Walk Off The Earth’s Mike Taylor speaks on camera for what is possibly the first time ever in this ANDPOP exclusive.
Known as the “beard guy” to countless YouTube commenters, Taylor plays a round of ping pong against ANDPOP’s host Simon Mohos before he and the rest of the band embark on their world tour.
Walk Off The Earth exploded onto the scene after the band’s 5 people 1 instrument cover of Gotye’s “Somebody I Used To Know” went viral. The band have since gained over 300 million video views on YouTube alone and over a million subscribers.
For Taylor, “R.E.V.O.” (Realize Every Victory Outright) is more than just an album title—it’s how the band leads their own lives. He says he wants to inspire their fans to “shoot for the stars, stay positive, don’t let anything get in your way and realize your goals.”
“Do something you’ll believe in that’s fresh, a little different,” he said.
As Taylor spills the secrets on how to live a happy life to Simon, Simon returns the favour by teaching him how to say the Hungarian equivalent to “F—k, yeah!” It’s a skill we’re sure will come in handy when the band lands in Budapest, Hungary during their world tour.
Make sure to watch the video below to not only hear him speak but to see who comes out victorious in the most vicious and exciting sudden death ping pong match you’ll ever see.
Fans of electronic dance music were baffled at the inclusion of an unknown performer in the Best Dance Recording category for the 55th annual Grammys. Nominated among Avicii’s “Levels,” Calvin Harris and Ne-Yo’s “Let’s Go” and Skrillex and Sirah’s “Bangarang,” was Al Walser’s ”I Can’t Live Without You.” HUH? Considering the calibre of the artists nominated it was surprising that a relative unknown was included… especially after you watch the quality of his music video.
Walser’s Facebook page currently has 1586 likes (compared to the millions for his competitors) and up until this morning at 6 am, the two official versions of his YouTube music video had fewer than 7000 views combined, according to Spin.
There were a few other disappointments last night when the Grammy nominations were revealed. including snubs for One Direction and Justin Bieber. Of course, there were some class acts that got nominated (including Mumford and Sons) but then there were a few questionable nods.
Something seems fishy about this particular one. Do you think he deserved to be nominated or his he the Rebecca Black of dance music?

The pop bassist stated on his blog that “Fall Out Boy is on break … but I can’t predict that I’d ever play in Fall Out Boy again.”
If that’s not enough, then just hear what frontman Patrick Stump had to say.
“I am not in Fall Out Boy right now,” he told Spin.com.
Perez Hilton reports High School Musical‘s Zac Efron may be given the lead in an upcoming film based on the novel Spin by Robert Rave.
Hilton describes the film as “like Devil Wears Prada, only with sex, drugs, and a homoerotic bathroom scene with Efron’s character.”
The role Efron, 21, is being considered for is that of Taylor Green, “a recent college graduate from the Midwest who works for one of New York City’s most wretched publicists.”
