Anne Hathaway still wants to be on Glee. She spoke about it to PopSugar.
“I’m planning on it,” Hathaway said about her guest role as Kurt’s aunt on ‘Glee.’ “I don’t know if they’re planning on it.”
Hathaway saw Ryan Murphy at the Golden Globes, where they had a small conversation about having her on the show.
“Ryan Murphy goes, ‘Anne Hathaway! Come on ‘Glee.’ And I said, ‘Yes!’ and he said ‘Fab, I’ll call you,’” Hathaway said.
After the Globes, Hathaway said Murphy was telling reporters it was a done deal.
“He went back to the press room and said, ‘Anne Hathaway is going to be on the show,’ and that became like a news event,” she said.
“She created her own character, and we ran into her, and I said ‘Really?’ and she said ‘Yes!’ so we’re going to do that,” Murphy told E! Online. “We love her.”
This happened in January. So what’s taking so long?
“And I never heard from him again [laughs]. Ryan Murphy, I’m calling you out: I want to be on ‘Glee.’ I’ve got my songs picked out,” Hathaway said.
Why do you think Ryan Murphy is stalling?
Glee has been a huge hit for FOX, so it’s rational that they would want to keep capitalizing on the show. However, how do you keep the characters relevant to the show after they are too old for highschool? You make a spinoff.
Show creator Ryan Murphy has expressed interest in following the characters after they graduate. Ryan had a concept which would involve Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith, but all the actors claim that they aren’t leaving the show after season three.
“In March, [executive producer] Brad Falchuk and I started talking to all three of those actors about it because you can’t make people do spinoffs,” Ryan explained. “At the time, all three of them expressed interest,” he told DeadlineHollywood.
Then on July 13 it was announced that the three cast members would be graduating. Ryan went on the defense.
“For any of those actors to say, ‘I found out that I was fired off the show from Twitter,’ is absolutely 100% not true,” Ryan told Deadline. “We were going to do a spin-off where the three of them were going to go on. They all knew what was happening, they all had approved it, they all said they wanted to do it.”
Right now the show spinoff is up in the air, but Ryan suggested the concept would follow these characters to New York City as they attend Julliard.
Do you think a spinoff would work? Or should we just let them graduate and forget about them?
Now you can see the cast of your favourite show live on the big screen…in 3D!
Following the footsteps of many before them, FOX has announced that the upcoming Glee Live! In Concert! tour will become a 3D concert movie called Glee Live! 3D! According to Perez Hilton, the movie will feature footage from the concert as well as behind-the-scenes clips.
The movie will be in theatres for two weeks beginning August 12, and will be directed by Fame’s Kevin Tancharoen.
So all you Gleeks who were heartbroken about not being able to get tickets to one of the stops on the tour, there’s no longer a need to fret because now you will able to catch all the excitement at a theatre near you!
The Glee tour, which will feature cast members Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Harry Shum Jr, Chord Overstreet, and Ashley Fink, kicks off on May 21 in Las Vegas and goes through until June 18 in Uniondale. And for all you Warblers fans who, like me, are planning on attending the concert mainly to see Darren Chriss live, FOX just announced on Tuesday that the members of the Dalton Academy Warblers will be joining the tour cast as well!
While all this honestly seems like an attempt by Ryan Murphy to make even more money off his loyal Gleeks, I have to admit that it’s extremely exciting news and I will be one of the first in line to see the movie!
Are you excited about the Glee 3D concert movie?
Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters has lashed out on Glee’s creator Ryan Murphy to The Hollywood Reporter this week.
Recent anti-Glee movements by artists Slash and the Kings of Leon have made news lately, both refusing Glee to use their songs in an episode. And now Grohl is defending these artists’ rights to say no.
“The Glee guy, what a f—ing jerk. Slash was the first one. He wanted to do Guns ‘n’ Roses and Slash is like, ‘I hate f—ing musicals. It’s worse than Grease.’ Then [Murphy's] like, ‘Well, of course he’d say that, he’s a washed up ol’ rock star, that’s what they f—ing do.’ And then Kings of Leon say, ‘No, we don’t want to be on your show.’ And then he’s like, ‘Snotty little assholes…’ And it’s just like, Dude, maybe not everyone loves Glee. Me included.”
“F— that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee,” said Grohl on Glee’s creator Murphy. “It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f—ing Glee.”
Grohl says he has watched the show, but believes his music and brand doesn’t fit the mould of what the show stands for. “I watched 10 minutes. It’s not my thing,” Grohl said.
Although his comment on Murphy is a little aggressive, I kind of have to agree with him. Ryan Murphy needs to realize that not every band is going to allow you to use their music, I mean, it’s their choice and their decision. And if you’re going to retaliate with rude comments about every artist who doesn’t let you use a song, that’s just unprofessional.
I personally think Glee has gone way downhill since the first season. As opposed to the original plot lines of the beginning episodes, now, Murphy is basically targeting any hit song and using it as a cash cow for his TV show. I can understand why artists such as Slash or Foo Fighters don’t want to sell out like that. I mean, if I hear the Glee version of “Don’t Stop Believin” one more time… I swear to god, I might release an aggressive comment to The Hollywood Reporter myself.
