Howard Stern has certainly been around the block for a few decades, but there is no question he’s still in the game.

On Thursday Howard Stern announced he would continue his stint on Sirius/XM for another five years. This announcement subjected the Sirius/XM customer service representatives with a tidal wave of phone calls, with peopling renewing their subscriptions to the service, and people signing up for new accounts.

The story has become one of the most read this week on TMZ, along with other sites. So maybe Stern is the king of all media?

‘Southland’ Reportedly Renewed By NBC

It looks like the cops of “Southland” will be back on the mean streets of L.A. in the fall.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has picked up the midseason drama for 13 episodes, likely for the network’s fall lineup.

The show is expected to move from its 10 p.m. Thursday timeslot to 9 p.m. – thought not necessarily on Thursday – in order to make room for “The Jay Leno Show,” which is slated to air at 10 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

“Southland,” starring Ben McKenzie, Tom Everett Scott and Regina King, among others, has averaged 9.2 million viewers since premiering April 9 in the timeslot vacated by “ER.” John Wells, the man behind that long-running medical drama, is also the executive producer of “Southland.”

The reported renewal comes as NBC prepares for its “Infront” presentation on Monday, when it will discuss its fall schedule plans with advertisers and press.

The fate of other NBC shows, including “Chuck,” “Medium,” “Parks & Recreation,” “Law & Order” and “My Name Is Earl,” is expected to be announced in the coming days and weeks.

CBS has announced multi-season pickups for their juggernaut sitcoms “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory.”

“Two and a Half Men,” the most-watched comedy on TV, has been renewed for another three years, ensuring it will remain on air through 2012.

Now in its sixth season, the series stars Charlie Sheen as a carefree womanizer whose hedonistic lifestyle is interrupted when his straitlaced brother and young nephew move in with him.

The show averages 15.4 million viewers per episode and is also the top-rated show in syndication.

In the same deal with Warner Bros., CBS has picked up “The Big Bang Theory” for another two years.

The comedy, now in its second season, follows the geektastic exploits of a group of physicists and reunites “Roseanne” co-stars Sara Gilbert and Johnny Galecki.

Both “Men” and “Big Bang” were created by Chuck Lorre (“Dharma & Greg,” “Roseanne”) and have consistently scored strong ratings for CBS on Monday nights. Whereas other networks have been hit by declining audience numbers, viewership for CBS’s Monday-night comedy lineup is up 13 percent compared to last season.
