Actress Scarlet Johanasson is disputing rumours that her high demands cost her the lead in the Andrew Lloyd Webber revival of “The Sound of Music.”

The Associated Press reports that Johanasson is dismissing claims that she demanded a high salary and had other “diva-like” demands. Webber is claiming the opposite.

“Her people were not ‘pro’ the idea. It became clear that it wasn’t going to work because the demands were so ridiculous. (Her representatives) couldn’t understand why she would want to appear in the West End for $18,500 a week when she could be earning $10 million for a movie,” the producer was quoted as saying in a London newspaper.

Her representatives are claiming that it was Johanasson’s schedule, not her pay demands that prevented her from starring in Webber’s stage revival of the Rogers and Hammerstein musical set to open in London in November.
