Anti-Valentines 15-Song Playlist

Posted by @coltondaniel on February 11th, 2012

As the holiest day of chocolate and flowers approaches, we thought we’d help those in need with a playlist of some of the greatest break-up or heartbreak songs of all time.

Almost every song on the radio seems to be about love, right? It’s the time of the year when the lonely feel loneliest and it seems like everyone else is playing tonsil-hockey, smiling and you have nothing except a Ryan Gosling marathon and a tub of Ben and Jerrys waiting at home. Well, we can’t do anything about that – but we can provide a melancholy soundtrack of some of the saddest songs of all time. We’ll venture into the 80s with some Joy Division, Springsteen, U2 and Pat Benetar while visiting ballads from modern artists like Cee-Lo, Beyonce and of course – Adele.

Enjoy wisely. Stare out your window at the falling rain if you have to.

Springsteen Feels Wrath of Local Union

Posted by andPOP Staff on June 15th, 2006

Bruce Springsteen only filled half of the seats at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee at his show last night, due to a boycott and bashing of the Boss’ chosen venue, the Associated Press reports.

Springsteen was dissed because he held his concert in a concert hall that was not unionized, while on a tour singing the songs of Pete Seeger, a pro-union artist.

“We’re not really protesting. We just want people to know Springsteen’s taking the music of a very pro-union campaign into a venue like that,” Paul Friday, the co-ordinator of the Milwaukee chapter of a union of musicians, actors and stage hands.

Fred Frank, president of Frank Productions in Madison, Wisconsin, who booked the show at the Bradley Centre, said the venue was chosen due to its seating capacity ? not its union status.
