Beyonce’s cover of Amy Winhouse’s “Back To Black” for The Great Gatsby dropped yesterday. Today, a cover of Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” was released today. It’s Beyoncé-ption.
Recorded by Emeli Sandé and the Bryan Ferry Orchestra, the cover puts its own unique spin on the song with its jazzy take. It’ll sound great on screen as a backdrop to the films anticipated party and dramatic scenes.
It is safe to say that the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby is the most highly anticipated soundtrack of the year. With tracks by Fergie and Lana Del Rey amongst many other huge names, this Jay-Z produced soundtrack will explode once it’s out on May 7.
LISTEN TO CRAZY IN LOVE HERE:
Lana Del Rey joins the likes of Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Florence and the Machine on the already legendary soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming flick, The Great Gatsby. Del Rey’s contribution, “Young and the Beautiful,” is one of the first to surface.
The song seems to be reflective of the movie’s themes, and as most Del Rey songs do, has a great unique sound.
The lyrics, “Will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful / Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul / I know you will, I know you will / I know that you will,” are reminiscent of Gatsby’s (Leonardo DiCaprio) relationship with Daisy Buchanan (Carrie Mulligan). Between this and Beyonce’s Back to Black cover, it seems like this soundtrack may just be the soundtrack of the year.
The soundtrack for The Great Gatsby will be released three days before the films release, on May 7. Del Rey’s track is already available on iTunes.
LISTEN TO “YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL” BY LANA DEL REY HERE:
“Almost Home,” Mariah Carey’s newest song, has been released from the soundtrack of the “Oz Great an Powerful” soundtrack. This song is ideal to play over the credits of a feel good disney-esque movie. It makes me nostalgic, remembering her and Whitney Houston’s “When You Believe” from the Prince of Egypt soundtrack.
The music video of the song, to be directed by David LaChappelle, will include clips from the movie.
The song seems very appropriate for the film. It’s been a long time since a song like this has been attached to a new movie, for it is normally indie bands or top 40 artists who have lately recorded for movies. I’m thinking every soundtrack for every past Twilight movie that has had artists ranging from Taylor Swift to Paramore record songs. Thank you Mariah Carey for bringing back sweet ballads to disney films.
Oz The Great and Powerful,” starring James Franco, Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz, will hit theatres on March 8. music

I’m nearly finished reading the glorious novel Fifty Shades of Grey but now I wish I waited a couple weeks so I could read it while listening to this soundtrack. Author EL James curated the songs that Anastasia “Submissive” Steele and Christian “Dominant” Grey would listen during their saucy BDSM affair, on YouTube.
The playlist includes Britney Spears’ “Toxic” and Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire,” along with some classical picks. She conveniently included the specific scenes that the song would play over, for instance, Ana listens to Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire”when she’s driving back to WSU.
We’ll just have to see if they end up using any of the tracks in the anticipated movie. Unfortunately Emma Watson nixed rumours that she’s playing our main heroine, though Vampire Diaries’ star Ian Somerhalder said he’d be up for playing Christian Grey.
What do you think of the playlist? What song would you want to hear in the movie?

Even if you’re not into The Hunger Games like me, you have to admit they’ve wrangled up some of the most current artists for the movie’s soundtrack.
Kid Cudi recently dropped his track for the franchise called “The Ruler & The Killer.” The song is appropriately dark and haunting and I can imagine the tributes stalking their prey to this cut. The rapping is reminiscent of chanting too, which only reaffirms that the 12 districts are unwilling pawns of the Capitol.
Cudi rhymes: “Keep your mind in motion, yeah / Explain, yeah/ Remember you belong to me / Come on, we should get it going / Now, what I want is specific, hey, hey / You putting on a show for me / The ruler and the killer, baby.”
We already heard Taylor Swift’s song Safe & Sound and Arcade Fire’s Abraham’s Daughter. What do you think of this one?
Listen to it here:

The Arcade Fire really channeled the eerie and epic vibe of Hunger Games when creating the lead song to the soundtrack, “Abraham’s Daughter.”
The band’s frontman, Win Butler, told Entertainment Weekly:
“Our whole approach was to get into the world and try to create something that serves the story and the film. There’s something in the story of Abraham and Isaac that I think resonates with the themes in the film, like sacrificing children. So we made a weird, apocryphal, alternate-universe version of that, where it’s as if Abraham had a daughter — kind of a metaphor for Katniss.”
The band puts a lot of thought into their music and you can tell. The song, which was recorded last month, will be played over the film’s closing credits. They also contributed another song for the movie’s score called “Horn of Plenty.”
Hunger Games is certainly racking up a mega soundtrack considering we recently heard Taylor Swift’s song “Safe & Sound.” The T Bone Burnett-produced soundtrack also features the Decemberists, Kid Cudi and Miranda Lambert and will hit shelves on March 20.
Here is the full soundtrack, just to torture you:

