Katie Holmes doesn’t want her six-year-old daughter Suri to get into Scientology, which is what led her to leave Tom Cruise.
“Katie just couldn’t take Tom and his whole Scientology worship anymore. She got sick and tired of being controlled not only by Tom but by the bizarre belief system of Scientology. She does not want Suri to be a Scientologist,” said a source to HollywoodLife.
Katie, now 33, didn’t mind his religious beliefs because she was reportedly so blinded by 49-year-old Tom’s charms at the beginning of their relationship
“When Katie first met Tom, she was really naive and smitten with him. But now that she is older and has more confidence, she is no longer willing to sacrifice her well-being and the well-being of her daughter. This divorce has been a long time coming. No one in their circles are surprised,” another source said.
While it’s never a happy occasion to see a couple break up, good for Kate! She should never do something she isn’t comfortable with…especially when it deals with a mysterious religion like Scientology.
And God forbid, a six-year-old shouldn’t be forced to believe in something at that age!
Uh…what? One Direction’s Zayn Malik is being under fire by an American blogger for exploiting his Muslim heritage.
According to The Sun, Debbie Schlussel has warned parents to “keep their daughters away” from the British boy band because she claims that Malik had posted tweets for fans about Ramadan and Allah.
“The scary thing is that millions of girls in America and around the world are infatuated with the members of One Direction, including Zayn. He knows the power he has over these mindless girls and is using that influence to preach the Islamic faith. It’s dangerous.”
Continuing her rant, she also said, “With the boy band One Direction, it’s all about pimping Islam amid the deceptive visage of angelic, effeminate boys in a band. Yup, for them there is definitely One Direction: facing Mecca.”
To see this being said is incredibly upsetting. Living in 2012, we should be learning to have more open minds about different religions and races. Not living in a world of fear and hate.
But while Malik hasn’t responded to these comments yet, American Muslim campaigner Wajahat Ali has come to support Zayn, saying it is “empowering” to have a Muslim in a popular boy band.
He said that even though conservative Muslims may disagree with Zayn’s actions (tattoos, ear piercings, smoking), he can “really help open those minds.”
Justin Bieber has inspired a new book on religion. Bieber is not shy about his strong Christian beliefs, and he continues to be very vocal about his values. This has attracted a new generation of believers.
Like any other product he endorses, Justin Bieber has inspired younger people to explore religion. This group has been nicknamed “Beliebers”.
The upcoming title of the book, Belieber!: Fame, Faith and The Heart of Justin Bieber, explores the entertainer’s religious beliefs, reports Gather. This should provide an in-depth look at a side of Bieber that has yet to be researched.
Lady Gaga has released the music video for ‘Judas,’ the second single off her upcoming album ‘Born This Way.’
“I want to allow the video to speak for itself but I will say that the theme of the video and the way that I wanted to aesthetically portray the story was as a motorcycle Fellini movie where the apostles are revolutionaries in a modern-day Jerusalem,” Gaga explained to MSNBC. “And I play Mary Magdalene leading them into the town where we meet Jesus and I will leave the rest for you to see. But it’s meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it.”

A flashy, sexually-charged pop star in her public persona, Katy Perry’s serious side comes out when interviews turn to her religious upbringing.
Raised by Christian missionary parents, Perry lived within an evangelical world that she now realizes was close-minded and limited.
“I didn’t have a childhood,” Perry said during an interview with Vanity Fair magazine.
“”I was always scared I was going to get bombed when I was there… I didn’t know it was more than that, that it was for women and their needs. I didn’t have insurance, so I went there and I learned about birth control.”
Perry also told the magazine that she wasn’t allowed to use words such as “Devil Dog” or “Dirt Devil”, and that her family was “very non-accepting.”
Now married to comedian Russell Brand, Perry is now a practicing Buddhist and doesn’t shy away from flaunting her sex appeal.
Meanwhile, Perry’s mother is now shopping a book about raising the star in which she says that she thinks her daughter could become a great televangelist.
“I recognized the psalmist gift in her performance. Yet she sang out, ‘I kissed a girl, and I liked it,’ while thousands joined her. One part of my heart soared… the other part broke for the thousands of hungry souls being fed something that didn’t nourish their spirit, but fed their flesh,” she said.
Well, at least her mother has become more accepting of Perry’s lifestyle!
