It may sound like an odd combination, but it works unbelievably well!
The pop princess joined the infamous rock band on stage during a recent performance in Las Vegas and she held her own! With all the wigs and over the top outfits, it’s easy to forget that Katy is a truly amazing vocalist, and her contribution to “Beast of Burden” made a great song even better. After watching this video, I know one thing for sure: you should never underestimate the girl with the whipped cream bra.
I bet she woke up happy in Vegas this time around!

In celebration of having done 100 digital shorts, Saturday Night Live pulled out the big guns and called on Justin Bieber. Well not only Justin Bieber. The short also featured Justin Timberlake, Michael Bolton, Usher, Jon Hamm, Will Ferrell and Natalie Portman. Yea, just a few big names. Character cameos included Shy Ronnie, Jack Sparrow and Sergio the Sax Man.
The video starts with Bieber playing the part of Lonely Islander Akiva Schaffer, with Jorma Taccone and Andy Samberg. After a whole lot of shenanigans, that include Natalie Portman rapping obscenities and Timberlake presenting his goods in a box, we learn Bieber was tricked into the whole thing. ”I was tricked into doing this. I don’t endorse this song. No, no, no, no,” he says as Hamm air humps him.
Saturday’s episode was hosted by Will Ferrell with Usher as the musical guest. Next week’s finale will be hosted by Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger.

Overlooking the Toronto skyline from backstage at the Molson Amphitheater, Manchester Orchestra’s rhythm-guitarist and singer-songerwriter Andy Hull took in a drag and the scene.
“It’s pretty awesome to wake up in the city that you grew up in,” confessed Hull, moments before opening for My Chemical Romance and Blink-182 as part of the 2011 Honda Civic Tour. It would almost seem that, other than sharing a stage, lyrical honesty and vulnerability is about all that these three bands have in common.
“It’s fun man, they’re all really kind people,” says Hull about being on the road with MCR and Blink. It’s been a sleepless summer for Hull and company, leaping between a plethora of festivals from Montreal’s Osheaga to Chicago’s Lollapalooza. “It’s been quite an experience to play these venues. It’s definitely this casting vision tour to really see how big a band can get. It’s kind of crazy. And [Blink-182] is definitely a band that represented a huge part of our childhood.”
Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger has formed a new supergroup, reports The NY Post. Members of the group include Eurythmics star Dave Stewart, Damian Marley, Joss Stone and Indian musician and producer A.R. Rahman.
Jagger has been secretly recording with Stewart, Bob Marley’s youngest son Marley, jazz-influenced Stone and Rahman, who won two Oscars for ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’
A source said, “They just finished a record and their first video and are talking to major labels about a deal. The name for the band at the moment is Super Heavy.” Another source said, “Each member has a very distinct and different style, but it works. Mick has been recording with Dave for a while, and both worked with Joss in the past.”
But a rep for Jagger said, “They all thought it would be interesting and great fun to go into the studio and play some music. No video has been shot, no label in place. All a bit premature.”
Jagger’s first effort sans the Stones, 1985′s “She’s the Boss,” was less than a hit. Former Stones member Keith Richards wrote in his memoir, “I’ve never listened to [it] the whole way through. Who has? It’s like ‘Mein Kampf.’ Everybody had a copy, but nobody listened to it.”
Sounds like quite the mix of artists – it could be an interesting record. Stone and Jagger are definitely a great mix, they both have that bluesy tone to their voice, so I can’t wait to hear what they come up with.

