Nerds rejoice! Star Wars is joining forces with “Glee” this coming season.

US Magazine writes the special holiday episode of the hit show “Glee” will air next Tuesday.

Matthew Morrison recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and said George Lucas gave permission to fly Chewbacca in for a taping of the show.

“It’s a throwback and a tribute to the Star Wars holiday special and the Judy Garland Christmas special,” Matthew explains the upcoming episode.

The Glee stars didn’t let an opportunity for a photo-op with Chewie pass by. Chris Colfer who plays Kurt is posing with the furry wookie in the photo above.

Harry Potter has grossed $2.223 Billion throughout the entire franchise, compared to Star Wars’ $2.217 Billion, reports EW. These are the only two movie franchises in history to surpass $2 Billion.

However, Star Wars continues to be the most viewed movie franchise in history, which has sold twice as many tickets at the box office. Because of inflation, Harry Potter earned the top spot for ticket sales.

Fox and Lucasfilm have confirmed the saga’s first 3D-converted instalment will be released on February 10, 2012. And it will all start with the adventures of Jar Jar Binks…

Following the re-release of ‘Star Wars I – The Phantom Menace’ in 2012, the other five parts will be annually released in numerical order. By avoiding release during the summer blockbuster season, Lucas and friends will definitely take the opportunity to reprise the merchandising franchise of Star Wars memorabilia. Fingers crossed for a re-release of the aluminum lunch pails.

There has been an unsurprising whiplash of criticism over the 3D conversions and the studio said in a statement that the films were “supervised by Industrial Light & Magic, the meticulous conversion is being done with utmost respect for source material and with a keen eye for both technological considerations and artistic intentions.”

According to the L.A. Times, there will be a string of 3D re-releases in 2012. Those include James Cameron’s ‘Titanic’ that will sail into theatres in April.

It didn’t take long for Lucas-heads to developed a video to go with it.

This soon-to-be Bieber classic was given such raw emotion by Jones, that it immediately brings to mind other recent renditions of modern classics. Remember when Josh Groban sung Kanye West’s tweets in his flawless tenor? Or how about Christopher Walken bedazzled the world with his reading of Lady Gaga’s beloved “Poker Face”?

Shatner… the ball is in your court now.

TMZ reports the incident happened at 3:00am on Sunday morning outside a hotel where the convention was taking place. Adrianne claims a drunken man reached up her skirt and “molested” her. Cops apparently took more than hour to respond to the call.

George Lucas, the mastermind behind all things Star Wars, is at it again. Lucas has announced plans to spin off an animated comedy television series that will, in the words of Lucas’ company Lucasfilm, ”look at the saga’s characters with a playful and irreverent tone,” reports E! Online.

Recruited to the project (which is currently still untitled) is Seth Green, who has earned Emmy nominations for spoofing the Star Wars crew in Robot Chicken.

“It’s crazy to think that there aren’t normal, mundane, everyday problems in a world so well-defined,” said Green. “What do these characters do when they’re not overthrowing Empires?”

There is currently no information on which network will air the comedy.

Posted on andPOP:

It’s the return of ‘Star Wars’ — sort of.

George Lucas is bringing his sci-fi saga back to the big screen this summer in the form of a new animated movie called “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”

The 100-minute film picks up between the events of “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith,” and will feature a host of familiar faces including Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala.

The film will serve as the launching pad for an upcoming Star Wars animation series, to air on the Cartoon Network and then TNT. The show will air as a series of half-hour mini-movies.

Lucas is overseeing production on both the film and the television series. “I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell,” he said in a statement. “I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward.”

“Star Wars: The Clone Wars” will open on August 15.

Posted on andPOP:

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away Lucas Arts released their most beloved Star Wars game to date: Star Wars Battlefront. This week I decided to rent the much-anticipated sequel. Star Wars games have always been great. My favourite used to be Jedi Knight II but this one is clearly the champ. Heck, even if you?re one of those people who dislike Star Wars ? well, you don?t realise it but you?re actually the nerd ? you?re sure to like this game.

This is just one of those titles that?s so good it?s hard to believe it exists. I?m not the biggest Star Wars geek out there but I still know the difference between a Tie-fighter and an X-wing. The concept is so impressive that it has to be good; a Star Wars game in which you can use virtually any character or any ship in an all out war.

