Slumdog Millionaire Star Gets New Home

Slumdog MillionaireSlumdog Millionaire star Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail and his family moved into a home of their own this weekend, reports E! Online. The family’s illegal shack was bulldozed by the government in May. They have never owned their own home before.

Danny Boyle, who directed Slumdog Millionaire, and Christian Colson, who produced it, set up the Jai Ho Trust to help the film’s young stars. The trust contributed $50,000 toward purchasing the house.

“I like it here, it is really nice,” said Ismail, 10. “But I will miss my old friends back in Bandra. Maybe I will go and visit them once in a while.”

Father Of Slumdog Millionaire Star Cleared Of Charge

“Slumdog Millionaire” star Rubina Ali and her father, Rafiq Qureshi have been headlining news across the world after a British tabloid accused Ali’s father of attempting to sell her into illegal adoption. However, Qureshi has been cleared of wrongdoing by Mumbai police, as reported by Reuters.

“So far there is no evidence of any offense, hence there is no registration of complaint and no arrest,” Nisar Tamboli, a senior police officer, said to the agency.

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ Actor Joins ‘24′

Anil KapoorBollywood star Anil Kapoor is making the leap to North American television.

The actor, who gained worldwide recognition as the game show host in last year’s Oscar-winning film “Slumdog Millionaire,” has joined the cast of Fox’s “24″ for its upcoming eighth season.

As a series regular, Kapoor will play a Middle Eastern leader who comes to the U.S. on a peacemaking mission. The role is the actor’s first American TV gig.