Rock band U2 were the decade’s second most successful touring act, grossing $844,157,925 U.S. (about $904 million Canadian), after playing 288 shows (all of which sold out) to 9,869,953 people. Bravado International Group is suing Dollar Days International, Alan Shrem and Kennedy-Shrem International for millions, claiming they are illegally using the names of Michael Jackson, the Rolling Stones, the Doors, Guns N’ Roses, Led Zeppelin and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, reports TMZ.
Bravado says they have the exclusive right to merchandise related to these artists, and the other companies have violated this right by selling shirts, watches, posters and other items. They are seeking $2 million per violation.
KEITH RICHARDS’ ashes-snorting confession has won the wrinkly rocker the chance to compete with the reunions of THE POLICE and GENESIS as the Event Of The Year at the upcoming Classic Rock Awards in London.
The Rolling Stones star revealed he once snorted his father’s ashes in an interview at the beginning of the year (07) only to dispute the comment after it appeared. He recently admitted the story was true.
And that has earned Richards an odd nomination at the 5 November (07) wards ceremony, where former Led Zeppelin star Jimmy Page will be honoured as this year’s Living Legend.
The awards show’s most contested category will be Band Of The Year, which Muse, Velvet Revolver, Aerosmith, Rush and Black Sabbath offshoot Heaven & Hell will compete for.
Velvet Revolver have also been nominated for Album Of The Year – their Libertad release will compete with albums by Ian Hunter, Porcupine Tree, Rush and The Who. (KL/WN/GES)

British rock legend KEITH RICHARDS has dismissed reports his band THE ROLLING STONES are near retirement, insisting they will continue rocking the stage for many more years to come.
Richards will today headline the Isle of Wight Festival in England with the legendary band, and is adamant the Brown Sugar stars – who are all in their 60s – will keep playing live shows for at least the next 12 months.
The 63-year-old says, “We’re digging what we’re doing. After 40 years, there are absolutely no murmurings of mutiny and I think we will continue next year as well.
“People have been saying we’re going to retire for 30 years now. But we’re simply having a hell of a lot of fun up on stage!”

ROLLING STONES rocker SIR MICK JAGGER shocked drinkers at a London pub by joining his less-famous brother Chris’ band onstage for a cameo appearance.
The 63-year-old joined the audience at an Atcha! gig in the Bull’s Head in Barnes last month after visiting his ex-wife Jerry Hall at the home they shared nearby – and stunned everyone present when he slipped onstage.
The Jagger brothers performed a cover of Rolling Stones hit Dead Flowers, from the band’s Sticky Fingers album, to rapturous applause.
A drinker in the pub says, “The reaction from the assembled audience was absolutely ecstatic. Mick and Chris’ camaraderie was only too apparent.”

ROLLING STONE CHARLIE WATTS thought he had three months to live when he first discovered he was suffering from throat cancer.
The 66-year-old drummer was diagnosed with the disease in June 2004, and has since made a full recovery.
He says, “When I first found out about the cancer, I literally went to bed and cried.
“I thought that was it, that I’d only have another three months.
“You go in there and you’re terrified. All the machines, it’s like space age stuff. The surgeons and nurses literally have your life in their hands.”

As long as Mick Jagger’s hips don’t give out anytime soon, the Rolling Stones will likely keep raking in the big bucks.
The Stones have reclaimed the title of having the top-grossing tour of all time, after briefly conceding the bragging rights to U2 earlier this year. U2′s Vertigo tour grossed more than $333 million after its year-long run from March 28, 2005 to March 2, 2006. This bested the Stones’ 1994-1995 Voodoo Lounge tour, which made $320 million.
But now, the Stones’ A Bigger Bang tour is expected to gross far beyond that number. The band has been on the road since the fall of 2005 and in 110 shows, they’ve made $437 million. And that number is likely to climb up even higher – rumour has it that the tour will be extended into 2007.
The Rolling Stones have cancelled their second concert in four days after front-man Mick Jagger was advised by his doctor to give his ailing throat more rest.
Though the band played Sunday night as part of a birthday bash for former President Bill Clinton at NYC’s Beacon Theater, a show set for Tuesday at the club has been pushed back, reports Reuters.
An arena show that had been scheduled for Friday in New Jersey was also called off mere hours before the band was set to take the stage.
That show will be made up on November 17, though the rescheduling creates an uncertain future for their planned November 18 concert at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium; the band hasn’t played on back-to-back nights for a number of years.
A spokesman for the band said that more announcements would be made about the tour itinerary soon.

