Effortless style is easy to have during the warmer seasons. Mostly because you can just put on a short dress paired with some cute flats and you’re good to go. Emma Watson put the trendy in casual while she was shopping in New York City this week. Love her pairing of the drawstring pants, a simple striped tee and cardigan. Those soft yellow loafers just add to this actress’s effortless style.

Asides from buying cheese blocks the size of your head for relatively dirt cheap (okay, I’m exaggerating about the size of the cheese) and the abundance of free samples, having to peruse items that only come in JUMBO size in a warehouse is a depressing concept. There are no boyfriend chairs to sit on as you wait for you significant other to debate the merits of buying the 30 pack of batteries versus the 40 pack, and the only feeling you will get after you consume their poutine is regret. But if you’re going to spend an hour or two in a Costco on your much valued weekend time, you might as well have fun, right? Here are 5 inappropriate things to do at Costco that’ll help you kill some time.
1. Strategically pose some stuffed animals
Because you know that some parent out there will have to explain the Birds and the Bees to their kids that day.
2. Change a sign

Is it wrong if it’s accurate?
3. Do some strategic product placement

If you know someone who works at Costco and has a fork lift license, why wouldn’t you?
4. More clever stuffed toy placement

This is what camping is all about, right?
5. Have a Costco hotdog eating contest with another bored patron

They’re 1.50 EACH!
Or you can just try to find a comfy display to sleep in to try and pass the time.

Black. A colour that is perfect for the not-so-glorious weather we’ve been having here in Toronto. Thank you Miranda Kerr for dressing in head-to-toe black this week in New York with a key piece that is trending and very popular this season…leather! Finding the perfect fit in leather pants especially can be tough. My suggestion is to go for leather leggings if you’re having trouble finding pants that are a comfortable fit for your body.
Want to deck out in black? Try these pieces:
BDG Slant Pullover Sweater, Urban Outfitters, $40
Faux Leather Panel Leggings, Forever21, $28
Satin Platform Pumps, Forever21, $36
Box Chain Crossbody, Forever21, $24
A lumberjack shirt is a must have, despite of what season it is. It’s the trend that never goes out of style. Finding the appropriate pieces to match it with is key to making this look work. The best way is usually to add darker colours with a touch of brown. I am loving Ashley Benson’s lumberjack and laced-up boots combination – you got the dark tones and the brown.
Want to perfect your lumberjack look? Try these pieces:
Checked shirt, ZARA, $60
Denim Jeggings, ZARA, $40
Straight-cut coat, ZARA, $90
Studded Cowboy Boots, ZARA, $50

The temperatures have dropped immensely in Toronto this week and Dakota Fanning’s LAX attire was the perfect look of bundled-up fashion. Fur is one of the best ways to stay warm. And one of the most stylish accessories one can possess during these harsh weather conditions. I love the combination between the leather boots and the fur; two must-haves this winter season.
Want to bundle up with style? Try these pieces.
Combined Leopardskin Parka, ZARA, $80
Oversize Maxi Sweater, ZARA, $20
Kaatz, Aldo, $100 Read more…

Jessica Alba is probably one of the most stylish moms in Hollywood. She was spotted with her baby at F&S Fabrics for the Home in Los Angeles earlier this week donning this two-tone jacket with leather sleeves paired with Dr. Martens boots. This look defines comfort and style; both of which Jessica is often seen doing while she’s out and about!
Want the look? Try these pieces:
Two-tone zip jacket, ZARA, $70
Skinny jeans, ZARA, $20
Dr. Martens 1460 boots, Urban Outfitters, $130 Read more…

Anne Hathaway is a dedicated follower of fashion but it appears she has taken some inspiration from Les Misérables co-star Hugh Jackman as she donned this very foppish-sleek Saint Laurent black tux with gothic nails. I am loving the dark attire Anne has been wearing these days on the red carpet. Opting out of gowns and dresses for this chic look is definitely the way to go. This look is professional enough for the office yet dressy enough to wear to a party.
After the first actual snow fall of the season, we all need to get our sweater-swag on! Miley Cyrus is the queen of comfort and edge and combined both these elements while grabbing a cup of coffee from Starbucks in Toluca Lake, California a few days ago. She donned a pair of grey leopard print pants with an overgrown sweater tucked in to show off her vintage-looking belt. Leopard print is the perfect way to transform a simple outfit into a statement look.

