Sandra Bullock To Star In Sports Dramedy

Sandra Bullock has signed to star in “Blindside,” a sports dramedy that will tell the true story of football player Michael Oher.

Oher, projected to be one of the first players selected in this year’s NFL draft, was the subject of a 2006 bestselling novel by Michael Lewis, “The Blind Side: Evolution of the Game,” on which the movie will be based.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story will focus on Oher’s beginnings as a homeless black teen who is taken in by an affluent white family and must then overcome new obstacles.

Bullock, 44, will play Leigh Anne Touhy, the matriarch of the conservative suburban household that Oher joins.

John Lee Hancock (”The Rookie”) wrote the adaptation and will direct.

Bullock will next appear in the romantic comedies “The Proposal,” co-starring Ryan Reynolds, and “All About Steve.”

Sandra Bullock And Husband Hit In Car Crash

While many celebs are dealing with pending DUI convictions, Sandra Bullock and her motorcycle maven husband Jesse James were caught on the other side of a drunk-driving induced collision Friday.

The couple was hit by a 64-year-old drunk driver in Gloucester, Massachusetts where Bullock is currently filming a movie. Lucille Gatchell struck the couple’s SUV (the stars were not driving) at around 9:50 p.m.

“Sandra Bullock and Jesse James were in a car accident last night,” the actress’ rep, Cheryl Maisel, told E! News, E! Online reports. “They are fine.”

Bullock, James and Gatchell may not have been injured in the collision but the 2008 Chevy SUV the couple was riding in maintained substantial damage in the head-on smash.
Gloucester police arrived on the scene to find Bullock and James visibly shaken by the incident.

“They were sort of hugging each other on the sidewalk,” Officer Kevin Mackey reportedly said. “Ms. Bullock was consoling him.”

Mackey also said the Miss Congeniality star seemed genuinely concerned and repeatedly asked officers if the other driver had been injured.

The couple left the scene with Bullock’s security about 20 minutes after the incident.

As for Gatchell, whose blood-alcohol turned out to be more than two and a half times the legal limit, police say she showed little remorse and at first, didn’t know who was involved in the accident.

“After I arrested her I had her in the cruiser,” Mackey told the Boston Herald newspaper. “I said, ‘Do you realize who you hit?’ She asked, ‘Who?’ I said, ‘Sandra Bullock.”

“She was almost giggling and laughing. She said, ‘My first drunk driving and I hit Sandra Bullock.’”

Bullock Requests Restraining Order Against Fan

SANDRA BULLOCK has filed a request for a restraining order against the fan who tried to kill her husband last month.

Marcia Valentine attempted to run over TV mechanic Jesse James five times after driving her Mercedes onto the couple’s Orange County, California estate.

In filing her request, Bullock reveals the incident is just the latest involving Valentine, explaining the fan has trespassed on her property “on several occasions” and has thrown objects over the gate.

As well as asking for personal protection for herself and her husband, The Speed star has also included James’ three children in the restraining order request.

According to website TMZ.com, Valentine drove off before sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene on April 22. Police tracked her down the following day and took her into custody.

She was held on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and has since posted bail and is awaiting her next court date.
