Didn’t Rebecca Black learn from the 3 million plus dislikes she received for her viral music video “Friday?” Yes, yes she did. She learned that one bad song could hit Billboard’s Hot 100, get covered by Glee, score her a spot on Jay Leno and in Katy Perry’s music video, and result in her own record label.
Her new song “Sing It” isn’t “Friday” bad. That said, it’s not really good either. It’s a typical formulaic pop song that’s (surprise) illustrated with her and her friends biking, lip synching and dancing on the beach.
Still, you have to admire the girl for turning her viral hit into a career. It’s hard to remember that Black is only 14 years old and received a lot of hate and even death threats online. While most people would cower in the shadows, Black had an entrepreneurial spirit. So let’s give her a little credit.
