There was a spider on this guy’s computer screen and instead of taking the predator approach, finding a Kleenex and killing the critter on the spot, he gave him the gift of a trippy journey to Ry Legit hyperspace. Note: no spiders were harmed in the making of this video. Also, apparently they both co-exist in harmony to this very day. [Source]
If you’ve ever wanted to confuse the crap out of the creepy crawlies lurking around your house, then look no further. By creating a maze and adding extra lines for this tiny spider, watching how easily this creature gets trolled makes for some funny entertainment.
If someone decided to name climate change after one of the Rolling Stones, perhaps the world would take it more seriously.
That’s the genius behind a German scientist who recently discovered a new species of arachnid in Malaysia and dubbed it heteropoda davidbowie, according to the Telegraph UK. Peter Jager said he did so hoping it would draw attention to the plight of the species, which is often shirked on endangered animals lists.
Bowie was chosen as the namesake for the large, yellow, hairy spider (a genuinely freaky looking thing) because of his penchant for spider references in his music. His 1972 The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars was followed by an international Glass Spider tour.
Jager has reportedly discovered more than 200 kinds of spiders in his last ten years of work. And Bowie isn’t the only celebrity to have warranted a namesake, according to Exclaim Magazine.
In certainly a unique form of flattery, a biologist has named a species of spider after Neil Young.
According to CBC, the “Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi” is a kind of trapdoor spider, discovered by Jason Bond of East Carolina University.
In an official statement, Bond explained that “There are rather strict rules about how you name new species. As long as these rules are followed you can give a new species just about any name you please. With regards to Neil Young, I really enjoy his music and have had a great appreciation of him as an activist for peace and justice.”
Bond found the species in 2007, in Jefferson County, Alabama.
SPIDER-MAN director SAM RAIMI is unsure about superhero franchise’s future – insisting he does not what his “future holds yet.”
Despite this year’s release of Spider-Man 3 setting the box-office alight, it’s rumoured Raimi will not be back for the fourth installment if actors Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst do not return.
He tells MTV News, “Sony Pictures is going to be making many more Spider-Man pictures. I just don’t know what (my) future holds yet.”
“It would be really hard for me to make a movie without Tobey and Kirsten playing the two leads.
“I would still hope that Sony would offer it to me (to direct) first.
