Even if you’re not into Skrillex or dubstep (no judgement) you have to appreciate how different styles of music can be interpreted through unexpected genres, giving it a completely new sound. Recently we saw that with Skrillex’ “Bangarang” which was covered by an epic Dutch choir — even Skrillex loved it.
Check out how his track “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” can be flipped around in three different styles, making it hauntingly and strangely beautiful. [Source]

Have you ever wondered what you would get if you mixed dubstep with a little a cappella? Let me tell you: AWESOMENESS. A Dutch choir performed Skrillex’s “Bangarang” at a radio station, led by composer Dario Fo.
Skrillex posted the video on his Facebook earlier today where he was rather impressed saying: “this is awesome, i fukn LOVE dutch choirs.” So do we! Shout to all my Lost Boys.

Today is filled with lessons. Kids learn all about Skrillex, Mac Lethal teaches us about the difference between your and you’re and Brittany learns how to properly pronounce dougie (she says it with an Australian accent).

Kids can be brutally honest about what they think, which is why they’re so endearing. Noisey decided to have them review Skrillex’s dubstep track “Bangarang” and get their honest feedback. They fully immersed themselves in electronic culture too, dancing in blue wigs and neon paint while confetti swirls around them. Still, they weren’t the hugest fans.
Here are some of their best comments:
“It sounds like my dog.”
“Robot music.”
“This song makes me feel ccrazy, like I’ve eaten loads of sweets.”
“This music makes me want to slap my sister’s slap butt.”
“I think nightclubs is stupid.”
“[Skrillex] looks like a crocodile.”
“His hair looks like a girl and his face looks like a boy and that’s so funny.”

Instead of playing boring old Scrabble on your next game night, why not opt for Skillex: The Boardgame instead? It’s educational and fun for all ages. Plus, it includes all the elements that make a chipper night. It tests your music knowledge and of course, your ability to withstand intense pain. The pain in question is Skrillex’s music, which (duh) we all love, but you have to admit when it’s turned up at full blast it can be a little rough on your eardrums.
One of the challenges in the Speed Round is to name 10 things that AREN’T Skrillex, which is apparently difficult: phone, computer, comberbunds, pummelo, Skrillex. Damn. I lose.

If you were to draw a celebrity, Skrillex would probably be one of the most recognizable faces. Undercut. Glasses. Earrings. Done.
The dubstep maestro has finally made it big time guys. Sure, he reached success with “Bangarang” but now he’s a clue in the app “Draw Something.” If you’re not familiar with the game, players alternate between drawing pictures and guessing what the image is supposed to be. In the past, Beyonce, Eminem and The Beatles have been clues in the game but Sonny Moore Skrillex might be a little more challenging. Though he has a lot of identifiable traits, some players might not be as familiar with him as you are.
How much is he worth? Three coins as a “hard” clue, but that seems a little low to us.

Skrillex is raking in on his collaborations lately. He recently released a track with the surviving members of The Doros and teamed up with his girlfriend Ellie Goulding and Swedish House Mafia, reportedly for Goulding’s new album.
Last week he dropped “Make It Bun Dem,” with Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, which is available on iTunes today. The tune combines the DJ’s electronic sounds with Marley’s softer reggae, making it the perfect tune for summer. You’d think the two styles wouldn’t work together but it’s a nice mix of mellow vocals with harder beats.

If you’re a celebrity and haven’t been hounded by Stalker Sarah, you’re probably not all that important. The 16-year-old, who lives in LA, has met EVERY famous person, from Katy Perry to Skrillex to Josh Hutcherson.
She has over 4600 photos on her Flickr account of her posing with tabloid headliners, which is how she earned the nickname “Stalker Sarah.” Strangely, in every photo she stands to the right of the celeb in question and has the exact same smile. She’s even developed a strategy to silently stalk her prey, intuitively waiting outside restaurants and airport terminals like the paps.
Sarah has eyes and ears across the city and was there to jump to Lindsay Lohan’s defence after her alleged hit and run. She served as an eyewitness for TMZ:

According to Jezebel she’s so well known she now attends events with celebrities, including a Nylon party and Perez Hilton’s birthday. While part of me is slightly concerned, I’m impressed the girl is so persistant! Plus she seems to be pretty positive about her encounters. Check out her photostream here.

