Did a prank go too far?
A nurse who unsuspectingly transferred a prank call from Australian hosts posing as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles has been found dead in what is reportedly a suicide. The nurse has been identified as Jacintha Saldanha.
Saldanha was the first to answer the call on Tuesday as hosts Mel Greig and Michael Christian tried to get information on expectant mother Kate Middleton, who was admitted into the King Edward VII Hospital after suffering from acute morning sickness. Saldanha’s first responses along with those of a second nurse were recorded and broadcast on air.
According to a statement by hospital chairman Lord Glenarthur, he said: “This is a tragic event. Jacintha was a first-class nurse who cared diligently for hundreds of patients during her time with us. She will be greatly missed.”
Prince William and Kate have also issued a statement, expressing how deeply saddened they are to learn of the death.
“Their royal highnesses were looked after so wonderfully well at all times by everybody at King Edward VII Hospital, and their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.”
While the Australian Communications and Media Authority are still investigating the case, the radio hosts have since issued apologies and have decided not to return to their radio show until further notice.
“Just on our royal prank call… we were very surprised that our call was put through, we thought we’d be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents,” Christian wrote on his Twitter account. “We’re very sorry if we’ve caused any issues and we’re glad to hear that Kate is doing well.”
Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has just been released from the hospital after suffering from a very serious illness called “hyperemesis gravidarum.” With Middleton’s return home, the royal couple has lots to celebrate about, including their obviously amazing news that they will be having a baby. Taking part in a mile-long fun run in Brazil on Saturday, Prince Harry goofily wore a mask of his brother Prince William.
Given to him by another runner among a group who decided they would put on masks of the royal family, the younger prince decided to don his brother’s face during the six-minute run.
Harry, 27, is in Brazil to highlight British interests and support his charitable causes. ’
It’s nice to see Harry poke fun at his brother in such a cute way. But I’d much rather like to look at Harry’s face (*wink*)!
In Britian, he may be a prince, but in Russia he’s known as a hero.
Prince William rescued two Russian sailors from a sinking cargo ship and now, the country is singing his praises.
The 29-year-old Duke of Cambridge co-piloted the helicopter as the Royal Air Force searched for the two missing sailors. Perez Hilton reveals Prince William’s crew airlifted the rescued sailors to his air base in Wales. He also found the body of one slain sailor.
Russian ambassador to the U.K., Alexander Yakovenko recently wrote the Price a letter, saying:
“We know that you took an active part in the rescue and the two seamen were saved thanks to your selfless effort under the bad weather conditions. Let me express to you and your colleagues my deepest gratitude for saving the lives of the Russian citizens.”
The Mirror reports that it was the Prince’s second rescue mission. Earlier, he saved a woman suffering from hypothermia from swimming at Trearddur Bay and flew her to the nearby hospital.
Maybe people seem to believe Prince William and Prince Harry are just spoiled boys of the Royal Family that were born into money, but these two prove time and time again that they are honourable men. If you weren’t proud of this Prince before, you most likely are now.
If you haven’t yet had your fix of royalty and your recording of the royal wedding is becoming tiresome, look no further because he new royal family will be visiting North America.
As reported by PEOPLE, Prince William and Duchess Catherine will be visiting Canada from June 30-July 8 and proceeding on to California from July 8-10. No word as to where the couple will be in Canada, or the exact location in California, but you can be sure SOMEONE will find out and leak the info.
This will be Prince William’s first visit in an official capacity to the United States as he has only traveled there privately before. It is Duchess Catherine’s first time in the states.

