Sacha Baron Cohen Returns With ‘The Dictator’

The incredibly funny and talented Sacha Baron Cohen has made two feature films based off of his characters on Da Ali G Show. Now, he’s back for a third film, only this time it’s an original character.

In “The Dictator”, Cohen plays General Aladeen, a leader of a made-up country of the middle east. He is sent to New York City to wreck a lot of havoc. This havoc includes forcing President Obama to demand his resignation, shooting others in the foot while running a race and paying to sleep with Megan Fox.

“A ruby? Is this some kind of a joke?” Megan asks. “What am I, a Kardashian?”

“No, you’re much less hairy!” Cohen’s character says.

The Dictator won’t make its way in to theatres until May 11 next year but you can watch the hilarious and ridiculous trailer right now.

Sacha Baron Cohen Sued by Gay Journalist over Bruno Incident

Sacha Baron Cohen is being sued yet again over one of his movies. This time it’s a gay journalist claiming he was roughed up by a camera crew shooting “Bruno.”

PopEater reports the incident took place in November 2008 during a pro-gay marriage rally in downtown Los Angeles.

Mike Skiff, a gay video journalist, recognized the “gay Austrian fashion journalist” Bruno, and started to film him. The lawsuit claims Cohen’s crew didn’t like this, and begain threatening Skiff and pushing him.

Skiff is suing for $25,000 in damages for alleged physical and emotional pain and suffering. You can see the video below.

A man labelled a terrorist in Sacha Baron Cohen’s new movie Bruno says he would like to take the star to court after he was tricked into appearing in the movie, reports Perez Hilton. Ayman Abu Aita said Baron Cohen told him he was being interviewed for a documentary on the struggles facing the Palestinian cause and was never told the film was a joke.

“He said he is a German actor making documentaries watched by young people,” said Aita. ”He wanted to make a story to mobilize the young people to help us. I didn’t have any impression he would use my interview in a bad way.”

Although Aita was once a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, he has since left his terrorist associations behind and now works as a board member of the Holy Land Trust.

The film also has audiences talking about a humorous stint featuring American Idol‘s Paula Abdul.

Bruno has earned $30.6 million at the box office since its July 10 opening and has a rating of 6.2 out of 10 on Rotten Tomatoes.

In case you missed the 2009 MTV movie awards, this is what went down (literally): Sacha Baron Cohen — as his fashionista character Brüno — dropped from the rafters of the Gibson Amphitheatre through the help of wires, landing butt-naked on Eminem’s face.

The rapper appeared to be furious and stormed out of the award ceremony with his posse. After a few days, Eminem finally broke the silence on Wednesday (June 3) to RapRadar.com.

“Sacha [Baron Cohen] called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards. I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag,” he told RapRadar.com. “I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it. It had so many people going ‘nuts,’ so to speak. Everyone was blowing me up about it.”

As for where he went after leaving the awards ceremony, Eminem explained, “After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about three hours. Especially after I saw it on-air”.

Sacha Baron Cohen, Will Ferrell To Star In Sherlock Holmes Comedy

Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell are joining forces again, this time for a comedic spin on a classic crime-fighting duo.

Variety reports that the pair, who played bickering racecar drivers in 2006′s “Talladega Nights,” will star in an as-yet-untitled Columbia Pictures comedy featuring super-sleuth Sherlock Holmes (to be played by Cohen) and his trusty sidekick Watson (Ferrell).

Etan Cohen, who co-wrote the upcoming “Tropic Thunder,” is penning the script, while Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller will produce. Apatow and Miller also produced “Talladega Nights.”

“Just the idea of Sacha and Will as Sherlock Holmes and Watson makes us laugh,” said Columbia co-president Matt Tolmach said in Variety Tuesday.

“Sacha and Will are two of the funniest and most talented guys on the planet, and having them take on these two iconic characters is frankly hilarious.”

Cohen and Ferrell’s Sherlock Holmes feature is one of two major studio projects in the works to be inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous literary character. Director Guy Ritchie and Warner Bros. are working on their own Holmes movie which focuses on the sleuth’s boxing and swordsmanship skills.

Sacha Baron Cohen Leaving Kazakhstan for Austria

Sacha Baron Cohen, the British comedian responsible for characters like Ali G and Borat, is set to bring another one of his many faces to the big screen.

The rights to “Bruno,” a film based on Cohen’s portrayal of a gay Austrian fashion reporter, have been snatched up by Universal Pictures for $42.5 million after a heated bidding war, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Cohen is currently making headlines with his character Borat, who’ll hit theatres Friday in “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.”

The fictional character, a politically incorrect news reporter from Kazakhstan, has sparked protests from Kazakh officials. In the movie, Cohen travels across the U.S., representing Borat’s home as a country that promotes of misogyny, racism, anti-Semitism and the comsumption of horse pee.