In Skrillex and Kaskade’s new video for “Lick It,” a rave refugee walks through a frozen wasteland covering her blood-squiring ears. FYI, that raver happens to be Icelandic actress and soccer player Anita Lisa Svansdottir.
While the visual is kind of disturbing, we’re glad to hear the song, which is the latest track from Kaskade’s Fire & Ice. Skrillex and Kaskade have different vibes but maybe that’s why it works.
“Skrillex and I have different styles,” Kaskade told MTV, “but that is part of what made it fun. I like doing the unexpected, and this track and video is something truly distinctive.”
Watch it below:

Songbird Ellie Goulding performed “Lights” on Ellen today, from her CD of the same name, and her performance just confirms that the Brits are on a roll. After her performance Ellen said she loves the song and Ellie — who was still on a music high — looked like she couldn’t believe she was there.
It was recently announced that Ellie and her boyfriend Skrillex will be recording with Swedish House Mafia for her new album. Only good things can come of this collaboration!
Watch her performance below:

Skrillex relayed his online bullying miseries to Pitchfork, saying he’s been slapped with a lot of cruel words on Facebook. To his credit, Skrillex just doesn’t care.
“I don’t care if people hate me. I mean, I get it. When you were young, you were like, ‘The Backstreet Boys are gay!’ He said: “And kids are on computers now. I’ll post something on Facebook, and then, within two seconds, there are comments: ‘Fuck you dude… you suck… pussy… bitch… faggot… you ruined dubstep… emo.’ But if you look at their profiles, they’re so young.”
Most people have experienced some form of online bullying, whether it’s on Facebook, Twitter or their blog. It’s a good message for Skrillex to push to his fans. Half of these users are protected by the shield of anonymity and are probably just taking out their own frustrations on someone else.
In the same interview, Skrillex said he turned down the chance to collaborate with the Foo Fighters and Deadmau5, which is surprising considering Deadmau5 was seemingly against big name collaborations.
Skrillex will headline this summer’s South West Four Weekender and is fresh off his SXSW performance.

There are a few amazing things about this photo. First of all, Selena Gomez (furthest left) is wearing an amazing red wig and her “Spring Breakers” co-star Ashley Benson has pink tipped hair. Next, Skrillex is holding a Capri Sun (word) which makes me remember all the cafeteria “trades” I made in elementary school. Capri Sun was a hot commodity…
The most obvious draw to the photo is the company. Okay, so the fact that Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Skrillex and Ashley Benson are hanging out together isn’t earth shattering news, but it’s still an unlikely foursome.
They posed for the photo after Skrillex finished his DJ set at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Pop princess meets indie songbird meets dubstep ruler meets PLL star — what were they chatting about? [Source]
Shakira loves Skrillex
Shakira loves Skrillex so much that when she heard to song on her car radio in Barcelona she blasted it and started dancing.
Justin and Carly collaboration

Justin Bieber is doing everything he can to help his new artist Carly Rae Jepsen, even if that means collaborating with her. Jepsen mentioned in an interview with Ryan Seacrest that they’re working on a song that will be released soon. Bieber has been doing everything he can to promote her. On top of signing Jepsen to his own label, he called up some of his Disney friends and had them dance to “Call Me Maybe.”
Madonna’s “Girl Gone Wild” video
Snippets of songs from Madonna’s new album have been hitting us all week (to an annoying degree) and now we have a clip of her new video for “Girl Gone Wild.” Madonna gyrates with a bunch of male dancers in the black and white teaser. The video kind of reminds of Madonna’s earlier days.
Demi trashed hotels for fun

