SIMPLE LIFE star NICOLE RICHIE has been diagnosed with blood disorder hypoglycaemia.
The condition means the skinny socialite’s blood sugar levels are often too low to provide an adequate amount of energy for her body.
A spokesperson for Richie tells America’s People magazine, “In her ongoing effort to focus on her well-being, Nicole has recently been diagnosed with hypoglycaemia.
“(She) is taking steps to manage it.”
The diagnosis comes less than a month after Richie was hospitalised for dehydration after falling ill while filming the new season of her hit reality show, in which she and pal PARIS HILTON have been counselling children at a health camp.
A source says, “Four or five times she’s felt really faint and almost passed out and then she has to go into her trailer for a good part of the day.”
Richie has spent the last year battling reports she has an eating disorder and recently confessed she called in a therapist and a nutritionist to help her figure out why she was so thin.

NICOLE RICHIE and boyfriend JOEL MADDEN are currently house hunting in Los Angeles – just three months after the pair began dating.
THE SIMPLE LIFE star pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to a charge of driving while under the influence and faces up to a year in jail if convicted of a second DUI.
Richie, who lives in a West Hollywood condominium, and Madden, who has a house in suburban Glendale, are searching for a new home to live in together.
A source tells American publication Us Weekly, “Nicole hasn’t moved in with him yet…but they are looking at places.”

Nicole Richie pleaded not guilty yesterday to a misdemeanour drunk-driving charge stemming from her December arrest in Los Angeles.
Richie’s lawyer, SHAWN CHAPMAN, entered the plea on the star’s behalf, who did not appear in court.
Because of a prior Driving Under the Influence (DUI) conviction in 2003, by California law she faces mandatory jail time of 90 days and up to one year in prison if convicted of a second DUI.
The 25-year-old was spotted driving the wrong way down a Los Angeles freeway on December 11.
Authorities found her stopped in a carpool lane and she subsequently failed a field sobriety test.
According to police, Richie admitted to officers at the time she had smoked marijuana and taken the painkiller Vicodin.
She was booked and released the next morning after posting $15,000 bail.
A pretrial hearing has been set for April 2.

Nicole Richie has blasted her former stylist for making her too thin.
The “Simple Life” star – who sparked anorexia fears following her dramatic weight loss over the last year – posted an angry message on her MySpace internet page, apparently aimed at celebrity style guru Rachel Zoe.
The message read: “What 35-year-old raisin face whispers her order of three pieces of asparagus for dinner at Chateau every night, and hides her deathly disorder by pointing the finger at me, and used the last paycheque I wrote her to pay for a publicist instead of a nutritionist? HINT: Her nickname is Lettucecup.”
Just hours after the damning message appeared, Lindsay Lohan – who also lost weight after employing Zoe – allegedly posted a note on Nicole’s site reading, “Hmmmm… No Comment.”
Nicole recently broke her two-year partnership with Zoe after her adoptive father, singer Lionel Richie, convinced her to seek medical help for her weight.
Nicole explained the split saying she “wanted to surround herself with positive people and influences”.
Zoe has insisted the decision to end their working relationship was mutual.
She told gossip website TMZ.com: “There has been a lot of speculation as to the cause of my parting with client Nicole Richie. After trying to be a good friend to Nicole, we made a mutual decision to sever our working
relationship. I have nothing but love for Nicole and wish her only health and happiness.”