If you didn?t play BF2?s predecessor I?ll give you the skinny: it?s third-person action and you choose your Star Wars faction, e.g., dark side, light side, gungans, trade federation, to begin a conquest that spans the galaxies. In levels, you typically have an infantry of more than a hundred at your disposal. Depending on the level there are often vehicles such as speeders and weapons such as turrets you can take advantage of. For the most part all you have to worry about is defending and taking over territories. In the main one player mode, you need credits, which are awarded when you are victorious, to make progresss and so that you can unlock new soldiers and upgrades.

For the most part they actually didn?t change the game all that much. There are some serious differences, such as the fact that the battles are not always on the ground. In the one player mode I found I often had to defend a fleet of my ships from an attack of another fleet! This meant hopping in a an X-wing, making it across a m?l?e of enemy fighters and missiles, infiltrating the master ship and then taking it apart from the inside out.

Another new feature that most people who were excited about this sequel are sure to be pleased with is the new playable characters. In the original, characters such as Darth Vader and Luke, would be there with you on the field fighting by your side but you couldn?t control them, no you?d be stuck with the regular soldiers of the infantry ? not anymore. Now you can use credits to buy a special character for a level. I found that using these characters could turn the tide on what might have been an unsuccessful battle. And let?s just face it, frying enemies with force lightning thanks to Darth Sidious is always a treat.

I played the Xbox version but I know this title?s also available for PS2 and even PSP. I should mention that whenever I have a choice of playing a game on PS2 or Xbox I usually go with PS2 version simply because I prefer the controller. Yet, clearly Xbox?s games always boast the smoothest graphics. The lush forests, the detailed planets and stars, the vast mountainous terrains, all were beautifully rendered. It had me thinking about what we are really in for with 360.

I don?t have a membership to Xbox Live but this game was just screaming for it. I was able to play two-player co-op and the human element in a game like this really made a difference. Mind you, the A.I. won?t disappoint in the one player mode.

If you?re a Star Wars fan and if you haven?t tried this one, then you are actually not much of a Star Wars fan ? so maybe you have a chance of having a love life. Seriously now, this title is a good investment: it will last you a long time, it?s easy for people to learn so it makes for good multiplayer sessions and it?s got the always important fun-factor.

Beads of sweat trickle down your face. “WHAT the #@&%?!” you scream.

This may had been the reaction of one anonymous bidder?s spouse after hearing he/she won the light saber used by Mark Hamill (who played Luke Skywalker in the original “Star Wars”), during an auction on Friday.

The light saber sold for $200,600 U.S. plus an 18 per cent fee from the auction house.

The movie props and costumes auction, which was held by Profiles in History, included 75 pieces from the producer of the first two ?Star Wars?- Gary Kurtz?s private collection.

The auction items were to help raise money for a public film archive.

Other ?Stars Wars? memorabilia sold for over one hundred thousand dollars; such as the light saber used by the character Darth Vader.

Props like a leather jacket worn by Harrison Ford in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” and a leather jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in “The Terminator? also sold for over $40,000.

Identities of the buyers were undisclosed.

Posted on andPOP:

To nobody’s surprise, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith was North America’s top grossing movie of the week. The most impressive thing about it was just how well it did.

Through the weekend, the latest Star Wars movie took in $158.5 million.

The movie now holds the record for the highest 3-day and 4-day box office earnings.

In the first three days (Thursday at midnight until Saturday), it earned $124.7 million. That’s about $10 million more than Spider-Man in 2002.

It also holds the highest single-day record, earning a whopping $50 million on Thursday.

Its highest 4-day opening beats 2003′s The Matrix Reloaded.

George Lucas can also brag about his $144.7 million made overseas this weekend. Add it all up and Star Wars brought in more that $300 million.

Monster-in-Law with Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez was oh so close, with $14.4 million this weekend. If only it made $100 million more and we would have had a close race.

Kicking & Screaming, Will Ferrell’s filler between blockbusters, finished in third.

Despite tough competition next week with The Longest Yard and Madagascar, Fox is hoping its Star Wars release will end up on top again.

Top 10
1. Star Wars: Episode III ? Revenge of the Sith, $108.5-million
2. Monster-in-Law, $14.4-million
3. Kicking & Screaming, $10.5-million
4. Crash, $5.5 million
5. Unleashed, $3.8-million
6. Kingdom of Heaven, $3.4-million
7. House of Wax, $3.2-million
8. The Interpreter, $2.8-million
9. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, $2-million
10. Mindhunters, $909,049
