Admittedly, I didn’t join the Channing Tatum bandwagon until I saw 21 Jump Street, which is the funniest film I’ve seen since Bridesmaids and Horrible Bosses. Finally we get the trailer for Magic Mike, which you’ll probably put on a loop over and over so you can see Tatum strip off a police uniform.
Tatum’s a pro at peeling of his threads too because — wait for it — he used to work as a stripper so he can conveniently draw from major life experiences.
In the movie, Tatum plays a high rolling male stripper named Mike, who aspires to be an entrepreneur. The film, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh, has drawn comparisons to Saturday Night Fever, though it doesn’t go into the darker themes during this trailer.
Of course, there’s a love story packed in there too and it seems to have this coming of age feel. Will these two find love in a hopeless place? You’ll have to wait until June 29 to find out.
