According to a survey by IMVU, an online social entertainment destination, Lady Gaga is the top artist people desire to see in concert.
With more than 27,500 people responding to the survey, Lady Gaga was selected as the top artist to see in concert this summer with 31 per cent, followed closely by Rhianna with 27 per cent and Beyonce with 24 per cent.
Britney Spears came in last with 8 per cent of the vote. Personally, Britney is at the top of my list – but hey, we all have our different tastes.
In movie news, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ was selected as the top movie of the summer. With a huge box office opening, that is no surprise. Fashionwise, 52 per cent of those surveyed said they buy a new wardrobe every summer. Can’t complain about that either, we all love a good swimsuit.
Britney Spears made her return to the stage last night at the ‘Billboard Awards’ in Las Vegas.
First, Spears made an appearance in Rihanna’s ‘S&M’ performance, then making a second cameo with Nicki Minaj for ‘Till The World Ends (Femme Fatale Remix.)
As much as I love her, the cameos were a little bit sad. She lip-synched, which is acceptable for her, but she didn’t even dance or make up for it with energy.
I think the ‘S&M’ performance was miles better than the ‘Till The World Ends’ performance, that’s for sure. Spears seemed a little more vibrant with Rihanna, but I was left wanting more.
A lot of people were saying “She’s back! She looks amazing!” which, yes, I agree, but she definitely isn’t back. Watch her past billboard performances and tell me she’s back (she’s kind of lost her spark.)
In her defence, though, she did look amazing and seemed genuinely happy to be there. I’ll give her that. Check out the performances below and tell us what you think!
The queen of pop is reportedly back at it.
Sources informed Us Weekly that Britney Spears herself is headed to Las Vegas to perform live at Sunday night’s 2011 Billboard Music Award.
It’s rumoured that the mother of two will be performing twice, with one of those performances a duo with 23-year-old Barbadian Rihanna, to the tune of her radio hit, ‘S&M.’
Even more exciting than the 29-year-old’s performance with Rihanna, Spears will also reportedly be performing with tour mate Nicki Minaj for the first time ever. Spears and the 26-year-old hip-hop artist will partner to perform the remix version of Spears’ hit ‘Till The World Ends.’
Last I remember Kesha was also on that track, any chance she’ll be performing as well?
Minaj first met Spears in April, when rumours of a joint tour spread across the internet like wildfire. Just a short while later and Spears confirmed on her official website that Minaj would, in fact, be joining her Femme Fatale tour this coming summer.
Of the tour, Minaj said “I’m obviously honoured to be out with Britney. She’s freakin’ paved the way for so many things right now in pop culture. I’m excited to be on with her.”
Though some of Spear’s award show performances have been buzzed about for all the wrong reasons (2007 MTV Video Music Awards anyone?) sources are saying this performance will definitely resonate in a positive way.
“It’s gonna be big,” says Us Weekly’s source. “People will definitely be talking about it the next day.”
Tune in tonight at 8:00 p.m. to witness the musical styling’s of Ms. Spears.
Chris Brown is the top contender at the BET awards this year with six nominations, reports Billboard.
Brown is up for best male R&B artist, viewer’s choice and video of the year for ‘Look at Me Now.’ He’s also nominated twice in the best collaboration category for his No. 1 hits ‘Deuces,’ featuring Tyga and Kevin McCall, and ‘Look at Me Now,’ with Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne.
Brown is also getting recognition for his acting, as he is nominated for best actor for his role in the heist thriller ‘Takers.’
Lil Wayne is nominated five times, three of them coming from his guest appearance on Brown’s ‘Look at Me Now.’
Kanye West, Drake and Rihanna are up for four awards each as well. Alicia Keys will perform and comedian Kevin Hart will host the award show. It airs live on June 26 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Wow, can we call this a Chris Brown comeback? I personally still think he’s a douchebag, but Rihanna-related-events aside, I guess his music is pretty good. We’ll have to tune in to see how many awards he actually wins. I know he deserves to deal with the consequences of his actions, but its good to see him on some sort of path to recovery, both career-wise and personal-wise.