There’s been much buzz on the internet surrounding Glee’s biggest midseason spoiler – that one of the openly gay characters on the show may not be so gay after all.
Perez Hilton has revealed that the character of Blaine, an openly gay senior played by Darren Criss, is going to have “an encounter with a pivotal member of the opposite gender [in an upcoming episode] … afterwards, he’s forced to consider the possibility that he swings both ways,” according to numerous sources.
If this is true, the show’s decision is a highly contentious one. Darren Criss, who is straight in real life, has caught the attention of many female fans this season and is considered a heartthrob amongst the Glee fan community. Many are accusing Glee writers of making Blaine bi simply to cater to and profit off of Darren’s large female fanbase.
We for one see this as a huge cop-out and a MASSIVE money grab! Blaine is a very confident and self-assured gay boy and it’s been suggested that he has quite a bit of experience under his belt – it doesn’t seem in his character to make him fool around at this point. Though Glee is such a poorly written show in the first place and creator Ryan Murphy is such a massive douchenozzle that it really doesn’t surprise us.
This was the final straw for us. We’re thinking (read:hoping) that Glee’s episodes are numbered at this point.
On-screen siren Anne Hathaway is following in the footsteps of many musical stars before her – by appearing on hit show Glee!
Popeater is reporting that Glee creator Ryan Murphy confirmed Hathaway’s appearance just after the series took home the Golden Globe for best Comedy or Musical last night.
“She created her own character, and we ran into her, and I said ‘Really?’” Murphy said. “She said ‘Yes!’ so we’re going to do that. We love her.”
Murphy’s announcement was still fresh news to most of the cast, who heard about the appearance mere minutes before it was announced to the public. Amber Riley, who plays divalicious Mercedes on the show, only got 10 minutes notice.
But most excited of all about Hathaway’s appearance is Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel on the show.
“Can you imagine a family with myself, Mike O’Malley, Julie Andrews, and Anne Hathaway?” he gushed. “That’s one hell of a family!”
We hate to be a downer, but maybe Glee should stop putting so much money into getting guest stars and spend more time building an actual, sustainable plot that lasts more than one episode? We love Anne Hathaway but Glee is more like a revolving door of “substitute teachers” than an actual show!
We vote that Jane Lynch’s character sings “Viva La Vida.”
While when Glee first hit televisions across the continent in mid-2009 it was nothing more than an odd-ball Fox series trying to take flight, today it is one of the most popular shows on the tube.
Before the show reached its current level of popularity, creators contacted artists whose songs they thought would fit the show. Two such artists turned the offer down: Bryan Adams and Coldplay, MuchMusic.com reports.
“At the beginning a lot of people didn’t know what we were and asked to see pages [in advance], but I refused because I didn’t want to set precedent of them having any involvement,” said Glee creator Ryan Murphy. “My favourite rejection was Bryan Adams. Coldplay and Bryan Adams were really the only rejections. But Coldplay called a week ago and said, ‘We’re sorry, you can have our catalog.’”
A “The Scientist” duet between Rachel and Finn? Brilliant.
While not even done their first season, “Glee” has already been signed for a third season, reports E! Online.
“In just one year, Glee has transcended the television landscape and emerged as a global pop culture phenomenon,” said Fox Entertainment boss Peter Rice.
“We are incredibly proud to have talent like Ryan Murphy and the Glee cast in our Fox family, and we can’t wait to see where Ryan takes the show in seasons two and there.”
The question now remains, can the show keep this mojo going? For the first season the show was cool because it was so novel, but that eventually wears off. What do you think? Are the show creators, writers and actors that good to keep this show on top of the ratings?
Word recently got out that Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Barrie on Fox’s hit TV show Glee, is a crazy diva who terrorizes her cast mates, reports perezhilton.com.
But Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, begs to differ.
Murphy said:
“[The rumors are] not accurate and not true at all. Lea is the sweetest, most professional girl. She’s incredibly kind and she’s always on time and she’s always with her cast hanging out. They’re all close. I told Lea this would happen to her in July of last year. Just wait, people will start to write untruths. I told her, ‘Keep your chin up and it just happens. It’s happened to me and it’s happened to everyone. So don’t pay any attention to it.’ But it’s definitely not true. Lea is great.”
In other news, a new episode of Glee hits television sets tonight (Tuesday, May 18). It should be a good one, with a much-anticipated rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” as well as guest star Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother).
Glee creator Ryan Murphy says Kurt, played by Chris Colfer, will be getting a boyfriend in the show’s second season, reports Perez Hilton. They are reportedly looking for a male version of Amber Riley’s Mercedes character to pair up with Kurt.
Joseph Fiennes’ dabble into television is over before it began.
Fiennes was the lead in “Nip/Tuck” creator Ryan Murphy’s new show, “Pretty/Handsome.” He played a family man who decided to get a sex change.
Though the show also co-starred Blythe Danner and was being co-produced by Brad Pitt, the pilot, which was developed for FX, failed to impress, says the Hollywood Reporter. FX passed on it in March, and though it was shopped around to other outlets, it was unsuccessful.
Another co-star of the show, Christopher Egan, has already been cast in a new NBC show, “Kings.”