If you’re a fan of penguins, dancing, and Pink (never really thought it was possible for a movie to showcase all of those at the same time…), then you’d better be heading to the movies on November 18th for the release of Happy Feet 2 in 3D!
The movie not only features star singer Pink in the movie as Gloria, but it even features her vocals on multiple songs from the soundtrack, highlighted by a song of her own, Bridge of Light.
This song works perfectly for a movie because the instrumental aspects of it are very moving with simple lyrics to display emotions. Lyrically, the song isn’t the strongest, but when you take into consideration that it’s part of the soundtrack of Happy Feet 2, it kind of makes sense.
The song talks about how even in the darkest situations all you need is love to build a bridge of light. So if you’re in the kind of mood that only a bridge of light could solve, be sure to give it a listen.
Although getting included on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack is huge, The Joy Formidable aren’t fazed. In fact they aren’t that familiar with Twilight, and they have no idea what they are in for.
“I can’t say I’ve ever read one. I haven’t seen the films either, but I have heard the soundtracks, and I was familiar with some of the songs, you know, Metric and the Black Keys,” frontwoman Ritzy Bryan told MTV News. “So I was more aware of the musical side of ‘Twilight’ than I was the books or the movies. Actually, I know very little [about the books]. I know they’re about vampires, and I know they’ve connected very much with an audience … so they’re obviously much enjoyed by a lot of people.”
That’s crazy!
The Breaking Dawn soundtrack has been revealed. We already knew about Bruno Mars, but some surprises were added to the list.

Attention all Jersey Shore fans, get those fists pumping. On July 20, MTV and Universal Republic Records are going to release the Jersey Shore Soundtrack, reports MTV News.
The soundtrack will consist of a collection of songs inspired by the hit series.
The first single off of the album is “I Like It,” which is a collaboration between Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull. The club-ready single will be available on iTunes, May 5.
The album features other artists including: Lil Jon, LMFAO, Taio Cruz and Akon.
“MTV is excited to join forces with Universal Republic Records to bring the Jersey Shore Soundtrack to the show’s fans,” Amy Doyle, executive vice president of music and talent programming strategy, MTV brands, said. “From the clubs to the gym, there is going to be a lot of fist pumping and booty shaking going on this summer, and that’s just at my house.”
A deluxe edition of the soundtrack will also be available, which will include a bonus second CD, packed with music inspired by the first season of the “Shore.”
But don’t worry, the fist pumping doesn’t end there.
Fans still have the second season of the show to look forward to. The show will follow Snooki, the Situation, JWoww, DJ Pauly D and the gang down to Miami’s South Beach before returning to their house in Seaside Heights.

According to Variety.com, Avril Lavigne will release a new track titled “Alice Underground” for the soundtrack of Tim Burton’s upcoming remake of Alice In Wonderland.
Lavigne joins a stellar team of musicians on the soundtrack f0r the new adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic, which already includes a collaboration of Blink-182′s Mark Hoppus and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, and a brand new track from All Time Low.
Despite the trio of bands and their pop-punk natures, Wentz assured MTV that his work with Hoppus was outside the box.
O.A.R. had a chat with us on a recent Toronto stop about being on The Twilight soundtrack and their indirect connection with Kristen Stewart (it’s one of those weird Kevin Bacon connections). Also we discussed how they have been able to consistently stay relevant all these years. Cool guys and a great interview – check it out!
Had enough of vampires? Too bad. If you’re not a fan of Twilight, you’re a clear minority these days.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack has been propelled to the Number One spot on the Billboard Top 200 after one week on the shelves and digital services, reports rollingstone.com.
The album sold an additional 153,000 copies this week – a 33 per cent increase over its debut week on sale. Tim McGraw’s Southern Voice debuted at Number Two and Michael Buble’s Crazy Love dropped to Number Three after a two-week reign at Number One.
According to current estimations, however, New Moon‘s time at the top of the charts will be short-lived. Another, and perhaps even more hyped, soundtrack is expected to take New Moon‘s place: Michael Jackson’s This Is It.
The soundtrack that coincides with the documentary film of the same name is estimated to sell 300,000 to 350,000 copies, giving the late King of Pop his sixth Number One album on the Top 200, and his first since Invincible from 2001. While Jackson’s 2003 greatest hits album Number Ones is the year’s bestselling album with 2.2 million copies sold, it was not eligible for the Top 200 when it was taking the top spot in sales following Jackson’s death on June 25.

If you haven’t heard of “Band of Skulls,” you will very soon. These UK rockers had the first ever global iTunes “Single of the Week” back in April for their debut song “I Know What I am,” and they just keep taking the rock world by storm.
The trio were voted Best Live Band at Toronto’s NXNE festival in June and are fresh off Lollapalooza. Twi-hards may already know “Band of Skulls” has been confirmed to be included alongside Radiohead and Muse in the upcoming “New Moon” Soundtrack, out in November.
There’s a possibility Jonas Brothers fans could hear their favourite brothers singing a track on the soundtrack for “New Moon,” the highly anticipated sequel to vampire-flick “Twilight.”
“The movie was obviously a huge success, and if they asked us to be a part of [the sequel], that would be great,” Nick Jonas told MTV News.
The “Twilight” soundtrack opened in the top spot on the Billboard albums chart upon its release in November. The soundtrack featured bands like Linkin Park, Perry Farrell, Collective Soul and Paramore.
Director Chris Weitz is set to begin filming the “Twilight” sequel “New Moon” next month. However, tracks for the film’s soundtrack have not yet been confirmed, so it is still unclear if the Jonas Brothers will be writing a song for the album.
The brothers still haven’t watched the film. “I haven’t seen it. But I have heard it’s a great movie.” Joe Jonas told MTV news.