Yet another miracle provided to you by Twitter. Guess what, Chris Brown is now following Rihanna on Twitter. And that’s not it. She is now following him back!
Understandably, everyone is quite surprised by this development. A Rihanna fan even Tweeted at her, asking if Chris and her are back together. Rihanna responded back, “its fu**in twitter, not the alter! calm down.”
TMZ points out that the Judge has lifted the restraining order, so they are free to have regular contact.
Music icons Madonna and Rihanna are the latest pop singers to team up for a new project… to sell coconut water.
According to Billboard, Madonna is an investor for The Vita Coco brand of coconut water, which will feature Rihanna in its national advertising campaign launching this summer.
“Rihanna is a natural fit for the Vita Coco brand and I’m so happy to have her on the team,” says Madonna in a statement.
Rihanna adds, “I love Vita Coco! It’s real coconut water from hand-picked coconuts. It’s delicious and so good for you!”
This seems like a random collaboration, but whatever works for them. I was sort of hoping for a music collaboration or something, but, I guess I’ll take this.

The great thing about today’s technology is that it can be combined with charity efforts on a global scale. I think this is a great cause and great concept – iTunes is one of the hottest markets right now, so why not use it for good? I know many young people who don’t exactly have the money to donate, but I’m pretty sure we all have money on our iTunes account, so this little bit can help in a major way.
Despite all his …cough…display of anger…backstage and Good Morning America a couple days ago, Chris Brown’s new album, F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies) is doing really well! This just goes to show that good music will always be good music, no matter what.
Regardless of his GMA outburst, which ended in broken windows and Brown storming out shirtless after being questioned by Robin Roberts on ex-girlfriend Rihanna, ABC still wants the star to perform next Tuesday on Dancing with the Stars, reports Perez Hilton.
According to Perez, Roberts commented on Brown’s behaviour, saying:
“I wish him the absolute best. We extended the invitation to him [to come back], and sure hope he takes us up on it because I’d sure love to have another chat with him…Any time we have a guest, we let them know ahead of time the subject matter and the topics. And even right before the interview I let him know. I was shocked like everyone else, because we’ve had a wonderful relationship. I’ve been to his home, he’s very gracious, and we’ve had easy conversation…We’ve extended an invitation. We’d love to have him back. He’s seriously considering that.” Pretty reasonably handled on Robert’s part, in my opinion! We hope Chris “forgives all his enemies” and accepts, because that would be one interesting interview.
And now, Brown’s album (s released March 22) is already in the 250-275k range in terms of sales, falling just behind Adele’s 21 which sold 351k copies, according to Perez. Impressive! His album currently holds the #1 spot on iTunes’ Top Albums, along with ten out of the 17 singles of the deluxe album holding spots in the top 100 songs, the single Next 2 You featuring Justin Bieber leading the way at number four.
Not too shabby for someone who’s had some pretty bad press lately. Can’t wait to see what good fortune will follow Brown next!
That Justin Bieber kid, that you may have heard of, has beat out the late King of Pop at the box-office.
Less than a year after Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ became the most successful concert-film in U.S. history, Justin Bieber’s ‘Never Say Never’ concert fan-tastic film has snatched the title.
On Monday, the Hollwood Reporter published figures that show ‘Never Say Never’ has raked in $72.2 million (U.S. dollar) at the box office since its January release, where as Jackson’s 2009 concert film ‘This Is It’ has $72.1 million. Although Bieber has taken in those impressive numbers, he has to work some magic before he tops the MJ global intake.
With a global total of $261.2 million, ‘This Is It’ has crippled Bieber’s doc that has a modest $83 million globally so far. However, Paramount executives predict the film cashing in at least $10 million more internationally.
The U.S. numbers for Bieber were clearly impacted by the film’s re-release with an additional 40 minutes of bonus footage from director Jon M. Chu.
