Stones Tragedy In Spain As Stage Collapses

The ROLLING STONES triumphant return to Madrid, Spain on Thursday night has been marred by the deaths of two workers, who were killed while dismantling the supergroup’s stage.

Benno Goldewijk, 44, from Holland, and Spaniard Alfredo Pecina Matias, 38, were removing the set when they fell to their deaths from a 33 foot structure.

Three more people were injured in the accident at the Vicente Calderon stadium and are now in hospital.

A spokesman for group said they were “deeply saddened” to hear the news.

He said: “Their heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery go out to the injured and their profound sympathies to the deceased.”

The Rolling Stones, currently on the European leg of their A Bigger Band world tour, are due to play in El Eijido, Spain, this weekend

Stones Rocker Banned From Daughter’s Wedding

Rolling stones rocker RONNIE WOOD has been banned from performing at his daughter’s wedding because she doesn’t want her father to cause any embarrassment.

Instead, socialite Leah Wood wants veteran musician Prince to perform at her upcoming nuptials to British journalist Jack MacDonald.

She says, “He’s asked if he can do a set but I’ve said no way. I love my dad, but he’s too embarrassing. Other people may think it’s cool – but not me. I wouldn’t get a wink of sleep thinking about what he might get up to. I want Prince to perform instead.”

Stones Deny Live Earth Reports

THE ROLLING STONES have denied reports they will headline the Live Earth show at London’s Wembley Stadium this summer.

The story, originally reported on the Fox News website by columnist ROGER FRIEDMAN, claimed the BROWN SUGAR rockers were set to perform at the concert series promoting awareness of climate change.

However, the Stones, who no longer perform on consecutive nights, would have had to postpone their July 6 show in Rome to play the gig.

A spokesman for the band said, “Not happening.”

Rolling Stones Planning New Tour For 2007?

Rock legends The Rolling Stones are planning a new tour for 2007, according to reports.

The band only recently completed their smash hit A Bigger Bang trek – but sources claim they are hooked on hitting the road and are planning to make the next road trip more spectacular than ever.

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Star, “The Stones are well aware of their reputation as being innovators in the live sector and don’t want to do anything by half measures. The tour went so well last year they decided there was not point in taking a lengthy break.

“They’re all up for doing any project they can and playing live is one of their favourite ways to spend their time.

“Going on the road this summer is part of their schedule and promises to be just as exciting as last time.”

Mick Jagger’s Father Passes Away

Sir Mick Jagger was comforted by his present lover and past loves as he said goodbye to his father yesterday (28.11.06).

The Rolling Stones singer – accompanied by his American girlfriend L’Wren Scott – quietly sobbed as he laid his 93-year-old father Joe to rest during a private service in West London.

Other mourners included Sir Mick’s ex-wives Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall and ex-lover Marsha Hunt, who came along to pay their respects with Mick’s children, which included Jade, Elizabeth, Georgia May, Karis and James. Brazilian model Luciana Morad – who is the mother of Mick’s son Lucas – was not present.

An onlooker said: “Sir Mick looked very sad as he looked at his father’s coffin. He was very reflective most of the time. He seemed really grateful for the support of all the family members he had around him.”

Dressed in a black suit and tie and wearing sunglasses, Mick greeted friends including Stones’ drummer Charlie Watts and charity campaigner Sir Bob Geldof as they arrived for the service at St Mary’s College church, in Teddington.

The 63-year-old singer is believed to have sung a song in tribute to his father – who he has often described as the greatest influence on his life – during the ceremony.

Mick was devastated when the former PE teacher passed away in hospital earlier this month following a fall in his home in October.

The rocker had only recently left Joe’s bedside to rejoin his band in the US on their “A Bigger Bang” tour after being told his father’s condition was improving.

Keith Richards of Rolling Stones Alert after Brain Surgery

Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones is recovering after undergoing brain surgery Monday in New Zealand.

The legendary guitarist needed the surgery to relieve pressure in his head after he reportedly fell late last month.

Richards will require a few weeks of recuperation, according to the Associated Press.

LD Communications released a statement saying Richards was alert and talking after the surgery.

“Last week Keith was under observation in Auckland following a fall in Fiji and was feeling well after being examined by doctors last week,” read the statement. “However after complaining of headaches yesterday, doctors thought it prudent to move ahead with a small operation to remove the pressure.”

The Stones were to begin a tour this month in Europe, but it will be delayed until June.

Richards, 62, hurt himself April 27 while vacationing in Fiji. Some reports say he fell out of a tree while picking coconuts, while others said he fell while jet skiing.
