Sara Evans Engaged

After very public problems with her first husband, marital problems that were so deep they caused country singer Sara Evans to drop out of Dancing with the Stars a couple of years ago, the singer is now engaged.

Evans and boyfriend Jay Barker, a former football player with the University of Arkansas, plan to wed – though a date was not immediately known, people.com reports.

“The couple are enjoying their engagement and look forward to their upcoming nuptials,” Lori Genes, Evans’ publicist, said.

Evans and her first husband, Craig Schelske, officially divorced last September. The two had three children together. Barker has four children from a previous marriage. The couple apparently began dating in November of last year.

Sara Evans and Craig Schelske Agree On Something

The extremely odd divorce proceedings of country singer Sara Evans and Craig Schelske seems to have finally been dealt a slice of common sense.

Evans has been accusing Schelske of posting online ads for sex as well as photos of him having sex with other women. Schelske then turned around and said Evans cheated on him.

Thank goodness Chancery Court Judge R.E. Lee Davies stepped in and told them both what’s what.

As part of Davies’ orders, the couple has to split $274,000 Schelske moved out of a joint account after Evans filed for divorce. Schelske also has to look for a separate residence and try to work out a schedule for him to visit with their three children.

“I think $137,000 ought to address any immediate concerns,” Davies said according to Yahoo! News. “Down the road we can make adjustments.”

Evans’ attorney didn’t object but did say that Schelske “ought to get a job.”

Sara Evans Comments on Leaving Dancing with the Stars

Sara Evans says that it was her experience being an entertainer that got her through her final performance on “Dancing With the Stars.”

Evans quit the show last week after filing for divorce from her husband, saying that she needed to spend the time with her two children and that required her to drop out of the competition.

Evans says she learned about the allegations that her husband had cheated on her moments before the Oct. 11 results.

“The good thing is that I’m so used to performing, as you know, that as an entertainer, we just have the ability to just try to flip the switch, turn it on, do the dance and make it through the day,” she said in an interview on last night’s episode.

Her husband says he plans to fight the allegations made against him.

“I cannot explain why Sara is waging a false media campaign, but I intend to defend myself in court and protect my children as best I can,” he said in a statement released yesterday.