Bieber will likely continue to duel Jackson’s milestones throughout the next few years, in fact he checked another off a few weeks ago when he posed with his new wax figure at London’s Madame Tussauds. He is also among the artists to be featured on a Universal Music digital-only album to raise funds for Japan’s earthquake and tsunami victims. Funding will go toward the Japanese Red Cross. Alongside Bieber for the project are U2, Rihanna, Bon Jovi and Nicki Minaj. What an eclectic group.
So apparently Chris Brown is screaming, “Yeah,” three times, because he thinks that the world has forgiven him for the “Rihanna mishap.” Seriously, as long as you keep calling it a mishap, Chris, I can never forgive you.
Chris Brown, who was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service after beating up ex-girlfriend Rihanna, seems to be under the impression that all is forgiven for his actions.
According to Perez Hilton, Brown said, “They wanna get on the record. They wanna let me back in the door. The last two years, everybody dissed me, but my fans were so dedicated.” What fans are you thinking of exactly, Chris, because I can’t seem to recall any…
According to Brown, there were “a handful of people” who stuck by him. “When [most] people see certain things happen to somebody,” said Brown, “they usually turn away. They don’t want to get involved with it because they don’t want their name attached to anything negative.” Good, so you understand how society works! Now with that in mind, what makes you think that people will want anything to do with you when it will do just that – attach them to something completely negative?!
But nothing will get him down – Brown went on to say, “The way I look at it is, you can’t walk around mad, because then you just prove everybody right that you’re an angry person.” But see now, you didn’t have to do that to prove you’re an angry person – you already did that when you beat up RiRi!
“People are always gonna talk. But I’m in a positive place. I consider myself a grown-ass man,” Brown told Page Six Magazine in a recent interview. “At the end of the day, if I walk around apologizing to everybody, I’m gonna look like a damn fool.” Again – apologizing won’t do that, beating up your girlfriend already has! And saying all this is making it even worse. Do you really still not get it, Chris?!
However, Brown apparently doesn’t need anyone else’s forgiveness in order to do some forgiving of his own – his new album, which will be titled F.A.M.E., stands for “Forgiving All My Enemies.” Oooookay, Chris. Good to know.
Lady GaGa stopped by The Gayle King Show and announced that she will be releasing not one, but two music videos for her new single ‘Born This Way’.
The first video will be out on Monday, February 28, and the second will be released later as a more stripped-down performance of the single. She will sell the video on iTunes and gear the profits towards an anti-bullying charity, which is fitting since the song is about accepting who you are and living without prejudice.
GaGa has given no hints about what the video will look like or include, but one can only imagine after her egg spectacle at the Grammys. The video is directed by Nick Knight, a British fashion photographer, who coincidentally shot GaGa for her Vanity Fair cover in September.
I’m excited for this video premiere. I can always count on GaGa to deliver something creative and exciting, a great change from predictable artists dominating the charts. Even if I hate it or don’t understand it, at least this video will leave me with some sort of emotion or opinion. As long as she’s got me talking, I’m happy.
I think that’s what a lot of pop stars today lack: creativity. When we watch a Britney Spears video or listen to a Rihanna song, do we really find ourselves that amazed or induced in thought? Of course not. It’s just another young, hot thing dancing around in her underwear. Which, at times is nice, but for the most part, not very stimulating. GaGa, on the other hand, has meaning behind her songs. She has depth, she has a voice. Whether people like her or hate her, at least she has a stance on something. And now, with two videos on the way, we’re promised double the freaky-deaky and double the opinion. Bring it.
The video is sure to be a success, though. The song went straight to #1 literally everywhere, and sold 1,000,000 copies in one week – the fastest song to do that, ever. I don’t know what it is about GaGa, but people love to scrutinize her, love to discuss her, and love to watch her. To me, that’s a modern pop star done right. Take notes, Britney.
Kanye West’s new music video for “All of The Lights” has received an Epilepsy warning from a British organization called Epilepsy Action, according to MTV News.