Demi Lovato has gone through some dark days and apparently she used to trash hotel rooms for kicks. In an interview with NYC radio Z103, she confessed to throwing things when she’s bored. “I break things,” she said. I’ve trashed dressing rooms just for the hell of it.” She also said she has thrown deli meat on the ceiling when she’s bored.
Taylor Swift rolls in cash
Taylor Swift was voted the number one moneymaker by Billboard. The country singer is only 22, but she still pocketed more cash from her album sales and world tour than U2, Lil Wayne and Lady Gaga, who were also on the Top 40 list.
Brittany discusses Christina Hendricks’ leaked photos, Justin Bieber’s $10.8 million “treat” and Skrillex’s love life.
Today in Twitter stalking Selena Gomez is making us wish we were poolside with a cold beverage in one hand and the latest glossy in another. The Disney star tweeted this photo of her sunning. Must be nice Selena… must be nice.
Skrillex is only making things worth with his glorious tweets about beach beers, Aussie dogs in Perthfect, Australia. I wonder if girlfriend Ellie Goulding joined him.
Jason Segel gets our tweet of the day. Or rather tweets… excessive tweets. It’s a novel really. Segel declared his undying affection for Ricky Gervais. Although the comedian tweeted him back he promptly deleted the messages so we can only fill in the banks. The first batch of Segel’s love letter is above and the rest are below.

Hey, I guess emailing a girl you’ve never met and sparking an internet romance works when you’re Skrillex. The dubstep DJ and producer revealed to Rolling Stone that he asked Ellie Goulding out over email.
He said in the interview that before they ever met he sent her an unsolicited email that basically said: “‘I’m Skrillex. I don’t know if you know who I am, but I love your shit.’” He then said: “We started texting and talking on the phone.” Eventually Goulding even made a special trip out to see him.
Skrillex, who recently won three Grammys, added: “I love her. She’s my fucking girl.”
Online dating can be shady sometimes but I guess if you’re a celebrity and your private life is public, you feel like you already know your fellow artists.
The dubstep hipster cat finally has a friend and his name is Mishka.
Mishka the dubstep dog has funky glasses just like his feline equivalent and can break it down just as well. Sadly he doesn’t don a creepy handlebar mustache like the tabby but we’ll live. Anyway, this husky and the cat should totally be backups for Skrillex.
The Ting Tings’ cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Born to Die” is good, but not as good as the original. The acoustic cover is less haunting and little more folksy than Lana Del Rey’s version and randomly includes a shout out to Skrillex.
We hear the soothing songbird voice and guitar and then — wait for it — someone screams “CALL 911 NOW!” Though it doesn’t fit the vibe of the song, they were just having fun with it. After the performance, lead singer Katie White laughed: “Can I just press that button again?” to replay Skrillex.
The duo covered the song for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. How do you like it compared to the original?

The answer: 19 Skrillex songs mashed into one sounds like Skrillex overdosing on amphetamines. Youtube user Frannintendo mashed all the songs into one and I find it’s barely listenable.
Beware, it could possibly cause compulsive eye spasms and leg twitches. If you can identify a couple of the songs in the mix, you are a Skrillex genius. If not, here are they are:
In For The Kill (Skrillex Remix)
First of the Equinox
Cinema (Skrillex Remix)
Still Getting It
Needed
Breakin’ A Sweat
Hey Sexy Lady (Skrillex Remix)
Roughneck (FULL Flex)
Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites
Scatta
Kill Everybody
Rock ‘N’ Roll
Bangarang
Right On Time
Alejandro (Skrillex Remix)
The Devil’s Den
Disco Rangers
Syndicate
Right In
You can hardly recognize some of these musicians back when they were teens. It shows the dramatic transformation some celebs go through (ahem Marilyn Manson, Madonna), although others look virtually the same, like Katy Perry above.
The photos remind me of the Skrillex evolution we saw last week. I don’t think my high school pictures are so unrecognizable but I will say I rocked a pretty intense side bang.
