super heroes and others will have pictures of the various famous covers of some of their comic books.

The United States Postal Service says although this is the first set of super hero stamps, more will likely follow in the future.

Will Superman Make His Money Back?

Despite costing $204 million, the critics are divided as to whether the Man of Steal will make his money back or not, E! Online reports.

Depending on which report you believe, “Superman Returns” has brought in at least $100 million in its first seven days. In its first weekend, the movie brought in $84 million ? far from what many expected the film would take in.

Now experts are wondering if the film will break the $200 million mark, or make its money back at all, in the domestic box office.

“Superman’s not a slam dunk to reach $200 million domestically,” BoxOfficeMojo.com’s Brandon Gray said Wednesday to E! Online.

According to E!, only 66 movies which cost as much as “Superman Returns” did have made their money back.

“When you spend that much money on a picture, the picture is intended to devour the box office. It needs to be better than strong, it needs to be record-breaking,” Gray said.

“Superman Returns” will have to face its biggest competition this weekend when “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” opens.

Krrish Bringing Bollywood Box Office Up

Superman may be flying high at the North American box office, but Bollywood’s first superhero, Krrish, is also raking in big in India.

“Krrish” is expected to take his box office total to $22 million this weekend, Reuters reports.

The Bollywood superhero is very similar to North America’s Superman, only he can sing and dance, as well as perform superhuman tricks.

The film is also similar to the man in steel, as the film tells the story of a hero trying to save the world from a mad scientist.

“Krrish” has propelled the movie industry in India to earning close to $70 million this year ? making this year’s box office revenue better than the last few.

“2006 looks set to be one of the best years for Bollywood in recent times,” Taran Adarsh, a leading Bollywood analyst, said to Reuters.

Superman Reviews Flying High

It’s been in the works for a long time with many different directors and actors set to star in it, but if you were expecting the worst, so far it seems like Superman can still fly.

Reuters reports that “Superman Returns” is getting excellent reviews from critics, especially for the new Man of Steel, Brandon Routh.

“Superman Returns” is the fifth movie since Christopher Reeve took over playing the role, but takes place after the second movie. It tells the story of Superman returning after a five-year absence and his relevancy is questioned.

The Daily Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Newsweek and Time have all given excellent reviews of the film.

It opens in theatres next Wednesday.

Superman Flies Into Theatres Early

The newest Superman film will open two days earlier than expected, Entertainment Weekly reports.

“Superman Returns” starring Brandon Routh as Superman was set to open June 30, which was a Friday. However, Warner Brothers has announced it will open on June 28 instead.

EW speculates the film is opening on the Wednesday instead of the Friday because the weekend is the U.S. long weekend ? and this year it will be quite the long weekend.

With “Superman Returns” opening on the Wednesday, this means its first weekend in theatres will be a seven day weekend (usually box office tallies are done on the Monday after the film’s release, but because Independence Day lands on a Tuesday, the numbers won’t be counted until then).

EW also points out the move is a way to get ahead in box office revenue from “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” which opens July 7.

Warner Brother’s denies these claims, saying they were “eyeing the June 28 date from the beginning.”

Superman’s Stunt Double Suffers from Injuries

Even Superman runs the risk of getting hurt.

At least that’s what happened to his stuntman.

Christopher Sayour, a high-profile stunt double for actor Tom Welling on the series Smallville is in serious condition after a fall on Tuesday at Langley’s film set in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The 35 year-old suffered internal injuries and multiple fractures.

Reports state Sayour fell from a structure as high as ten metres.

The RCMP made a statement saying foul play was not a factor.

“There’s nothing suspicious, it’s an industrial accident,” said Cpl. Diane Blain of the RCMP.

Sayour is part of a small and elite group of about 55 stunt members belonging to Stunts Canada.

His work includes I, Robot, Star Trek: Nemesis, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Reefer MAdness: The Movie Musical.
