Stone Debuts Anti-Iraq War Ad

Moviemaker OLIVER STONE has debuted a new hard-hitting political ad against the war in Iraq, using a former sergeant as his star.

The Platoon director filmed John Bruhns pleading to US military officials to pull soldiers out of Iraq as part of a new 30-second TV ad, sponsored by the MoveOn.org political action group.

Bruhns, who fought in Iraq during the 2003 invasion, says, “We were told to liberate these people. They were shooting at us… To keep American soldiers in Iraq for an indefinite period of time, being attacked by an unidentifiable enemy, is wrong, immoral and irresponsible.”

Paralyzed Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic, the author of Born on the Fourth of July, which inspired Stone’s anti-war film of the same name, supplies a brief voice-over in the TV spot, stating, “Support our troops. Bring them home.”

The new ad aired on news network CNN in America last night.

Stone: ‘Beau Didn’t Know How To Love Me’

Soul singer JOSS STONE’s ex-boyfriend BEAU DOZIER made her feel insecure during their 18 month relationship and refused to visit her in her native England.

The YOU HAD ME star and producer Dozier began dating in 2004 – when Stone was just 17 – when they were co-writing some of the tracks on her second album MIND, BODY AND SOUL.

However, after enduring a transatlantic relationship for a year and a half, they split in November 2005.

Stone says, “He is still a friend, but he was wrong for me in lots of ways. So many things happened that will never go away; it was painful.

“Beau is a good guy, but he didn’t know how to love me.

“He would never come to see me in England, which is the reason I spent so much time in LA. (Our break-up) was mutual. I cried for, like, a year. I was so in love with him.

“He would turns things around – I blame myself for everything anyway, so it got worse.”

Estevez To Play CIA Mastermind In Stone’s Post-9/11 Movie

EMILIO ESTEVEZ has signed on to star in director OLIVER STONE’s follow-up to 9/11 drama WORLD TRADE CENTER, according to Internet reports.

TheHollywoodNews.com claims the actor/director has become the first name attached to JAWBREAKER.

The film focuses on America’s response to the terrorist attacks with the invasion of Afghanistan and hunt for OSAMA BIN LADEN, and is based on CIA mastermind GARY BERNSTEN’s memoir about the invasion.

Bernsten co-ordinated the efforts of the CIA and Special Operations Forces to end Taliban rule in the Middle East.

Estevez was Stone’s first choice for the lead in Vietnam movie PLATOON, but brother CHARLIE SHEEN landed the role instead.

Stone Has High Praise For Extras

Hollywood actress SHARON STONE has praised the talented extras in her latest movie BOBBY – and wishes there was an accolade equivalent of an Academy Award for the budding stars.

The BASIC INSTINCT beauty appears alongside WILLIAM H MACY, HEATHER GRAHAM, CHRISTIAN SLATER and DEMI MOORE in the EMILIO ESTEVEZ-directed movie about the 1968 assassination of US Senator ROBERT F. KENNEDY.

Stone says, “I wish there was an Oscar for extras. I’m not even joking because the performances they gave are so compelling and so rich and so deep.”
