Posted on andPOP:

Sony Canada Ltd. is introducing its new personal entertainment player, the Rolly. The Rolly is a palm-sized, egg-shaped device that moves and spins to the beat of the music its playing.

“Rolly has the ability to attract your attention as soon as you turn it on,” said Junior Ali, Senior Director of Marketing at Sony Canada in a press release from the company. “It’s a tremendous example of what can happen when entertainment and technology merge.”

Despite its small size, the Rolly is designed for excellent sound quality, through features such as digital amps and speakers with neodymium magnets. The robotic technologies of the Rolly allow the machine’s small arms, shoulders and wheels to move in time to the music coming out of its speakers. There are also two lights on the Rolly that change colour with the music. The Rolly already comes programmed with dance moves for a few songs, such as Avril Lavigne’s ‘Girlfriend and Earth, Wind and Fire’s ‘Boogie Wonderland’.

The Rolly also comes with Rolly Choreographer software, where a user can create and program the device to perform a custom song and dance number. The Rolly comes with a 2GB flash memory, and can store up to 520 songs. The Rolly is selling for around $400, and is available online at sonystyle.ca or at Sony retail stores.

To see the little guy dance, go here: http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/servlet/ProductDetailDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=1005239. It’s pretty fantastic.