If there was ever a time an artist would be cool with being the wedding singer, this is it.
British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding, landed the gig of the century, when she was the only one selected to perform at the newly married Duke William and Duchess Catherine’s intimate reception on Friday evening at Buckingham Palace.
In an interview with Us Weekly she said, “It was an amazing honour to be asked by Kate and William to perform at their party. The atmosphere was incredible and it is a night I’ll never forget!”
An honour indeed, as the young 24-year-old was reportedly the only singer invited to perform at the dinner and dance reception of just 300 people, hosted by Prince Charles. An attendee of the reception said Goulding performed a cover of Elton John’s “Your Song,” as well as her well-known pop hit, “Starry-Eyed.”
Goulding won the BBC sound of 2010 poll and was awarded the Critics Choice Awards at the 2010 BRIT Awards. The young Brit is also set to star as the musical guest on the May 7 episode of Saturday Night Live, with guest star Tina Fey. Reportedly, William and Catherine chose the singer because they were huge fans of her 2010 debut album, Lights.
I would have thought perhaps William’s long-time friend and wedding guest, Joss Stone may have been asked to perform a song or two, but it looks like Goulding beat out any competition for the opportunity to be a part of history.
A nice boost for the Brit’s career.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have reportedly been asked to perform at the royal wedding reception, reports Digital Spy.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to be big fans of the married entertainers and it is reported that the pair have accepted the offer.
“Both William and Kate are massive fans of Beyoncé and Jay-Z,” a source said. “They really wanted to make their big day even more special and what better way than by getting pop royalty to perform at the party?
“Will and Kate will have an official reception for hundreds of dignitaries before throwing a less formal bash for loved-ones. They both wanted to ditch traditions and make it more personal for them.”
Jay-Z and Beyoncé are both in Europe at the moment while she promotes her new single ’Run The World (Girls),’ so maybe this is just a rumour due to the fact that they are in Europe? Or maybe it’s actually true? Who knows, but I find it very difficult to picture the Queen of England doing the Single Ladies dance.
George Michael took to Twitter to announce that he has decided to write a royal tune for the upcoming nuptials of Prince William to Kate Middleton. And who better to ask for help than his fellow tweeters?
“I have been thinking about Will and Kate…. and I’m so happy for William… the whole country is getting ready to party! Let’s have our own celebration twitter style…..
“Instead of Song of the Day, let’s pick a song I can give to you on here sometime this week. I’ll grab my piano player and bob’s your uncle… Wedding gift and bank holiday thank u to my twitter lovelies rolled into one.
“I’ll do the vocals at home… Come on boyz n girls…what song should it be? Oh and it can’t be one of mine, they are all a bit too sad….no sniggering and agreeing, you at the back!”

After expressing a while later that he had come up with a “beautiful song,” Michael kept tweeting with updates on the song’s progress, and even announced that he had gotten a royal thumbs up for it!
“As it turns out, while I was singing I got a text saying they liked the song…..which is the only green light I cared about! Hooray!!” (He later clarified, “No no, I didn’t get a ROYAL text, I just had a good friend run my choice of song by them. No point in making it if they won’t enjoy it….:).”)
According to Michael, the song will be ready for the world to hear by Friday, tweeting Wednesday morning,“I’m up early because I only have one more day to finish the track if I’m going to give you all the song by Friday!”

British Royal Prince William and his fiancé, Kate Middleton, have decided to skip the garish, expensive honeymoon following their spring wedding. Instead, the pair have opted for a trip to the picturesque but geographically convenient Isles of Scilly just off the coastal town of Penzance.
Gotta love those lighthouses!
It’s been said that this vacation choice was not only easier on the royal family’s wallet but also made the security detail surrounding the couple far more manageable. After the recent attack on Charles and Camilla, the last thing the royal family needs is another dangerous breach.
It should be a trip down memory lane for William, who used to vacation in the isles when he was younger with brother Harry and his royal parentals, Charles and Diana.
The couple will wed on April 29th at Westminster Abbey.

Prince William can now add yet another title to his name: army officer. Wills was commissioned Friday in a ceremony at Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, England. His younger brother, Prince Harry, went through a similar ceremony earlier this year.
Queen Elizabeth II as well as William’s father, Prince Charles, were on hand to address the military class. But it was William’s long-time girlfriend, Kate Middleton, who stole the spotlight in a dazzling red dress.
There has been some speculation that Wills will pop the question to Middleton soon. The two have been seeing each other since they met at St. Andrew’s University, where they both studied art history.
