After eight long years, Sean Lennon is finally ready to release his second album.

Titled “Friendly Fire,” the sophomore effort from the son of musical icon John Lennon will be released September 24 on Capitol Records.

“There was a long period after the first album where I felt disillusioned with the machinery of the industry,” said Lennon in a press release. “It’s not that I stopped recording, playing and performing, I did all of those things, just more discreetly. ‘Friendly Fire’ is an experiment to see what it might be like to do music more publicly again.”

Musical guests on the self-produced record include Jon Brion, Cibo Matto’s Yuka Honda, Harper Simon and Bijou Phillips.

Lennon also teamed up with director Michele Civetta to produce a short film for each cut on the record. The mini-movies include appearances by Lennon, as well as more notable guests like feature appearances from Lennon and friends including Lindsay Lohan, Bijou Phillips, Asia Argento, Carrie Fisher, Devon Aoki, Jordana Brewster and others. That means the combined collection of films should be like “Mean Girls” meets “Star Wars” meets “Sin City.” But probably not.
