Fashion Minute: Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress Heads To Rock Hall Of Fame

Posted by Christian Allaire on June 15th, 2011

We all know Lady Gaga’s infamous meat dress she wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, and now the dress is heading to the Rock Hall Of Fame, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The dress, which raised a few eyebrows, was designed by Franc Fernandez and Nicola Formichetti, Gaga’s personal stylist and creative director of Thierry Mugler.

It also infuriated many animal activists, including Peta, who said of the dress: ”Meat is the decomposing flesh of a tormented animal who didn’t want to die, and after a few hours under the TV lights, it would smell like the rotting flesh it is and likely be crawling in maggots — not too attractive, really.”

Although the dress didn’t receive much praise from the fashion industry, it will be showcased at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland on Thursday as part of its current ‘Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power’ exhibit.

The museum says the exhibit “highlights the flashpoints, the firsts, the best, the celebrated — and sometimes lesser known women — who moved rock and roll music and American culture forward.”

My question is how are they preserving the dress? Did they freeze the meat? The exhibition is only one day long, so will they just toss it when it’s done? I think it should be auctioned for charity, and then someone can do whatever they want with it. Eat it, wear it, preserve it.

Justin, Madonna Cause Controversy at Hall of Fame Induction

Posted by andPOP Staff on March 11th, 2008

While inducting Madonna to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York on Monday, Justin Timberlake made jokes about ex-fiancé, Britney Spears.

“The world has always been full of Madonna wannabes and I might have even dated a couple,” he said, taking a stab at Spears.

Spears is currently receiving help for mental health issues, with decisions being made by her father, Jamie.

Timberlake also made a thinly-veiled joke about Madonna’s famous lip-lock with Spears. “She has still found time to kiss someone I may or may not have publicly kissed myself while I was in the audience. Of course you know I was talking about Sean Penn.”

Of course, Madonna was not to be outdone. She stirred up her own controversy while accepting the honour. Her speech included calling the audience “motherf—-ers,” a story about sharing ecstasy with the executive she gave her first demo to, and imitating Michael Jackson in a squeaky voice and admitting she purposely stole Jackson’s manager.

Timberlake recently collaborated with Madonna on her new album.