The Stones’ spokeswoman announced on Thursday that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, and Charlie Watts will play at the 2,900-capacity club on Oct. 29 and 31. Public on-sale information is to come shortly.
Rumour has it that the first of the two shows will be part of former President Bill Clinton’s three-day 60th birthday bash in NYC.
The Rolling Stones are currently on a North American stadium tour. The last time the band has played a club was in 2002 at New York’s Roseland Ballroom.
The Rolling Stones have restarted their latest tour, again.
The Stones’ current tour was originally delayed when Keith Richards had to have emergency surgery. The Stones recently had to cancel dates in Spain after Mick Jagger came down with a case of laryngitis.
According to theage.com, the Stones performed their scheduled performance at the Wickenham stadium in London today. The site said the singer showed “no obvious signs of the laryngitis that forced the band to cancel two gigs last week.”
The Stones will play another show at the stadium before the tour moves on to Scotland.
It seems the Rolling Stones are not having the best luck when it comes to their current tour.
At the beginning of the tour, dates had to be rescheduled due to an injury that happened to Keith Richards, and now a concert in Spain has been rescheduled because of Mick Jagger.
The Associated Press reports that the Stones had to cancel their date in Valladoild Monday night because Jagger had come down with a case of laryngitis.
A spokesperson for the band said the date would most likely not be rescheduled. Over 30,000 tickets were estimated to be sold for the show.
“I’m sorry to cancel this show. I’ve always loved to play in Spain, but unfortunately I have no choice and I apologize to the people that have bought tickets for tonight’s show,” Jagger said in a statement about the cancellation.
The statement also said that Jagger was just following doctor’s orders not to sing after he was hit with laryngitis over the weekend.
Earlier this month, a rumour that the Rolling Stones would play Halifax, NS emerged. And now, as hotel rooms fill up fast for the possible show date, East Coast rock fans are anxiously awaiting confirmation.
The Chronicle-Herald reports that Halifax mayor Peter Kelly said an official announcement might be made as early as Tuesday.
Most reports and online chatter has indicated the show will take place at the Commons, a large outdoor park, on September 23.
Many area hotels are already close to being fully booked for the date, as fans snatch up accomodations in anticipation of the possible appearance by Mick Jagger and Co.
Fans have also been speculating about opening acts for the show on Internet message boards. Names that have come up include The Who, Nickelback, and East Coast natives Great Big Sea and Sloan.
The Rolling Stones are set to resume touring now that guitarist Keith Richards is fully recovered following brain surgery. The European leg of their “A Bigger Bang” tour had to be pushed back to give Richards adequate recovery time.
The rescheduling means that most dates will go ahead in the summer, while nine shows have been delayed until fall and two have been completely cancelled, reports AFP.
The rescheduled tour, according to the band’s website, kicks off in Milan on July 11 and lasts until September.
Shows in Barcelona, Brussels, Gothenburg, St Petersburg, Brno, Warsaw, Athens, Zagreb and Frankfurt have yet to be rescheduled. Dates in Nuremburg and Leipzig have been cancelled.
Despite Keith Richards’ recovery apparently going well, the Rolling Stones have decided to postpone the first 15 dates on their scheduled European tour, E! Online reports.
The tour was expected to kick off on Saturday in Spain, but after Richards’ injury, the group that June seemed like it would be a more plausible time. The group now thinks it won’t be able to start the tour until July.
Shows in Madrid; Brussels; Paris; Bergen, Norway; Horsens, Denmark; Gothenburg, Sweden; St. Petersburg, Russia; Brno, Czech Republic; Warsaw, Poland; Vienna; Milan; Athens; and Zagreb, Croatia are all affected and will be rescheduled at a later date.
Richards was injured while vacationing in Fiji, it is unclear how he hurt himself but it was confirmed he hit his head and needed surgery to relieve the swelling in his brain.
