A 3.3 million item record collection is being auctioned off on eBay – with a starting bid of US$3-million.

Paul Mawhinney, owner of the Record Rama Sound Archives in Pittsburgh, Penn., is selling of his entire record collection, cbc.ca reports.

Mawhinney calls the collection the world’s greatest and says he has spent his life collecting music.

“I’ve had a lot of people that wanted it, but they didn’t have the right kind of capital,” the 69-year-old said.

He is selling it partly due to his poor health.

While the majority of the collection is vinyl, there are also a number of CDs, eight tracks and LPs from thousands of artists.