The charity group provides support for people with epilepsy, and says that the video “should not be broadcast on U.K. television.”
“However, the Kanye West video is still available online, most notably on YouTube where it has had several million hits, and no such regulations exist for online broadcasting,” said the organization in a statement.
As a result of this outburst, the video, which features a barely-dressed Rihanna, has been pulled from many stations including MuchMusic. “We are pleased to see that YouTube and Kanye West’s representatives have listened to our concerns and are warning people that the video is a risk to some people,” Epilepsy Action campaigns manager Aimee Gee said to MTV.
It’s true that the online world of broadcasting has drastically different rules than the television world – meaning there really are no rules for online broadcasting. It’ll be much harder for the music video to be pulled from YouTube than it was to get pulled from television, simply due to the fact that the online world is a free, post-whatever-you-want world. Warning ads have been placed before the video, though.
Now, I don’t know if I just feel bad for Kanye, but the dude just can’t catch a break. Ever since the Taylor Swift fiasco at the Grammys, his career has never been able to fully recover. Although the song is currently at number 14 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart, his video now risks the chance of getting pulled from all media outlets. Poor guy!
I don’t know if pulling the video from everywhere is the solution, though. The obvious answer to this problem seem simple to me; if you have epilepsy, don’t watch a music video called “All of The Lights“. I mean, lights is your first clue that you probably won’t enjoy it. Secondly, I realize that maybe someone could stumble upon the video and have an epileptic seisure, but how about changing the channel if you see bright lights? How are these flashing lights different from Ke$ha or Britney Spears’ videos?
I’ve personally seen the video and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was different, unique, and a fresh change from the usual videos played today. It seems like all the good videos are getting censored nowadays. Just a couple weeks ago, Rihanna’s “S&M” video got pulled in some countries as it was too ‘risky’. I mean, we live in a modern century, a little risky or bright lights won’t hurt anyone. Well, maybe, but you know what I mean.
Does that mean all strobe light parties are at risk of extinction too? Will the world become an abyss of black and white? Will all creativity be banished from our lives, and we’ll be forced to watch Glee episodes on repeat for the rest of eternity?
I know I’m being rash, but I mean, I feel bad for the guy. The video is good. Let Kanye have his moment.
See the video below and be careful!
Before Arcade Fire and Radiohead snag the spotlight, Kanye doesn’t hesitate to remind everyone that he’s still around with his new neon-infested music video for “All of the Lights” that includes appearances by Rihanna and Kid CuDi.
The Hype Williams directed video starts with a solemn black-and-white shot of a young black girl strolling through the snow-covered streets in the projects, while Elton John’s ivory tickles provide the instrumental. As the blaring, triumphant fanfare of horns welcome the chorus of Alicia Keys, Rihanna and friends… the acid light show begins.
Michael Jackson tributes continue with CuDi’s red-leather jacker (hello, Thriller) and Ye’s tribal dancing on top of a cop car (Black or White).
And yes, there is the blatant nod to Gasper Noe’s Into the Void intro, which is done in respect.
And on top of that, we get Rihanna in what appear to be a boob harness. Yes. A boob harness.
But, of course, would anyone expect anything less than classy from the man? It won’t disappoint with the cinematic presentation, as it isn’t over done or too spectacular… just a few cop lights, flash lights, spot lights and strobe lights to kick one into seizure after one dose.
Chris Brown really needs help to chill out, and he also needs the full time assistance of a public relations wizard. As if Brown didn’t have enough problems with his image, now he has turned to Twitter to use gay slurs.
Chris Brown and Raz-B (who is a former member of B2-K) got into a Twitter scuffle after Raz Tweeted about Brown’s treatment of Rihanna.
“Im just sittin here Thinking how can n**gas like [Eric Benet] and [Chris Brown] disrespect women as Intelligent as Halle Berry, Rihanna.”
Brown immediately lashed back — writing, “n**ga you want attention! Grow up n**ga!!! Dick in da booty ass lil boy.”