Sweater, ZARA, $50
Leopard-Print Trousers, ZARA, $50
Studded Oxford Shoes, ZARA, $40 Read more…
Blake Lively donned a red-orange leather mini Isabel Marant dress at the 12/12/12 Sandy Relief concert held in New York at Madison Square Garden last week. The studded embellishment on the tough leather is truly something we all need to incorporate into our holiday wardrobe. Sequins and glitter are a given during the holiday season but this unique combination adds edge to a simple look. I love how she paired nude accessories with this oh-so-bright colour – a colour we normally don’t see very often in the winter time.
Want to get this red carpet look? Try these pieces:
Studded Bodycon Dress, Zara, $60
High-Heel Two-Tone Sandal, Zara, $90
Colour-blocking is a must this season and reality star Kourtney Kardashian was camera ready while shopping filming her reality show in Miami with Kim Kardashian. Kourtney stepped out into the sun in an olive green peplum skirt blocking it with a simple salmon coloured blouse. The key to colour blocking is finding accessories that are the same colour. Too many different colours can result in you looking like a clown (not cute). The black heels, bag and sunglasses are perfect for this pop-of-colour ensemble.
Want a pop-of-colour in your wardrobe? Try these pieces:
Sequined Collar Layered Shirt, Forever 21, $30
Paneled Peplum Skirt, Forever 21, $24
Finding the perfect holiday outfit can be difficult, but Kendall Jenner just made it a little bit easier! Leather is a must do this winter/holiday season and that’s exactly what Kendall donned at KIIS FM’s 2012 Jingle Ball; a high-waisted leather mini. She paired it with a casual top and a statement pair of ankle boots. Leather can often be taken as “trying too hard” but this look is effortless!
Want to try a similar look this holiday? Try these pieces:
Sheer Sequined Metallic Tank, Forever 21, $24
Pleated Faux Leather Skirt, Forever 21, $28
High Heel Studded Ankle Boots, ZARA, $100
Guess who got all dolled up to celebrate Thanksgiving with her family last week? Gwen Stefani and husband Gavin Rossdale took their boys to Gwen’s parents house in Los Angeles for Thanksgiving dinner. Gwen’s nerd-chic attire is a must-do this season. The plaid shorts and sweater combo is very appropriate for the occasion; dressy but not over the top!
Want to look nerd-chic? Try these pieces:
Sweater, H&M, $15
Jacquard Zippered Shorts, Forever 21, $24
Garlinger, Aldo, $130
The holiday season is just around the corner so why not get your festive spirit on by adding some velvet into your winter wardrobe? Miley Cyrus already has. This Disney graduate was seen out and about earlier this week in New York City donning a velvet skirt paired with what looks to be a faux fur sweater and biker boots. I love the combination of the two textures! Perfect way to add hard edge into your look.
Do you want to experiment with textures? Try these pieces:
Velveteen skater dress, Forever 21, $24
Bejeweled faux fur jacket, Forever 21, $60
Black lily biker boots by CJG, TOPSHOP, $239 Read more…
Florals might be hibernating this season but animal prints are so on! British TV personality Alexa Chung incorporated three of my favourites at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York last week; lace, leopard print and Chanel! A Chanel bag and lace is expected at a lingerie fashion show, but when you add a print like the cheetah print, it adds a harder edge. Her plain black coat really ties this outfit together!
Long sleeve lace dress, Forever 21, $28
City bag with chains, Zara, $50
Just because it’s getting chilly out, doesn’t mean you can’t show a little leg! Model Miranda Kerr shows off her legs in thigh-high leather boots while on her way to shoot the new campaign for Victoria’s Secret in New York. The short dress and high boots combined together is very work appropriate. Professionalism at its finest.

Metallic-blend sheath dress, Forever 21, $28
Classic double breasted coat, Forever 21, $48
Morono thigh-high boots, Aldo, $130 Read more…

Lindsay Lohan was spotted looking healthy and (believe it or not) actually pretty gorgeous yesterday as she checked into her mandated alcohol counseling meeting.
Radar Online reports that Lohan is looking better than ever with glowing skin, shiny hair, and a full arsenal of brand new designer threads. It’s a good indicator that seems to show she’s coping and maybe even thriving now that she’s progressing willingly through rehab.
Lindsay also sported her new healthy-chic look over thanksgiving which she spent with her notoriously troublemaking father, Michael.
Looks like all those shopping field trips from rehab paid off! Hopefully this means she’ll finally be able to face her demons and make a full recovery. Go Lindsay!
Lindsay Lohan was spotted out on the town yet again this week – this time perusing Borders and catching a quick flick with some pals from the Betty Ford Center.
Radar Online reports that Lohan picked up a magazine at the bookstore before heading over to Century Theatres with a gaggle of fellow patients. It’s unknown what film they settled on seeing, but we can bet that it wasn’t Lohan’s latest bomb, Machete!
Lindsay was also spotted outside of rehab last Tuesday, when she hit up Forever 21 for some new duds. Hey, girl’s gotta look fresh, even in rehab!
We hope this means Lindsay’s feeling better but she’s got to stay for her full treatment or she’ll never get better! Don’t give up, loca!