TMZ reports that Brown is referring to allegations that Raz made a while back that his band’s manager molested him.
So is Brown homophobic or was he just fighting back against Raz? And is this whole altercation blown way out of proportion?
Chris Brown has completed his court ordered 52 week course in domestic violence. He is so proud of his accomplishment that he took to Twitter to share the good news.
On Monday Brown posted a picture of his diploma, which he received Monday afternoon. You may recall Brown was ordered to take the course after assaulting his then girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
Good work Chris! Too bad you didn’t figure out not to hit girls when you were 8 years old.
This song merited a part two? Really?
Perez Hilton is reporting that Rihanna and Eminem have decided to join forces in the studio to record “Love the Way you Lie (Part Two),” a follow-up to their chart-topping hit that dropped this summer. The track supposedly tells the same relationship story, but this time focuses on the lady’s perspective.
Sounds just gimmicky enough to work!
The track will be featured on Rihanna’s forthcoming album, “Loud,” which is due to hit stores on November 16th.
Good call kids. The world definitely needs another song about a famous couple unnecessarily enduring a painful and toxic relationship for absolutely no discernable reason. Role models, holla!
Radar Online reports that Rihanna was spotted in the streets of New York this weekend shooting some scenes for her new music video, and as always her wardrobe was… um…interesting.
RiRi was sporting a Beetlejuice inspired blazer, crazy matching short shorts, and the piece de resistance – a flaming red wig with a perfectly colour-matched mesh veil…contraption.
In the most unfair twist of events known to womankind, she still managed to look gorgeous despite the absolutely heinous dress-in-the-dark quality of her outfit.
The scenes will be a part of the “Umbrella” singer’s video for her new single, “What’s My Name?” andPOP has confirmed that her name is, in fact, still Rihanna.
In all seriousness, you’ve got to admit that the lady’s a musical powerhouse! We’re pretty sure we’re going to die with the chorus of “Rude Boy” stuck in our heads.
Do you like Rihanna’s new red wig obsession?
The much buzzed-about bachelorette party for singer Katy Perry has finally happened.
Radar Online reports that Perry and some close friends, including fellow artist and BFF Rihanna, took the Hard Rock Hotel Beach Club in Vegas by storm this weekend. The partygoers proceeded to celebrate Katy’s engagement in the most rock star way possible…by, erm, sitting in the corner of the pool and smoking?
Okay, so it wasn’t the wild and crazy bash that we were all expecting. Still, the guests seemed pretty content to be there, especially Rihanna, who was thoughtful enough to bring along her finest red wig for the occasion.
Katy Perry and her fiancé, British comedian Russell Brand, are getting hitched sometime this fall at an undisclosed location.
Enjoy it while you can, Katy! You only tie the knot once (hopefully)!
Rihanna is the most recent musician to cancel tour dates due to a slump in the concert industry, reports MTV News.
Rihanna has canceled dates for her Last Girl on Earth Tour in Denver, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Dallas, Atlanta, and the tour’s kickoff in Washington that was scheduled to go down on July 2nd. The reason given for the cancellations was because of “scheduling conflicts”.
It’s not just Rihanna who is feeling the pain of this downturn in the industry. In a recent report by Pollstar magazine, in the first six months of 2010, the total grossed by the top 100 concert tours was only $965.5 million, down 17 percent since just last year.
But it isn’t all bad news; Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift have all been doing well with ticket sales.
After wowing the crowd in Zurich on Monday night, Rihanna paid an unexpected trip to the local emergency room.
E! Online reports the pop diva was in Switzerland on her European tour when she was taken to the hospital. Rihanna was escorted to the Hirslanden Clinic with two members of her entourage.
No comment was made by Rihanna’s people why she took a visit to the hospital. A spokesperson for the clinic said “We do not know the details.”
Nevertheless it could not have been anything too serious. Last night she rocked the house in Lyos, France performing to a sold out crowd.
